:jnc. You wish.

Spagnuolo couldn't string together 11 wins in 3 years and you want the Eagles to promise him Head Coach over Reid?

What? Not over Ried at all, but I could see them telling him he is next inline if things dont work out. Luire said that Ried wont be getting an extension this year, so next year is his make of break season. If the Eagles miss the playoffs Ried will be out for sure. I could definitely see them letting Spags take over at that point.

Right, but wouldn't you want a, you know, good coach to take over?

You would view that as...a good thing?

10-38 dude

Right, but wouldn't you want a, you know, good coach to take over?

I dont think his record with the Rams is indicative of if he is a good coach or not. Honestly I have no idea who I would want them to hire if they miss the playoffs next year. There really are not any exciting names out there.

Edit: People are mis-reading what I am saying. I do not want Spags as HC. I want the Eagles to say or do what ever they have to so that he becomes the DC. With him as Dc they win the NFC East easily and Ried stays as HC.

Andy Reid has 10 post season wins. Steve Spagnuolo has won 10 freaking games.

You're a lunatic if you think he is an upgrade. Not because of the above stat, it's just kind of a funny aside, but because Reid is an above average coach in a sea of fucking shit. Spag's is a Hall of Fame level coordinator. He is a train wreck as a head coach.

Speaking of....where is Jim Fassel these days?

It'll be Chuck Pagano. When will teams learn that it's Ray Lewis, not the Defensive Coaches that make this defense go? Marvin Lewis, Mike Nolan, Jack Del Rio, Rex Ryan, Mike Singletary. I'm probably forgetting somebody, as I'm making this list on the shitter.

Marvin Lews is proving himself to be a pretty damn good head coach. He is saddled with the absolute worst GM, the dregs of society and a continually revolving door of talent at the coordinator level, yet he has made the team into a winner more than once and took a crazy young team (at key positions) to the playoffs.

I thought it was a massive mistake to bring him back, but he did a masterful job this year. I'd call him AFC coach of the year, easy.

This might be a myopic fan's view of head coaching, but hypothetically speaking if I was the coach of a team thin in skill players, trench positions, or both, I would utilize my scheme to cover for my deficiencies. It seems like there are far too many coaches who take what they are given and apply their scheme to the players, their talents be damned.

Why don't coaches rely on trickery more? Fake punts on third and short, going for it on 4th down, onside kicks. Spags knew his team was shit yet still played as if he could go blow for blow with the top teams in the league. I wouldn't want anything to do with a guy like that as my head coach.

Because it's a huge risk. If they fail, it's generally the fault of the coach, not the players. When the coach calls a play outside the norm, he is putting the spotlight on himself. When you just call standard offensive plays and the players fail to execute, you buy yourself a few years.

Want to rock the boat? Ask Josh McTebow how well that works out.

That's what I figure, but c'mon, it's not like Spags didn't have an idea he would be fired after rifling off two wins this year. Did he seriously expect different results with a shortened offseason and largely the same roster?

That's the one thing I can admire about Hue Jackson, he pulls out all the stops. Too bad his team is undisciplined as hell.

Spurrier was nearly laughed out of the league... but in retrospect, he wasn't all that bad for the Redskins in this era.

line up for a punt on third and short then fake it anyway? Like it!

Fired from the Rams yes, but not from the coaching profession in general. He has future jobs to think about. No one wants to hire a guy who is going to turn their team into a gimmick joke the minute the ship starts sinking.

I'll give him some credit. And look what happens when you put him with our defense: Superbowls and arguably the best defensive season performance of all time.

Steve Spagnuolo Expected to Join the Philadelphia Eagles by End of the Week:

"Spagnuolo, let go by the St. Louis Rams last week, is expected to be back in Philadelphia by the end of the week. The Eagles released a secondary coach over the weekend, so they have flexibility to move around the staff and bring Spagnuolo back as an assistant head coach, if not defensive coordinator.

If Andy Reid wants to retain embattled defensive coordinator Juan Castillo in some other capacity, that's a possibility as well, according to league sources. Spagnuolo is a disciple of former Eagles defensive guru Jim Johnson, and was much-liked during his eight-year stint on Andy Reid's staff.

Spagnuolo wanted to take time off last week, according to a league source, but expect his phone to start ringing quickly."

Fuck yes this is great news!!

But this is based on the same assumptions I posted about last week. Nothing confirmed. Though the silence from Reid (he usually meets the media by now after a season has ended) does indicate some changes within the staff.

Fingers crossed!

Eagles talent>>>>>>Rams talent

But I agree with yankeehater that it should be something they use to entice him.

Plus they have the Raiders two first round picks now right? One this year and one next year?

If they work those picks right, in addition to their own picks, they could turn into one of the better teams in the league.

So after a day of traveling and cleaning/reorganizing, I'm back on campus..now the wait begins for the weekend.

Cannot wait for either NFC game, but now that I can't get Packers Insider I'm running out of stuff to read..gonna be a long week.

I can write a few articles about the Packers for $20 if you are that desperate for something to read. I don't get into the sick stuff so no analysis of the Pats and Tebow is the people's champion so any writing on him should be free.

Thanks but I think I'll be fine. Please don't write anything about Tebow. More than enough has been and will be written about him.

Fair enough.

I remember the Packers-Falcons playoff game last year, there was a lot of talk that the Falcons wanted to get the Decibel count up to 115.. I don't think that happened.

Nice job, Houston. Odds are stacked against them this week but they could definitely win again.. Another thing to look forward to

I completely agree with you, but like others are saying, it's so much a cover your ass league. At the end of the year the Rams stopped even trying to win. They would run SJax as much as possible, even when well behind. They just wanted to get games over as fast as possible, and not let the score get embarrassing.

It's actually something I really like about Fisher. When he was at TEN, he was an excellent game manager. There was a game where they played Houston and were down by 1 with like a minute left, and no time outs. Houston had the ball at the TEN 20. So he let Houston score on an uncontested run, b/c he knew that was the only way he could win. They still lost, but the idea was sound. There was another game against Indy, where his defense just couldn't stop them. He onside kicked it at least 3 times. They were bad, but were able to hang closer than they should have.

Bad teams beat good teams by employing high risk/high reward strategies. The problem is the retards in the media don't actually understand that, and think Mike Smith is stupid b/c he didn't grab 3 points even though going for it was the right call

I imagine a Yates vs Tebow showdown at Reliant would destroy eardrums

Personally...if we get by Baltimore I would rather go to NE. I am more afraid of the Ravens than the Patriots.

Either way it still feels surreal that we are two games away from the Superbowl. Feels weird man.

Eagles fans, you don't want Spagnuolo.

Your clear choice for DC is none other than Gunther Cunningham. No, we don't mind--he's all yours.

That's pretty much been all the news connected to Spags. Assumptions, speculation and "connecting the dots" with very little in the way of actual information. All unsubstantiated nonsense.

lol Falcons.

Atlanta fans in general are awful sports fans. There was an article about it the other day.

Informal poll that I really don't want to have a discussion about, definitely no lists. Just the top name that comes to your head. I don't even want an explanation.

Best quarterback of all time?

I ask because of a discussion I am having with a friend. He is making wild claims about some strange answers he has heard and I want to see what comes up. Obvious trolls will be obvious.

Homer answer: Elway

NonDenver answer: I don't know if it's based on much outside of feeling but I loved watching Steve Young play.playback
