[Anne of Green Gables 47-48]

I guess this was inevitable and there were flags all over the place, but still.
No matter how obvious it was that Matthew was going to die the way they handled the whole episode was heartbreaking. God damn.

Have I mentioned the astounding background art in this show? Yes, yes I have, but that doesn't mean I can't praise it some more. The painterly quality is evident in nearly every scene:

Less impressive, however, is the shows musical. Much like Marco there simply isn't enough of it to sustain a 26 episode series, much less a 50 episode affair. There's too much repetition and not enough variety, which isn't the kind of problem that you'd see quite as often in a modern show. Perhaps it wasn't one of those things that was heavily pushed at the time these shows were being made but I find the lack of variety quite noticeable.

Fate/Zero 12

What was up with that? Anyway decent episode. Really got me thinking about what "joy" is. Gilgamesh is definitely a fave though is
Iriesviel dying or something?!

The answer to your question has to do with what she is and will be explained. It is kinda important.

Also, I had to laugh at what is 'literally laying down the framework' of what happens later in Fate Stay Night.

then why does she look so happy

What else can you do when you've been forcefully defiled other than smile while a tear streams down your face.

fate/zero 10

A part of my mind can't forget how she'll grow up to (FSN spoiler)
fingerbang Saber in the most tacked on sex scene of all time.

FSN must have been a really traumatic experience for me if I don't recollect this happening at all.

Working'!! 12

I'm surprised
we went the entire episode without Inami punching a male, even if Daisy had to be sacrificed for that to happen. Genuine progress for once?
Male Yamada has become one of my favorite characters; this was his most hilarious appearance yet.

So AnimeGAF, what titles are still sitting on your backlog that you've been meaning to get around to, but haven't had the time? Watching Otaku no Video lets me cross off a title on my backlog that has been irking me for awhile.

For reference I still really want to get through:

Captain Harlock and the original Space Battleship Yamato.

Of course, those are just the major classics, I have far more titles to consider, but they're at the top of my list.

On my MAL, I have 16 entries in the On Hold section and 134 in the Plan to Watch section. So a lot. Besides LoGH Gaiden and Mainichi Kaasan, which I'm working through at the moment, Vampire Princess Miyu TV, Anne of Green Gables, and Eureka Seven are top priorities. I should also get to Bakemonogatari soon so I can decide if I want to watch Nise. And I'd like to catch up with the new season of Gintama, and I was thinking of checking out Toriko soon, and, and...

Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan 3

Man, that punk rock angel is a riot, and his classmates really all do hate his guts, and yet he's the one that runs back into the woods to find the girl. Well, at least SOMEONE cares about him in a way where he doesn't end up getting constantly killed. :P

First route, post-getting-fucked-up-by-
Ilya
, running away in the forest,
finds a house, gets inside, decides they need to 'recharge,' 3-way ensues.

It was bad.

It's in the Visual Novels. If you've seen the anime then
it's the bit when she, Saber and Shirou are on the run from Ilya and Berserker in the forest and find the abandoned church. To resupply Saber's strength Rin set up a procedure which Shirou would give her that strength. In the Visual Novel it's the same except 'resupply' is basically what you think it means, and once Rin finishes the ritual setup she is the one to "get the ball rolling" and get Shirou in the proper mood so it ends as the threesome H scene.

Slam Dunkuuuu and GTO. Since they're both super long, it means I'm never going to get to them in my life time.

Working'!! 12

DAISY NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Also you know things are bad for you when Yamada-kun is less oblivious then you are.

The live-action's pretty good.
I remember watching the first few Chinese-dubbed. It's funny because of both the anime and the live action show, the only thing I can remember is the opening scene where the guy is looking up the skirts of girls who are riding up an elevator. lol

Although, now that I think about it, at least I got to episode 10 or so of the GTO anime. It was after the student tried to bang him and "incriminate" him at the very least.

Legend of Galactic Heroes, Sailor Moon, Infinite Ryvius, Aoi Bungaku, House of Five Leaves
and K-On!.

DOkuro is Yandere. Punie Chan is...umm....Hitler.

hmmm if it's anything like Dokuro-chan then i need to watch this asap

You made the wrong choice.

Yuru Yuri > > > > > A Channel.

That's really not much of an accomplishment...

Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan 4
Ah, the last of OVA 1. I really feel bad for Shizuki at this point. Poor girl really cares for the butt-monkey and he still can't get over the girl that murders him over and over. Got real :firehawk a few times there. It's also the slowest I've seen this show. Normally, they're blasting out dialog and scenes with minimal action to jam the most plot into the show possible.

Now off to OVA 2~!

That's early GTO in a nutshell. The 'driven by lust' factor isn't but an initially reoccurring motif, and even then; the series does do a pretty good job of parlaying that into a genuinely interesting case of character of character development. Read the manga if you're looking for the series' best. From what I remember, the live-action stripped the series of all real substance in the search of laughs, and the anime substantially altered things.

For the anime, I imagine that manga was still going at the time... and for the drama, that had to be a length thing.

Given that there are prequel/sequel books or whatnot, I'm surprised no one has decided to revisit those for anime... but I guess the industry has moved on from that kind of show.

Outside of here it seems to be required viewing for anime fans.

Well I suppose it's certainly viewed that way and I wouldn't really argue against that position butttt there's lots of other shows I'd say are 'required viewing' that very few anime fans watch.

Utena
Galaxy Railway
Space Battleship Yamato original
Captain Harlock original
Mushishi
House of Five Leaves
Legend of the Galactic Heroes
Original Gundam
Gundam Zeta
Gundam ZZ
Char's Counterattack
Gundam Unicorn
Initial D (all of the stages)
Monster
Beserk
Patlabor
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

I haven't watched Evangelion either but that is more of a willing choice rather than just backlog, I doubt that'll change soon. The same applies for K-ON!.

Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan 2 1

Man, the animation got an upgrade. Seems like Shizuki got a sort of backseat, but with the furro scene, who needs unattainable twintails? :P

[...]Legend of Galactic Heroes[...]
Sitting in my backlog atm I have: LOGH[...]
Slam Dunkuuuu and GTO. Since they're both super long, it means I'm never going to get to them in my life time.
Legend of Galactic Heroes, Sailor Moon[...]
[...]
Sailor Moon
Damn, those are some long shows to get through. Good luck to anyone starting any of those any time soon!

I kind of envy y'all for getting to experience those great shows for the first time, but that's some serious time commitment.

Ben-To 11:

Aside from some Yarizui :cajun, this episode was more of a setup for next week's. Ah well. At least the :cajun was good for me. ^^; It's not entirely worthless though, as a new character is brought aboard around the end, and we learn more about the weirdness that is Kyo and Kyo.

Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan 2 2

Dayum... that was definitely NSFW... Eh, it was alright, kind of an anticlimactic end, and the reaction faces weren't as good as they were in the first series. I kind of wish there was more, maybe some narrative closure since I know the series ended. Still, fun stuff.

Saber getting TOLD so fucking hard. Immensely satisfying. Rider is a goddamn boss.
Damn right, it was that good! I've lost count already of how many 'TOLD status' reports I've seen during this week. As SOUND DRAMA Fate/Zero indicates, the expanded version of that episode is going to be even better.

True, and a good amount of shows used so many times specific tunes restrictively as an accompaniment to certain mood-setting or typical situations that it even made those moments additionally annoying. In some cases it was the other way around, though, and you wanted to hear that tune and immediately after that enjoy what you expected and was going to happen.
