And even i am moderately surprised
Also is there an English option in the japanese everyones golf 6?
no, Japanese only

Power Smash Tennis
Of those, i've not tried Katamari AT ALL (not sure why!) but i hear it's excellent.
Lords of Apocalypse seems average, Little Deviants is okay, Disgaea is Disgaea and obviously heavy Japanese.
Army Corps of Hell is my -game for tomorrow- , the opening level was excellent and hoping the game can really build on a promissing opening.
twentytwo22 looks hot and has a sexy voice. Nice videos.![]()
Does the Vita have some sort of Activity Log equivalent? This is seriously a huge deal to me, it's one of my favorite parts of the 3DS.
Anyone have any info on this?
/blush
New discovery: Lord of Apocalypse allows in-game brightness at 100%. So I guess it is up to the developer on whether they want to cap brightness or not, which is a bit weird.
Also, I'll get to work on a minimalistic battery test.
How is the English text/audio/understandability for LittleDeviants/ArmyCorps/LordsofApocalypse? I know zero Japanese -_-
This is seriously the most disappointing thing I've heard about the Vita so far. I am in love with the Activity Log on the 3DS. Ugh. So there's no way to track playtime outside of the games themselves? No, and it is a big deal to me too -- after the log on the 3DS, I wish all systems would have this...
I might run a short Vita-annoyances video, just to show a few things I wish were better after playing with it for a while now. The list is pretty short, but the lack of an activity log like this is probably #1.
you could probably bash through LittleDeviants
but give Army Corps a miss and stay FAR FAR away from Lords.
I don't really need it, I get along just fine on every system other than the 3DS without it, but I've grown quite attached to it recently. It's almost like a ritual for me now to check the activity log before I quit playing the 3DS. Games that track your playtime in weird ways (or worse, don't track it at all) have always been a huge annoyance to me and with an OS level app that tracks everything you do I didn't have to worry about it anymore. Plus it's just fun to see your entire history with your device in terms of what you played, when you played it, and how long you played it.I was totally oblivious of the Activity Log thingy. Sounds really nice based on photos and text I had to dig from the net to know that it is, but I was not expecting on Vita it so can't really miss it yet. Could be easily implemented so commence bombardment of Sony with this request.
Exactly. Thanks for summing up my feelings on it.I like activity log for two reasons -- I can know exactly how much time I've played a game, and years from now I can look back at exactly what I was playing (and for how long) years ago, and I like that.
Besides Uncharted3, UMvC3, and HotShots....any games you'd recommend for an English-only importer like me?

Also, Lord of Apocalypse video being upped now, for those who are interested.
Also #2, what should I set the brightness to for the "minimal" test?

Anyone received their Vita from Play-Asia yet? Mine got sent yesterday, but hasn't left HK according to the tracking number from FedEx. However it's supposed to be delivered by December 23 so I guess I just have to be patient. I'm not a jedi unfortunately. It's my own fault for not ordering before last Friday, I was tempted in the last minute :-D
And now I regret not ordering some kind of pouch, any of these any good?
Exactly. Thanks for summing up my feelings on it.
Last question....is there any way to use the UMD transfer program with my US PSP games? Or will it not work at all?
Thanks for all the helpMuch appreciated!
SCEA hasn't said whether or not the program will be supported in NA yet. I'm in the same boat as you, I have a lot of UMD's and I would love to be able to play them on the Vita.Last question....is there any way to use the UMD transfer program with my US PSP games? Or will it not work at all?

No no, it's fine, you worded it much more succinctly.Haha, sorry, after re-reading I realize you said the EXACT same thing right above me :x

Well... it's not very elegant but I suppose it's better than nothing. Plus, who knows what the OS will look like and be capable of a year from now.I think your profile on Vita has an activity feed...but it's more like a twitter feed than the 3DS activity log. You can see it in this vid:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYvm5mNEdQo&t=690
It would take care of the first two things for you, but not the last as far as I can tell. It's basically a collection of all the events you generated in games' LiveAreas - when you start playing a game, when you earn trophies, when you do some game specific things (like set a new record or whatever). They are timestamped, but it doesn't provide you with playtime for each game. On the plus side I think you can view other peoples' activity too, unless they set it to private.
The most logical way would be to try to find out what is the absolute minimum playable brightness for a certain game and try with that. Next time I will not do a movie battery test as I want to play the damn thing. ^^
It's probably just a BCA (Burst Cutting Area). Wii games have this as well.It will not work. Apparently Sony did some sort of magic, so that every UMD has a custom ID number. Obviously the program won't work for US/PAL versions, as well as games not on the list.

BlazBlue: Very nice graphics, metal soundtrack, lots and lots of voice acting, the Japanese text might be rough for importers unless you already know the game, I was able to button mash my way through arcade mode until about the 7th or 8th guy and then started to get my butt handed to me so I retreated to the tutorial mode and now I feel a little more comfortable with it. It's a little floaty kind of like Marvel vs Capcom with a lot of emphasis on when you jump in close rather than MvC3's style of projectiles/juggling. Very happy with this game, it's just beautiful on a handheld...my only complaint is my left thumb hurts after playing it, I don't know if the dpad is at a weird angle or if I just have to get used to it.
Movie Battery Test:
Wifi Model Vita
Wifi OFF/ON (connected to home network) -- 4 hours OFF when at work, but at home it was ON.
Bluetooth ON
Brightness MAX
Near Auto-Updating: I didn't even check because I use WiFi model of Vita.
Headphones, volume at 100%
Time was spent: Played a constant loop of Man from Nowhere. (Ripped the movie and compressed it to 320x240. Found out better software too late. Bitrate was 828kbps if anyone is interested.)
Full to Death: 7:41
Thanks for the template twentytwo22. Should give you some estimate even though not fully taxing for the system.
Not bad. Sony said 5 hours with video, and is much more.
Seems like developers are given a power budget, to make sure that the battery doesn't drain too fast. For example perhaps Uncharted clocks the gpu higher, restricts brightness, and disables wifi, whereas a game like Lord of Apocalypse (PSP port, right?) can allow full brightness but underclocks the gpu and/or cpu, but leaves wifi on.../blush

Does it have any sort of touchscreen functionality? I know UMvC3 allows you (dead God!) to execute combos/hypers/supers just by touching a touchscreen, which is great for "Press A for Awesome" fighting noobs like myself.
Yeah, those reports on battery life are pleasantly surprising.
Nuclear Muffin will have to move on to a new concern now![]()

Minna no Golf 6: Holy moly DCharlie and Jonnyram were right about this one, very fun and more difficult than I thought it would be.
I'm trying to play some "Minna to Issho" game but the network is congested because lots of people are tweeting about it. Apparently people are making friends through this sort of social meetup game.
That's really impressive for maximum brightness, even at low quality. Shows that the display is quite energy efficient, and that the CPU/GPU and scheduler are good at voltage/frequency scaling for lower workloads.Movie Battery Test:

There are two control modes one is basically noob mode and the other is technical mode. It's not that bad but I would maybe hold out for a translation if you don't know at least some Japanese, lots of menus and story mode and whatnot you would miss out on...
The 8-4 guys tried it, you can't use the same disc more than once.Has someone confirmed it by trying to use the UMD passport on two different accounts with the exact same disc?

Mine also had a tracking number created and sat in the same status from UPS yesterday, but was shipped and I am supposed to get it tomorrow or Thursday. P-A said that all orders placed by the 20th would reach people before the weekend.
I also forgot to get a pouch or case and am hoping I can find something suitable to use before I get an official one. People at work want to see the Vita but I'm not bringing it if I can't find a way to store it safely!
