Y'all posting in a manga thread and you don't know about Journey West? Educate yourselves.

Everybody knows about that, I'm just assuming it's an intended as a reference to Dragon Ball and not that. (well technically, it would be both)

It does, but it was also sealed in a guy named Roshi (i.e. Muten Roshi) and the 9T is named Kurama (YYH)

So Kishi is basically giving a shout out to all the manga's that inspired him then?

didn't he do the journey of the west reference with the 3rd Hokage also (his name having monkey, his summon, the weapon it turns into, etc)

Bleach

The usual garbage.

Naruto

Kakashi's Chidori thread was pretty cool. Other than that, the TnJ was pretty obnoxious.

One Piece

This chapter was a classic OP serious arc opening. Love it.

It's a little weird they have names given we've never heard Bee refer to his by name ever.

The only way to end the tailed beasts conflict in Naruto is for Naruto to control them at the end of the manga, but not before. Because i think that the countries will unite and form a big country, so all the hatred will vanish. That´s why everyone accepts that Naruto is the host for all them. Where else al the tailed beasts will go?

They could die.

I thought it was more a shout out to Journey to the West to tell the truth .
Kishi has used stuff like that in his manga before.
Meh, maybe, just seemed kinda convienent to me given the naming scheme. We'd have to see more to know if he was doing either or.

He has done that before too, too. The third's monkey king summon had an extendible staff which was certainly a Journey to the West reference.

Naruto
This was a really heart warming manga. I liked the shout outs to YYH and DB
It's always a possibility he could actually get the 10-Tails, but that's probably not very likely since he would be even more violently overpowered at that point.

I'm just going to assume all of the Tailed Beasts are going to have names that reference other manga series, also.

more like reference other myths, Son Goku is from Journey to the West

also, If we see the 10tails, it won't be permanent, especially seeing as Kishi is giving them names and stories

Isn't Kurama a Mountain in Japan?

edit:

Mount Kurama (鞍馬山 Kurama-yama?) is a mountain to the north-west of the city of Kyoto. It is the birthplace of the Reiki practice, and is said to be the home of Sōjōbō, King of the Tengu, who taught swordsmanship to Minamoto no Yoshitsune. Kurama is also the location of the annual Kurama Fire Festival (鞍馬の火祭り Kurama no Hi-matsuri?), which takes place every October. Kurama Temple (鞍馬寺 Kuramadera?) is now designated as a national treasure of Japan.

Tengu (天狗?, "heavenly dogs") are a class of supernatural creatures found in Japanese folklore, art, theater, and literature.

Yes it is, but it's less likely to be a reference to a random mountain and more likely to be a reference to a demon fox character, I imagine.

One Piece: Oh God, Luffy is so boss... I can't wait to see him battle Big Mam in the New World. And speaking of Big Mam, after all these years of wondering what she looked like, I gotta say it's not what I was expecting... she's fucking HUGE. The way she was drawn, I couldn't tell if she was laying down or her body was all screwed up somehow. Either way, she's definitely not a good pirate like Shanks or Whitebeard considering she'll destroy an entire island over sweets and freakin' eat her own crew just for the hell of it.

Anyone wanting to take a guess as to what her Devil Fruit power is? It look like her drool was burning the ground where it hit, so I'm guessing her ability has something to do with Stomach Acid or Acid in general... a potentially dangerous ability like that might be what makes her one of the top pirates in the Grand Line.

HxH: Looks like the Illumi was truly only concerned about Killua's safety... in a seriously fucked up way of course. I'm really curious about what this 5th rule is that Killua is keeping hidden, it has to be pretty bad since he thinks Illumi will needle-plant him again if he finds out.

And about Hisoka, I'm very confused about his motives regarding the election. What does he have to gain by killing Teradain? Hisoka himself has shown that he almost no interest in the Hunter organization or the election (besides maybe fighting the Zodiac), so why did he bother killing Teradian? He's seriously so hard to figure out sometimes.

Bleach

I am still finding it hard to believe that Ichigo actually killed some, yet alone a human shinigami hybrid. I hope Kubo draws Ichigo having bad conscious about it. That might develop Ichigo further.

Yeah that makes sense. Either an Acid or Eating based power.

Right now thats what some are going with since it would be helpful in breaking the amount of candy she eats and keeps her hungry for more.

