In fact I will go as far as to say that DDP was a better in ring wrestler, and drew more money than Orton could ever dream.
It could've just been one of those moments.I refuse to believe Shawn Michaels would have acted like that at that stage in his career.

Here is one of the reports I was talking about btw:
And there were more here and there, I just can't find em.

I think Randy Orton's body of work this year more than speaks for itself. Quite likely the most consistently good wrestler on the roster. His matches with Punk were spectacular. His matches with Rhodes were great, and his matches with Barrett - who he used have less than zero chemistry with - have been surprisingly pleasant. His matches with Henry were, again, surprisingly good, with some great storytelling, and the outcome was hugely surprising. On TV, outside of feuds, he's had great matches with the likes of Ziggler, Sheamus, DiBiase and Kane.
I never understood the criticism of the RKO out of nowhere. It always seemed to me that it was "That's something Randy Orton does, therefore I hate it." You can't have an abrupt ending to a match, you can't go into a finishing sequence; it would appear that he's stuck between a rock and hard place.
Even his work with a microphone has been competent. He's not supposed be The Rock, Christian or CM Punk. He's not supposed to be funny or oozing charisma. He's supposed to go out there, say he's going to beat someone up later in the most threatening way possible and, hey, Bob's your uncle.
Also anyone think that it would be incredibly hard to turn Orton heel? He is SO over that he'd have to do some incredibly vile shit to get the majority of the crowd to boo him lol.
He'd have to like beat up Cena and his wife and then shit in JR's hat.
it's just one of those pointless complaints. The whole nature of the RKO makes it almost impossible to be actually set up, and when he does attempt to set it up with the ground pounding people complain about the stupid viper thing he does on the mat. Also then there are finishers which have the most contrived setups imaginable.I never understood the criticism of the RKO out of nowhere. that's why I said his wife as well lolIf he beat up Cena he'd be cheered, apart from some little jimmies.
The thing is that his whole gimmick is that he's crazy, does things of his own volition, hears voices in his head and is likened unto a snake, but that crowd just eats that shit up. He'd probably have to betray a face in a really cruel way in order to get booed, and it can't be Cena cause they already beat that horse. Also anyone think that it would be incredibly hard to turn Orton heel? Don't you think that dropping on all fours, and pounding his fists into the mat and imitating a snake is a little 1985'ish?

I would not believe it, not because of who HBK at the time, but simply because it's a random ass story on the internet. We all get stupid moments, even the most serene of us, and he was around Triple H all the time (in and out of the ring) then. That dude is poison for social interaction, and it spreads.

I really would like Cara to learn english during the time he's out, if he's going to replace Mysterio I want to hear him say how people are going to be beaten by the
Yeah but we're talking near the end of his career Shawn, not Attitude Era Shawn.hahahahaha
And wait was Pescado's post serious? I thought he was being sarcastic because Michaels is a well-known, self-centered scumbag just like HHH. He and HHH plotted to stop The Rock's first major push and title run. I don't wanna hear that HHH had influence on him; he was a grown man not a teenager.
he'd basically have to betray the most over face in the company by a mile. they seriously are, they make even the boring feuds seem like the most epic things that ever took place.Seriously, why hasn't the WWE given us a blu-ray of all these hype videos? About 50% of the time they're the best thing on a PPV
I love the idea of an RKO out of nowhere, some of his counter RKO's like the one out of Taker's chokeslam at WM21 are brilliant. But the problem as of this year is that most of them are incredibly telegraphed, it becomes the opposite of what it's supposed to be.I never understood the criticism of the RKO out of nowhere. It always seemed to me that it was "That's something Randy Orton does, therefore I hate it." It was pretty funny when he injured his arm against Edge doing the fist pound and they had to rush a count out finish.Don't you think that dropping on all fours, and pounding his fists into the mat and imitating a snake is a little 1985'ish?
"Cole look his transforming before our eyes into the viper" "My god the APEX predator" His mat skills are not that great. I don't think they are.
Its just to much.
Orton vs Orton at Wrestlemania 28!he'd basically have to betray the most over face in the company by a mile. Problem is....that's him.
Since we're talking about Orton, still one of my favorite feuds/matches of the last 10 years

What first big Rock push are you talking about? In what year?hahahahaha

if this were still the attitude era I could totally see that happening.Orton feuds with his shadow.
actually if you wanted cheap heel heat, just make him Johnny Ace's right hand man, doing his dirty work. The crowd hates that dude.thats easy. make him have an epiphany and realize the apex predator is not the way. he starts wearing suits and he sabotages other wrestlers. make him like mr H and make him interim gm and book himself for title matches. that'll get dead heat on him

Basically this.Yeah but we're talking near the end of his career Shawn, not Attitude Era Shawn.
I don't think Orton's the most over face in the company. We've just established how big an Orton fan I am, so know that I don't say this out of spite. Right now, I think Cena, Punk and, arguably, Ryder are more over than him. You might also want to include The Rock. And Triple H. And The Undertaker. And Rey Mysterio. He's somewhere in that mix, sure, but I don't think it's at the top.
What first big Rock push are you talking about? In what year?
Don't know the specifics but I read that somewhere.
That's even less helpful.
epicOne of the few times where I actually enjoyed watching Bobby Lashley:

The reason why I say that is because Rock's big push came in 99, and HBK and HHH have both said that they weren't really close friends again from 98 to about 2002. Not that they were enemies, but HBK's issues brought resentment between them, so I find it hard to believe that they patched things together to somehow sabotage the Rock, especially since I doubt HBK had much stroke in the company in 99.Don't know the specifics but I read that somewhere.
I don't know, of the non-Attitude Era people he's the most consistently over. Cena is always split to a minimum degree, and while Punk and Ryder are both very over, they're over in certain parts much more than they are in others. Orton gets a huge pop pretty much everywhere they've been all year.
So the biggest Punk/Ryder pops are bigger than Orton's, certainly, but they aren't over as evenly as he is. There's been shows where the crowd weren't that interested in Ryder, for instance, next to others like MSG that were wild for him.
They're the three I'd put at the top (and that's over Triple H, despite his best efforts for the last six months)

He can't draw a decent rating on Smackdown, so I can't agree with that.he'd basically have to betray the most over face in the company by a mile. Problem is....that's him.
no one canHe can't draw a decent rating on Smackdown, so I can't agree with that.
It's easy to tell which parts of Smackdown are real pops and not. The sound effects from WWF No Mercy with still crowd are fake (75% of most show's pops), the actual crowd cheers with people visibly standing up and cheering are real.
The WWE still fails to notice the obvious discrepancy after 12 years of Smackdown.
no one can![]()
Mm, you have a good point. I do wonder how much of the reaction you hear on SmackDown recording's are genuine sometimes, but he always does well when he appears on Raw.
Interesting sub-discussion - are we including Rey Mysterio as an 'Attitude Era person'? He was around then, yeah, but he only really hit it big well after the Attitude Era.
Smackdown was doing solid rating-wise pre-WM and wasn't doing well again until this past Fall when he lost the title and the show wasn't revolving around him.no one can![]()
