That reminds me of how many "dead" animes are still alive for me.
I still havent completed Usagi Drop or Hanasaku Iroha...or like every other show.
So while you all pine for the passing of 2011 anime, Im still experiencing it all.
Still more yuru yuri. Still more Penguin Drum. Life is good.

Oh! My Goddess - 6

Megumi looks pretty different in the anime adaptation, more tomboyish but with a brown light attachment.

I hope some of her stories are part of the anime.

Which reminds me that the german publisher must sell the manga again. It's a shame, I can't buy it anymore - but then again, they mirrored it (pretty common in the 90s :s ).

Hmm, Katanagatari. Animated by the same studio that did Steins;Gate, NOT SHAFT. It's only 12 episodes though, I wonder if they tried to fit the whole story in and failed or just did what they felt like doing and then ended it with GO READ THE LNs SUCKERS!
With the novels one new book was published each month. Safe to say they weren't long enough to have problem covering the whole book in one 50 minutes episode

Smile Precure

I've never watched Precure, and since this is the 8th one, I think I'd better not start now.
It isn't a requirement.

Speaking of this, RightStuf has the Season 1+2 collection for just $30. I remember some impressions saying the second season was weaker, but considering that's how much they're charging for S1 and 2 individually... worth it?
Yes.

well i think i'm gonna go spend the next hour or so wondering why i spent the better half of my day watching all 12 episodes of Infinite Stratos

oh god and there's that OVA too huh...
You're one of us obviously.

that reminds me i haven't finished Hanasaku Iroha

i think i stopped at around episode 7 or 8 for some reason

is it still worth finishing?

Either way, it's probably still better than anything LOLSHAFT did. Maybe I'll look into this one.

Holy shit watch it! When it originally aired, they did one episode a month for a whole year, with each episode being 50 minutes long. It was definitely up there on my list of shows I loved last year, is gorgeous, the fights are great, I liked the plot, and the ending for me was satisfying.

Cherrio!

yume does have totally awesome hair.

The second season was called Mahōtsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto: Natsu no Sora
and it featured this girl instead:

K-On! 2

Yui's a rather "special" person. Who knew eyebrows could contain so much bargaining power!

Yeah the way she got that guitar was pretty ridiculous.

K-On is a really cute show though. glad I have it. I am sure they will release season two at some point but I havent seen anything about it.

Absolutely, it has an excellent ending, even if the middle is rather wobbly.
I still don't understand the anime fandom. I just like to watch it but y'all critique it as if you were the Roger Ebert of anime.

I don't really think anime fandom as a whole really engages in any criticism of the works that they watch. It's really just the vocal minority, who engage in the majority of the discussion, that like to discuss anime to that extent.

I like to discuss certain shows in that way, but mostly I'm in it for the fun.
Back when I first started collecting it, anime was still a really amazing thing. It was this mana from Japan that felt really special to watch because it was so foreign. I was so excited when companies began licensing the stuff en masse and I started buying it. and buying it. and buying it. A half dozen releases a month maybe. Suncoast used to LOVE me. Then I got over the novelty of it and it just became something I like to enjoy. I like the diversity of it. Anime goes so many different directions and has really matured into something that people of all kinds can enjoy, although the visibility of moe and roided up shounen shows has placed a stigma on it that I dont think it can ever overcome. But fuck it, I love the stuff. INJECT IT INTO MY VEINS UNTIL I BREATHE MY LAST.

Will watch gingercatball, maybe Aquarion Evol, though I will flip the fuck out if they
end with see you in 12,000 years! again
might watch Bodacious Space Pirates too, it seems stupid yet awesome like Ben-To was and has some solid staff behind it

I've been looking forward to Gothicmade for a LONG time so it better turn out good :(

Steins; Gate 23

It's ending, and I don't want it to end. Why the hell did this show have to be so good? It has EVERYTHING. The key to my fucking heart. A psuedo-scfi narrative with an actual logic behind it, thriller elements, solid direction, solid ost, a fun cast, a moe man, and romance. It's so. Good. ;_;.

Remember Redline? I'm sure it will look good, at least.

Well, sporadically solid direction.

Okabe + Kurisu romance plot stuff (apparently) and the gang's adventures in America
are coming in the form of an OVA bundled with BD vol. 9 thankfully.

PV here.

El Psy Congroo.

Thankfully there's an OVA and a movie to look forward to! And let's not forget the English VN translation. :)

edit: beaten on the ova but still!

Will watch:
Bodacious Space Pirates because... I dunno, it would be better with real pirates instead of space pirates. Space pirates are overdone.[/LIST]

It's true, anime has been there since the 70's. You'd think the otaku-fetish industry could come up with some more original ideas.

Standards vary. Anime is no exception.

It is a catchy op. Show was decent, though fair warning, it's not a very conclusive ending.

Then I also present one sex-hair from many years ago.

Do you just have a folder of these sitting around?
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED HD Remaster (never seen the original)
Which reminds me, as I've never seen it either I guess that'll go on my 'to watch' pile as well.
Standards vary. Anime is no exception.

What I mean to say is, the term 'anime fandom' doesn't really tell you very much. Unlike say, Star Wars fandom or Harry Potter fandom, anime fandom is extremely broad and you don't need to know any 'key texts' to participate. It's so broad as to be practically non-descriptive.

It's kind of like how everyone watches films, but we don't label everyone who watches film 'a film fan', yet if you watch anime you're an 'anime fan' (sometimes).

Well, people are common described as fans of various kinds of film, and anime is one of those.

It totally is.

Haha I see you finaly cracked, been trying to get to watch it for long time now.

Only for mechanical animation (in general)!

This is true actually. Mechanical animation and machines/vehicles in general used to be lovingly crafted by hand and not simply substituted with super smooth CG and 3D models. It was more personal, and you could really tell how skilled the animators used to be.

Its hilarious when people ask me how I dyed my hair so black and why it looks so straight and asian, and I'm like, I did nothing to it you fool!

Looks like the only things worth watching this time will be the Daily Lives of Highschool Boys and the bath anime.

Natsume S3 - 12

Bloody hell, how many different variations of the same theme can you do? Well unless the last episode throws a curveball this whole season has been monotonus at best. The show is split up into mini arcs, so they could have at least mixed it up a bit better than they didn't.

Have you considered that that's a dangerous amount of anime? Especially if you're working through your backlog as well.

It's not as if I'm actually going to watch all those shows, especially the ones on the "probably check out" list. Even though I said I'd watch Natsume S4 all the way through, I haven't even gotten to S2 or S3 yet (mostly due to your complaining), so I might not end up doing that at all. In the continuing shows, I'm only up to date on one of them and actively trying to catch up on one other. It's not as much as it looks; I just like to make plans that exceed my grasp.

Plus, even if I were to watch everything I listed, it wouldn't be as bad as some of the people in here.

So did anyone recommend something Cajun hasn't seen yet? Did he say if he saw Kaleidostar or not?

I wonder if he owns Kino's Journey. Because if so, whatever, carry on, but if not, I'm gonna be all >:|

Oh, I wonder if Cajun's seen Gunslinger Girl. Me and my best pal got, like, zero recognition for our costumes at NYCC, and no strong reactions after we said who we were. It's got some adorable :cajun used to tragic affect and some pretty awesome action.