Bleach

Yeah at the moment it seems kinda dumb that Ichigo wasn't really conflicted about it. Don't want to bring up the parallels but in YYH when Yusuke had to kill Doctor he was really hesitant and felt really bad about it (till the cop out conclusion but oh well)

I thought Teradain was the dude with the hat who went out to stop the needle-controlled people, seems like it would make sense for Hisoka to fight him since Hisoka is working with Illumi.

Well if he is dead, then Kubo should be praised for throwing out the expected and doing the unexpected. However, Ginjo wasnt willing to change, so I dont think Ichigo will blame himself.

Good Ending 108

Not done reading, but why is Ucchi surprised that Kurokawa is ok with the girlfriend news? Time and time again, it's always been established in the series that she's the type of character that wouldn't react any other way in that kind of situation.

I get the felling that this whole Fullbring mess was Kubo turning shit into his bosses to show that he is working. It got more nonsensical as it went on. He should have just gone on hiatus.

Naruto:

Yes, i'll admit this isn't the chapter we "wanted" but it was the chapter we "needed." To start things off we got some lovely action scenes with Guy and Kakashi (lol at him using the Shadow Clone jutsu) specifically, Kakashi's new chain Lightning technique was awesome. I really liked the bit where the Nine Tails converses with the 8tails. He truly and honestly does not give a "fuck." He's like, if you want my power, you're going to have to work for it Naruto.

We also FINALLY HAVE THE REASON why Naruto is so readily wants to be friends with Fox. Before he met Killer Bee, he barely talked to him but its different now because he genuinely wants to forge a friendship with the Fox, akin to Bee and his tailed beast. Naruto even admitted he was jealous of their relationship. The bit with the 4Tails was pretty humorous, and the awesome DBZ references were fucking awesome. I'm definitely eager to see the next chapter. We finally have the 9tails true name. Kurama eh, not bad at all.

Bleach:

The things I said next chapter still stands. Tite Kubo can no longer draw fight sequences. BTW I loved the transition between chapters, we didn't even see Ginjou actually die, but there he is dead on the ground. Fucking joke. Tsukishima whining like a fucking little bitch? Get out of town. That dirty boots girl is alive? Honestly, i don't even care there are so many things wrong with this chapter (this fucking arc) so her being alive is irrelevant. The time was dude dead for good though, typical considering WANK-painchi took him down. Is anyone going to bat an eye at Yukio? The fucking kid caused his parents to commit suicide, was willing to kill his own teammates and was arguably one of the more dangerous fullbring members. Seriously, the FUCK?

And it seems that Riruka is joining team Ichigo. Oh joy. I'm just glad this fucking arc is done, it was by far the worst arc in Bleach. And anyone who says otherwise is a blind fanboy, every single other arc was better than this shit. "Thank you. I was never alone."

URGHHHHHHHHHH

One Piece:

Ah here we go. One Piece was at its peak today, in what I consider to be one of the best chapters i've read in all of One Piece, and the absolute best chapter we got this week. The fishmen island arc has fully wrapped up so naturally I expected Oda to give Luffy's crew a momentary rest but NOPE. The Strawhats vs Big Mama, holy fucking SHIT. Talk about hype! Bout time too, because I can't stand people like her (protection candy... fuck that shit) Caribou getting his shit tossed was hilarious. You see, this an example of GOOD OFF PANELING. Not that garbage Tite Kubo spews in Bleach. "It was fucking boring." Luffy was a total badass enough said. Though its a shame, I think Big Mama will destroy the island.

Lolno both Hueco Mundo and Fake Karakura Town are much worse than this shit just for their length alone.

But yeah the first arc is still the best arc in the entire series and that won't ever change. Fullbringer arc could've been just as good, but it had to bring Soul Society shit into it and BAM, it became shit. It's like magic

The first arc is good but Turn Back The Pendulum was just as good to me .
It has good pacing and everything .

The first arc alone makes Bleach a 7 for me, forever haha.

Honestly, at least Hueco Mundo and Fake Karakura Town had actual FIGHTS. Like Ichigo vs Grimmjow, Ulquiorra, Aizen. The rest of the captains getting their fight (<3 Soifon) stuff like that.

But damn this arc was... oh god.

I didn't realize that was considered an arc, but I suppose it can be. It was some good shit, though I think the first arc still has the best pacing in the entire series just for the fact that Kubo was actually drawing manga rather than anime storyboards like he does now.
