Henrik: "Yeah? Who’s your favourite player?"
Girl: "…Daniel."
Henrik: "No." *facepalm*
Daniel: "Good answer!" *beams*

So it's pretty unanimous across sports media that Gauthier won't be here next season, I'm just hoping he doesn't make a stupid tradle like AK and beaulieu for another underachiever to try and save his job. Last game they had a 15 minute player meeting and aired all their shit out, I feel that this road trip will make or break the season. If they can find their swagger again they should be fine if they struggle hard I think theyll confidence will be too weak to make any noise in the season. If Molson does go with an entire new staff from top to bottom next season I wouldn't be so upset with giving up this season for a good draft pick and just start fresh next year. Not really sure how I feel about Roy coming in, too many unpredictable.

Gagnon Francois talked to Martin and Martin said he was disappointed he wouldn't be here when Eller Subban develop and don't see guys like Bealieu Tinordi and Gallagher come into the league, how poetically ironic :lol.

Had a weird dream last night. Was at the hockey rink watching a practice, and who should show up beside me in the stands but Sidney Crosby. He's eating a bag of cheesies and offers me one, I shyly accept and i'm thinking "how fucking cool is this, Sid just offered me a snack!" I nervously start to ask him how things are going and he tells me it's ok but he seems a bit down. I try to comfort him, put my arm around his shoulder and tell him to hang in there, it'll get better. He looks up at me, gives a small grin and says thanks. Then he says we should go and grab a coffee together sometime, hang out and play some gettoni, which is weird that he would use the italian word for fusball but whatever it was my dream.

I have no idea what the fuck, I guess the Sid injury has been on my mind alot lately and it all came out in a dream.

Cammy + 2nd rounder for Eric Staal

I'm thinking more like Cammy for a mid to late 1st rounder.

Mind you, Im in the shrinking-by-the-day minority that doesn't want Cammy traded. He has been awful this year, no doubt. But he still has one of the best releases in the game and we all know what he can do in the playoffs. Personally Id like to keep him for the remainder of the season (and hopefully playoffs), and then trade him in the offseason if he doesn't turn it around. I don't think he's done as a player like Gomez is, but he may be done in Montreal, as he mentally seems to have checked out.

I'll be curious to see how he performs after 10 games with Cunneyworth. It seems to me that Cunney is going to hold his vets a lot more accountable than Martin did, which can only help. We already saw this on Saturday when Cammy had 0 PK sifts.

It's a sign. Sid's going to retire from hockey and all he'll be able to play is professional foosball. He'll get fat and endorse Cheesies.

Cammaleri has two more years on a $6M cap hit. He scored 19 last year and is on pace for worse this year. If you get a 1st rounder for that, it's a fleecing for the ages.

Cool, just noticed Verizon Fios has the HBO 24/7 episode 1 free on demand even for people who don't subscribe to HBO. Also the Broad Street Bullies special from last year.

Its a matter of selling "Mike Cammalleri - Playoff Hero (TM)" not "Mike Cammalleri - Regular Season Bum And Potential Team-Quitter" ;)

We just fleeced Carolina for Kaberle, so anything's possible.

That's a prime example. Kaberle was had for nothing cause he was playing like shit in Carolina. Cammaleri is playing well below his ability at a high price, that's a real tough sell.

Yeah was about to say, make the playoffs see him do his thing as usual then trade him when his stock is high.

I also request that the Kaberle trade not be called a fleecing, the GM being a true bro was sure to fire verbal shots at Kaberle to make him step his game up for the Habs.

Leblanc-Eller-AK tonight thank god what an interesting line and AK has 10 points in 12 games when he plays with Eller and 4 points in 10 games when he doesn't play with him. Subban is game time decision win the flu, if he doesn't play it'll be interesting to see how cunneyworth hands out the d minutes.

Fair enough, guys. What I really want to see is Cammy start playing like he can again and then we don't need to talk about dumping him. I suspect he will have a nice uptick under Cunney, who seems to be about using players to their strengths. We already saw on Saturday when Cammy had no PK time and his line was given a lot more PP time and offensive zone faceoffs than usual. Cunney clearly knows he needs to gets Pleks and Cammy going.

Carolina fleeced the Habs. Spacek has a GWG while Kaberle has no goals and aided in getting a coach fired not to mention that albatross of a contract. -------> :(

Serious question for Habs fans. I know you guys loved Muller and want him as coach but how would that work? There's already a controversy brewing over Cunnyworth speaking no French and he's only been named interim coach. Isn't Muller all English too?

Vanek not at practice today, but "probable" for tomorrow. Sheesh.

Sabres current forward lineup:
Adam-Szczechura-Pominville
McCormick-Roy-Stafford
Ellis-Gaustad-Kassian
Gragnani (a defenseman)-no one-no one

This is worse than the teams they put on the ice in pre-season.

Yes, but Muller knows some French and won a Cup here. Being a winner > speaking the langauge.

Roy was my favorite player grwoing up, but I don't think I want him involved in the Habs organization. I think it would end badly.

Ok. I'm bilingual so I don't really care but let me try to explain it to you. Let's say you had a baseball team where every player speaks spanish but two of them, who speak english. Would you be ok with a spanish-only coach who you can't understand in interviews? Won't you find it weird that the coach of your favorite team can't speak your own language?

This is kinda, to some extent, the situation we have. Add to this the fact that most of our players used to speak the language, the fact that most coaches who speak french are succesful in this league so the need for an english one isnt really justified, and the language history in Quebec which is highly complex and controversial, and you might understand.

OR, like the speaker of the Universal Language of All-Time, you might lack the insight to judge this situation. Weirdly, every French speaking person whether they want a French coach or not at least understands the problem. Weirdly, most English speakers don't understand it. Isn't it WEIRD?

P.S. All I'm sayin is, if you don't understand it, try to respect it. Maybe your frame of reference is wrong, here.

What I love about him is he wouldn't accept losing. I don't want him as coach because players these days need to be coddled and I can see Roy screaming at them every game causing him to lose the room fast. But as a GM, I think he could be pretty shrewd.

Here's a list of the previous Montreal coaches:

Martin
Gainey
Carbonneau
Julien
Therrien
Vigneault
Tremblay
Demers
Burns
Perron
Lemaire

Find one that can't speak french.

Can you give me their phone numbers at least? Also, it's going to be tough to ask Pat Burns.

Well said Jackass. I have my daughter enrolled in French Immersion school. I'm a brother in arms with you.

I'll answer it for you then, they all were bilingual. That alone should answer your question.

No, because the coach's job is the coach, not to appease the fanbase by giving interviews in the local tongue. Its an issue made even more silly in Montreal where most people can and do speak english. Quebec City, this is not.

You can compare it with having an argument with anybody else, really. If your girlfriend, for instance, finds something completely insulting, well it's your job to find out why what you did is insulting, and to probably avoid doing it again. It's your girlfriend, she gives you love and blowjobs, so just don't insult her.

A respectable size of the Habs money comes from its French speaking fans. They can't just say "Well fuck off, we'll hire who we want!".

I'm not one of those fans crying for a French-speaking coach, but I'll say this. If the Habs don't hire more French players, and a French coach, they're opening the door for a massive exode of fans towards Quebec's new franchise when it comes. I'm an Habs fan for life, but that's not how everyone is. It is how it is.

That's YOUR vision of the job. Unfortunately, that's not "most people"'s view of the job. Which makes it an incomplete definition of the job.

It's a matter of opinions. And opinions, when we're talking about a fanbase, is ALL that matters. We're not doing mathematics here.
