It makes me really sad to read your opinions on the show, because of how much I've come to love the series.
The anime really isn't the best way to experience the series. Unfortunately, there was no best way to do so, unless they had like 48+ episodes to work with or something. They made a decision as to how to handle it, and I understand why they made the decision that they did, but there was really no easy answer. It felt much more like a series specifically for fans of the manga; for us, we got to see these beloved characters animated and full of life and speaking with their own voices. That's all I really wanted, and I got that.
If you read the manga, the journey the two main characters make is far more powerful. Nothing ever just happens—everything is a small step that leads to another small step. You say the author doesn't seem to understand what these characters are really going through—I say it's a little strange how much she does, given that, so far as I know, she isn't transgender herself.
And the part about wanting to "be cute"—that is absolutely, completely realistic. One of the biggest parts of the early days of the process is that complete disconnect between who you feel like and what you see in the mirror. Having the opportunity to change that—through clothing and whatnot—is one of the easiest and more powerful factors in the early stage of coming to truly understand your gender identity. For a character like Nitorin at that point, that physical change to "being cute" can also greatly affect his emotional and mental side. For now, elements like that are absolutely where his moments of contentment would come from—a little bit later in life, of course, that alone won't be.
Seriously, though, read the manga. It's like if people were raving about this "Star Wars thing", and then all you saw was the cantina scene. It's providing you a glimmer of the story and its characters, but unfortunately just that glimmer.

Well I was hoping for an OP change after last episode but I guess Im not going to get one, bummer.
In retrospect episode 25 felt pretty weird considering what happened in 24. But its cool to see theyve gone back to it rather than Narujust suddenly getting over the fact the dude she loved literally died and vanished while he was in her arms ;_;.
Hahaha, Poor Umino. He is so utterly clueless. But he redeemed himself later in the episode.

Decent episode overall, this whole current arc honestly feels pretty weak. Hoping they dont spend 7 episodes on it.
The lack of Umiono is the only big black mark on the record of PGSM.
Persona 4 is truly a great work when it comes to "quality" animation.
Hope they fix animation mistakes, such as double Chie, in the blu rays.
I find really hard hype myself up for anything involving Kenji Nakamura after how awful C was.
First CCS, now Wandering Son... when will this madness end?!

any named character Okabe knows is involved in the overall plot, even if its just some random dude.

I just watched the Eden of the East television series. Enjoyed it a lot. Next step is the two movies, but I recall reading a while back that they weren't very good. What do you guys think? Worth watching for the closure, or should I just skip them?

The youma of the week was pretty cool this week, that power was pretty spiffy.
Tuxedo Kamen got his
ass whooped, almost got totally impaled by that crystal but luckily Sailor Moon came to the rescue.
Another really meh episode, really just couldn't care less about these youma and the big chase.
Hmm. I dunno. Twin angels song is catchier. With this kind of opening it is all about how much cute and how well it drills like an alien parasite into your skull and sets up shop there until you find yourself singing it at work to the abject horror of all those around you. Expect a talk from the boss on tuesday.

All of Rozen Maiden is good. Even the artbox (which is like smooth velvet justice)
I feel like that was in there. But I haven't watched the series since it was airing so I will postpone my thoughts till I go back and watch some of it again.
I am guessing that you are referring to how children (Boys) would act in real life versus how they act in the show and I can see this as a legitimate complaint From my experience living in both Mexico and the U.S., kids are assholes and when it comes to LGBT individuals they become even larger assholes. There is no shortage of stories about kids bullying LGBT kids to the point of destruction, but the show doesn't really show it to this extent. There is some bullying caused by going to school dressed as a girl (Thanks Doi) but we don't really see that much. I don't really know what I am getting at except that the fact that he is being bullied is enough for the story and that going to extremes is not necessary; however, it might be because of some cultural divide that I am not aware of.
I still think that the reason there is a focus on clothing/dressing is because appearance is such a large issue. But opinions and such.

Oh yeah, this is from the studio that animates Gundam. I'm glad they brought Ray Amuro's original voice actor into this; it helps greatly with the parody. It's a sign of how much I've been able to absorb by osmosis from anime fandom that I'm able to say that, as well as get several of the other gags, without having seen any of the original Gundam series.

I think they are worth watching (how can one turn down the chance to hear School Food Punishment?!). I would make sure to watch them back to back though.
I have the movies. I havent actually watched them though, but I did enjoy the series a lot. Usually that means I should enjoy the movies.
I'm off again from Saturday to Wednesday night, so hopefully I can squeeze in some anime viewing now that holidays and all my aunts moving and stuff is well out of the way.

There's no doubt Senjou is the best in Bake. But it's already clear Kanswag is the best of Nise.

Your opinion here is far more informed and weighty, so I'll trust you on it. I would have liked the show to sell me on the importance of what's going on, and I just wasn't getting that out of it.
I didn't really get a sense of internal strife that would lead me to believe the author is developing the characters beyond the surface level. And I didn't feel like there was a lot of change in characters between the beginning and end of the show, and most events seemed to leave the characters nonplussed, with very little emotional response to the things going on around them.
There is a distinct lack of conflict to the show, which I consider an essential component to any story. Maybe this absence of conflict is the reason I don't feel the author has a particularly strong grasp of masculinity, or what it means to stray from or towards it.
I'll probably try it out, but ultimately the anime has to stand on its own as an entity separate from other works. I get there are constraints, and that there can be a number of difficulties when dealing with a story that's holds as many complexities as this one, but as an adaptation of a larger work the Wandering Son anime just feels fairly incomplete and poorly constructed from a narrative perspective to me. It's like just a few pieces of the puzzle are here, and they show a reflection of something grander but on their own they don't exactly hold up.
Also, Sentai licensed Inu x Boku SS for BD/DVD release this year, so it's probably next on the simulcast train.
I haven't been keeping exact count, but between NIS and Sentai about 6-7 of this season's shows have already been picked up for home release before even airing a single episode.

They do this because they know people like me will buy something if it sounds vaguely interesting. I have found some enjoyable stuff in this way, just buying something at random.
I wish Funimation did the same thing for Tatami Galaxy/House of Five Leaves.
I agree with this.
Maybe NISA can license something. they pick some really strange shows to license and then spend a lot of money on nice packaging and artbooks. Of course I really love that they do this and I have already collected half a dozen of their boxsets because of it.

NISA did pick up two shows from this season, Natsume and Brave 10. And I agree how oddly quiet Funi has been so far.

AS much as I love Najica I am surprised I have not yet bought Agent Aika. It has been in my "shopping cart" at rightstuf for a while though, patiently waiting for me to pull the trigger.

Funimation should get Symphogear or surprise me and pick up Ben-to, unless they thought this season hasnt been all that quality or are saving all announcements for cons throughout the year?

Dennou Coil was a pretty big bomb wasn't it? That's probably why.
CCS isn't overrated. It is a very good moe moe hnnngh show.
It is well written, entertaining (what Ive seen of it), and memorable. I do not expect world class quality from a show like that, just a solid take on the magical girl genre and thats what it is. There isnt another magical girl show I would put over it in many categories. It just does everything well.

Daily Lives of High School Boys is also a TV Tokyo show and I would have expected Crunchyroll to announce that by now. Since it's the show I'm most looking forward to this season, I'll be disappointed if they don't get it.
