Another looks interesting. i just hope it doesn't consist of a thousand buckets of blood. Otherwise...winter sucks. Surprise me.

I need to make sure they don't find out so I can keep up the appearance of normality.
You're not too deep in the rabbit hole yet.

Don't throw it all away.
I watch a lot of foreign films in order to maintain my image as a pretentious, pseudo-intellectual snob, so I've gotten pretty good at simultaneously eating & watching subtitled entertainments over the years.

::sips tea with pinky out::
I think hispters are pretty annoying, but oddly enough I'm fine with ironic/self aware hipsters.

But how long does one continue?

When I was 11, it was okay to like CCS, Gundamu and all that crap and talk about it with friends. But they've grown away from anime, while I kept at it through all those years. Here I am 9 years later, still acting like a "normal" person. I'm sick of it.

Is anyone else a closet otaku irl? I'm not ashamed of it as a hobby, but if my friends find out, i'm in for some societal consequences. And will probably labelled as "that guy" among my closeknit group of friends.

I need to find new friends.

Nope. no closet otakuing here. I used to be, but then it kind of faded as time went on, really. Now everybody knows my love for jpop, animu, manga... though...You think just being into anime's bad? Wait till people get a whiff of VN from you. Even other nerds will start hating, there is no escape.

Time to buy one of these to let all your friends and loved ones know what's up.

Blah. I love all those things, except for jpop. Last thing I want someone to see is my copy of Koihime Musou.

But I mean.. how do you break it to them without it being completely awkward? Actually, no, scratch that. My friends are the type that will ruthlessly destroy a fellow friend over anything embarrassing. I can't even imagine admitting this hobby.

My friend bought me a Mugi figurine as a joke. When I accidentally revealed that I knew the names of all the characters on K-On!!!!!! I think she realized I had actually watched the show.

But crucially, she doesn't know HOW MUCH.
Did she buy it thinking you didn't watch much anime or something?

Is Morita-san any good? I was thinking of checking it out given how short ep's are...

Hard to say, mainly because it's so short and they end abruptly, but amusing nonetheless, hang on I just said it was good.

no I actually do find roaches cute.

I am now disenchanted by that tag you have.

Jeez y'all reminding me i've still got some 40 something episodes of CCS to watch for the first-ish time.... wait that's a good thing.

Even my coworkers know I love anime.
I have brought cricckets to work as a snack before so they arent really surprised by anything i like.

Circles. You don't need to not associate with someone because they're not really into animu and or everything weaboo, it doesn't need to be all that extreme. Just get over the stigma of even being considered a nerd and also associate a circle that does.

I'm not sure why you're even defending Flash. The world would be better without its existence, because then people would be forced to put effort into keyframing shit the good old fashioned way.
But we wouldn't have had things like FROGMAN's EAGLE TALON, like in the case of many other amateurs that want simple and cheap ways for transmitting a direct visual entertainment:

For example, Frogman can create a work at 1/10th the budget of Miyazaki and end up with something just as entertaining. He is afforded a large degree of freedom despite his work stipulations.

Also, interestingly enough, they had Yuasa help out with character design in a flash-less OVA(Or something) that they did for the show.
More to come from the special duo Mr. Yuasa/Ms. Choi! Patiently waiting for their work in the upcoming Dofus animated series (http://www.catsuka.com/news/2011-02...l-animation-7-long-metrages-et-autres-projets).

CCS is a little overhyped here

Only seen the dub of CCS but I remeber it being better then sailor moon *runs*

*comes back with nunchucks*

Come at me bros

well maybe it's cause I haven't seen it in so long unlike sailor moon.

but CCS has

+less dead weight(less usless characters)
+less beating over the head with the same stock animation at least they switch up the stock animation
+less formulaic with the episode playing out differently with every new card sakura gets

Yes it's overrated so is sailor moon.

Everybody should stop trying to make anime unfun.
There's nobody else to blame but yourself if you're not confident about defending your own taste.

Honestly I really think you guys take a lot of the fun out of watching this stuff.
Kind of how like gaming side has taken al ot of the fun out of videogames. I dont really understand it. Maybe I just see things more simply. Its hard to enjoy anything when youre nitpicking it all the time.
Amounting any sort of criticism to such a level is a bit insulting actually. It either bothers you or doesn't. Ultimately, you decide if it will or not. It's very much possible to enjoy something as much as you're critical of it.

Although you lose the fun of being able to enjoy "bad shows" unironically, you do gain the entertainment value from watching and mocking "bad shows" with friends, and convincing other people to watch bad stuff as well to see their reactions.
I'd have to respectfully disagree. You can also be more aware of why you like "bad shows" ironically. Being informed doesn't have to change your attitude towards them.

I see it on the gaming side too, people actively looking for things to hate about in a game. Being critical and being unable to please are not one and the same thing in my opinion.
Not sure what you mean.

It all depends on how far removed from reality you are really, Star Trekkies, who go out wearing their Spock uniform shouting clingon are pretty much damn unapproachable and need to be bitchslapped back to Earth.

*ahem*

Speaking of spock uniforms and other such nerd paraphernalia, this berzerkah costume is pretty cool.

Unfortunately the voyeurs were too busy peeping underneath the skirt of some random teeny cosplayers no doubt.

My god, can't stop laughing @ Caster cosplayer. Those eyes!

What is this "Tokyo Scum Brigade" site though? Never heard of it before.

e: Damn, didn't notice Dresden's avatar change until just now.

Please let that be a Haguloli.

There is a soccer anime and an anime based on something similar to tennis this season. What more could you possibly want?

So. How long into the season do you think it will be before either a) American or b) Black Muscles come into play?

There's nobody else to blame but yourself if you're not confident about defending your own taste.

There's a difference between being confident in defending your own taste and a bunch of hiveminders criticizing it constantly in the most abrasive manner possible. Not saying that happens here though.

Persona 4 13:

:cajun?

So they finally did something original with the anime, and while it looks like they'll cover the S-links from Yu's perspective, they at least found a way to make the non-team S-links seem interesting from an anime perspective. I suppose there is an ounce of originality over at the team animating this thing... although 1 out of 24 ain't a great track record.

Also, I haven't really been watching the show, but did they skip over the Sun S-link? Still not sure if they're doing drama girl or band girl in this adaptation.

I was thinking the ultra fabulous European player would come into play first.

I loved Hungry Heart Wild Striker because it literally just threw out all these damn tropes out there in the first episode. Not even trying to hide it. Really underrated football anime in general, definitely prefer it over the snoozefest that is Captain Tsubasa. The best part of the series is how it tries to remain realistic while implementing ridiculous feats that would make Prince of Tennis blush a bit.

To be fair, that's exactly how I've seen Sailor Moon, so I'm not really defending that series.

But Cardcaptors is awful, dude.

I disagree and agree.

I thought it started pretty good but started to turned bad right around the end of the first arc, dropped after loseing interest midway through shota clowrey arc.

But still I put it above sailor moon for having less of that bullshit like single purpose characters, stock animation overload, tiring rehashed formula that got old over100eps ago. At least CCS episode played out differently and didn't feel like deja vu.
