This one year alone, I think I've read more manga than I ever have in my entire lifetime, just because of the folks in this thread throwing out names and all the free time I found myself sitting in front of a computer with not much else doing. I had fun with a few, lost track of a ton beyond those in my favorites tab and have been going back to catch up on some things here and there.

That being said, some comments on what I've read recently:

Soul Eater

I really don't know why I can't get excited for much going on in this arc except for a huge sense of dread regarding Stein. He's showing all the sings of the character most destined to die, but he's too fucking cool for that. :(

Art was all over even though I'm still 100% a sucked for Soul Eater's aesthetic. Finally, the Chrona subplot... Well honestly, I wonder whether or not they'll go full steam and kill him/her off, but if she dies, my idea that the types of madness are being succeeded by younger generations won't hold much water.

Soul Eater Not! (8 - 10)

So I'm confused, is Jackie gay for Kim or are they just teasing? :lol

Liz & Patty showing up in this series was unexpected, I'm glad we get to see more of their bad side though, it didn't get touched on enough during the main series.

One Piece

Finished all of Fishman Island after stockpiling chapters from the Otohime murder flashback, and I forgot how much I like this series. At the same time, this arc must have been murder to go through at a weekly rate, especially with everything involving Noah. Hody was a weaksauce arc baddie though. Also, holy shit Big Mom battle imminent.

Useless Meat, err... Maoyuu Maou Yuusha

Aww, Demon Queen is happy to make friends with the humans. Creating gunpowder though, that's quite a leap for the sake of helping them out, even if it was just a suggestion. The scene with Hero was nice too, I always like seeing those two interact.

Crime Edge

Cool story, but I have to wonder how long it'll stay like this with the threat of the main character's killing good twisting his mind. The item is laced with intent to kill/"cut" from his previous owner's murderous spree after all.

More later.

Kongou Banchou vol 2

Yeah, this is a pretty legit delinquent battle series. Right up there with Beelzebub. Kongou is an awesome protag with his fists and hair and stuff.

Seriously hope someone picks this up again by the time I get caught up. Last translated chapter was over a year ago :/

Shaman King Zero

Just selectively re-read most of the original Shaman King, I really miss this series a lot, the characters and the theme is just so charming, it's good to see the author make a return with this one shot (I wouldn't mind reading the arc on Hana, he should continue).

For Zero, it's certainly cool to see he went back to a similar style he used at the beginning of SK, and it's a change to read about the gloomy side of Yoh and how his character developed during his childhood days, a pretty heart warming ending too.

Hope Seller Tsubaki volume 5

The first story in the volume was less depressing/gruesome than usual, at least on the surface, as the dude that made Kagami have a premonition must be the evil dude of a couple volumes ago, which means he might use her to hit Tsubaki.
The other story, about a girl "kidnapped by the Gods" though, went back to the usual gruesome/a bit depressing mood I'm used to by now (and lots of tits, delicious tits, but those are everywhere anyways).
Tsubaki letting Hosen get pulled into such a predicament is puzzling though. I don't really get her motivations.

It's old news, bust I learned today, as I went to look at the website of a certain publisher, that Ubel Blatt vol 11 will release Feb 9 at the same time in Japan, France and Italy. I don't know if I should be just happy or ecstatic. I would have never thought I could see a manga volume published at the same time here as it was published in Japan.

The ending is pretty awesome.

My God, Golden boy turned to utter shit since that miho arc. Does it get better? I'm at the queen of tokyo arc thingy, and it fucking sucks

I stopped at that arc where the girl really doesn't seem to be affected by him and at that point it started to wear out its welcome imo so i will go on a limb and say no it doesn't get better.

The best person to answer this is Shouta though since he was reading the fucking sequel at some point.

Easy. Drop it and never touch anything Tatsuya Egawa again. He's a shit author!

ST&RS 20

That was pretty nice and the suspense it tried to make. Kind of funny that they tried to make the head of ST&RS look at angry at the cost but then cast aside that the billions is rather cheap.

Chapter 62, the one with the Moonlight Sonata, you? I actually watched the anime years ago when it was on German TV but I had no idea it was such a long-running series. Mind-blowing.

480ish.

I remember the anime episode for the Moonlight Sonata episode. It was pretty cool.

It must be like heaven to live in Italy or France if you are a manga fan. You guys always get the coolest shit and now you are getting them same day as Japan.

I wish it was that way for all of Europe. Although I guess I should be grateful that virtually everything that reaches the US comes out here as well, which simply isn't the case with anime...

I believe bought Italy & France got all parts of Jojo right? So by that I'd say that's freaking awesome while here in the US we only have part 3.

Oh god, two new Teppu chapters and they were good. So good. And I want more and want to know how it hoes on.

Someone, please, give me more Teppu chapters. D:

Hideout 4-8

Miki is such a bitch. She left the kid alone and she blames the husband who had no idea she left. At least check that he heard you before leaving the place.

I feel like I missed some philosophical message in chapter 8, but all what I got from it is that the MC was a fucking psycho killer from the start.

So I was checking around

I didn't know Giant Killing(soccer manga/made into a 26 ep anime) was still ongoing at 207 chapters.

Scanlation group is far behind but that's generally the case. Great to know that I have a back catalog to read.

I just love how the releases are so weird. They have two simultaneous release schedules one for the 60ish chapters and one for the 100ish chapters.

I'm planning on starting it once the old releases catch up to the current one.

I'd like to wait as well but when I'm done with the anime I might not ahaha.

Kongou Banchou vol 4

Damn, this really is a standard battle shounen right down to the 1 on 1 fights. What's awesome is they're all maintaining a sense of absurdist humor while still able to convey legit strategies and a sense of tension. This is the kind of stuff that is difficult to pull off without it feeling like an asspull. Just one more thing it has in common with Beelzebub.

Also, the banchous that joined Akira are awesome. I think Gouriki might be my favorite. Her fight on the logs was great.

ST&RS 20

Man this is just not interesting. Fighting against tornadoes and stuff. These space problems just look so silly when compared to the stuff in Planetes. Anyway, that dude at the end is the villain? He sure does look evil.

The later chapters start right after the anime ending. Not much seems to have been left out either. Ecept the first chapter which takes place entirely in England and doesn't really affect the rest of the manga.

Starscream vs. Keroro? Okay, it's just a mini manga marketing stunt, but the absurdity fits Keroro Gunsou just fine. (I did immediately imagine a frame of Gintoki reading Jump, shouting "how do WE get that kind of sponsorship?!" though)

Shaman King

Oh hey Faust good timing wait a second why is Faust in a wheelchair wait a second WHY DOES SHE HAVE LEGS WAIT A SECOND WHY IS FAUST IN A WHEELCHAIR OH MY GOD FAUST

FAUST

OH MY GOD

A chapter of One Piece has more story and events in it than an entire volume of Bleach, so fair trade!

Going to be getting big three withdrawals pretty soon...
