Where is the sarcasm detector?! Why can't people allow me to stealth edit peacefully?!
Too slow! Both my sarcasm detector and your edit.
(By the way, is it just me or does the "last edited" text now only show up if your post was quoted by someone before the edit?)

Bah, stupid Lord of Apocalypse. I've reached a stage at which I'd have to grind quite a few levels to beat any new quest. Guess it's time to give Disgaea a longer whirl.

See, another unsubstantiated LOL! :P

(You don't need to grind to complete the main story in any Disgaea game. Well at least in 1-3, I haven't played 4 yet. The grinding reputation comes exclusively from the optional post-game content)
Yep, I know that. Played 1 and 2, although I didn't complete any Disgaea yet.

Nope, actually even when it's on I hardly feel the impact from Wifi and BT (on PSP GO even BT noticeably shortens the life).

I tried to be comprehensive here (all systems are set to max brightness):

Good comparison.

The 3DS screen is so incredibly dull, I must admit. I just played through Cave Story 3D, which is already a dark game, and it was actually difficult to see the game at most times of the day. You pretty much needed to play in a darker room.

Then its reputation is not undeserved ;)

I remember hearing about how dark the game was. Surely we're not talking Castlevania COTM levels of dark here?

A lot of 3DS games feature bright colour palletes to compensate for the dull colour space of the 3DS, OoT 3D is probably the most noticable example. Look at how the 3DS version compares to the N64 one.

That over saturation is no accident. GBA games would use the same technique (but to a much larger degree) to appear more visable on the dark GBA's screen.

Discovered two problems with my vita on my flight back from Japan.

First, the blotchy screen. Wow ita bad in person, and you don't need a pitch black room to see it - a dimmed plane cabin was plenty. I don't have a problem with a little lighter blacks, its the random/blotchy nature that's ugly. Luckily its only rarely seen as its only noticable on full black screens.

Second, I'm all for 'innovative' control methods, but I wish they weren't forced on me. Played uncharted and there is a bit where you need to hold a paper up to the light to read it. You literally hold the vita up to a light. That's cool (and not a plot spoiler at all), but I wad on a damn plane with dimmed lights. I had to take my vita into the toilets to complete that puzzle!

Its like any minigames on DS that makes me use the microphone by blowing or making a noise. I'm not doing that on a bus/train thanks. Give me alternatives, no matter how cute you think it is

That's both extremely awesome and incredibly annoying in the wrong situation. (Which would be easily fixed by a button-based -- or maybe back touch -- alternative)

Agreed on the second point. For the light puzzle I spent 2 minutes holding my vita up to my room light. For some reason light wasn't captured all that well even though my lights are as bright as fuck.

And don't get me started on the charcoal rubbings.

Were you holding the front to the light or the back?

Sunlight for me solved the puzzle in like 20 seconds, but using artificial light takes so long sigh..

Pointing out with absolutely no commentary, I like that when Kojima says MGS3DS is a remake everyone calls him a liar, when Square says FFX is coming, everyone thinks it's a remake.

*sigh*

I'll probably end up getting both.

Well, we haven't seen what FFX HD looks like. I suspect it's more like MGS HD and be a retouched upres than a full remake.

Of course they won't make a HD remake. Afair, there are areas resembling cities in X. Think how many years it would take to remake the game because of that.

Cross game chat on the go is great. This is one of the major pluses for me. The other day my friend used tethering from his phone(Omina 7) to play me on UMVC3 and it worked perfectly(no visible lag).

Do not know if anyone has posted a video showing off cross game chat stuff yet so here:

Yeah, there have been a couple of updates to minna no golf I think. And at least there seem to be no issues updating cross-region

Oh no, nothing like that. CotM appeared dark simply due to the lack of a back light. You needed MORE light to play it while 3DS works better in the dark.

Cave Story is still lit, but it just appears really dim and difficult to see in a bright room. The issue is compounded by the reflective screen which only serves to obscure the visuals. I actually had to stop playing several times due to the environment rendering it unplayable.

Well, hell. It finally arrived Stateside, where it peacefully co-exists with the 3DS! It took forever to import, and I'm still waiting on the memory card to arrive(I must reiterate that without one, the device does feel pretty limited! No photos, demos, music, etc.). But it sure is beautiful!

And the Reset to switch accounts is super easy (that intro Movie must die...)!

i love sony launches now, you don't even have to preorder, just roll in and buy whenever you damn please.

God damn that screen is huge. I was already amazed how big the PSP screen is when I took it out for the first time in months. My brother's 3DS was also seemingly huuuge when I watched him play Mario, but dat 5". Mario for 3DS is aliased as fuck, but when held farther away it's free AA. Not worried about jagged Uncharted anymore.

I want a Vita and I don't want to wait.

Not sure if it's been answered, but how are PSP/Vita multiplat titles sold on PSN? Will there be two separate Time Travelers on PSN for instance?

How so? The PSP and the Vita are afterall two different systems with two different architecture, so you have to have two versions of the game (unless to play the PSP version through emulation on the Vita of course). It can be that the publishers offers bundle packs or discounts if you buy both versions though.

They'd better be bundled with a 50% off discount. Same online platform, no excuses. I hope Level-5 doesn't screw it up.

It can happend, but personally i wouldnt expect it. I cant recall to have seen such bundle before at least. The game is afterall for two different platforms, just that they are sold in the same online store.

im sure i missed the discussion, but are the Japanese Vita retail games also downloadable on PSN? is Uncharted vita downloadable on the Japanese PSN? will the US/Euro Vita launch games be downloadable on their respective PSN?

Yeah. I'm not sure if every Vita game is up on PSN yet, but Sony have said that they want to bring every Vita game to digital download.

If you've got a Vita, check out the Gravity Daze demo live area for a New Year's card from Kitten! (You can save it to use as wallpaper by holding down on it until "save" pops up).
