Would love a megathread on all the classic Marvel fights. I always thought Spiderman has a great combination of skills to beat most outside of the ULTRA POWERED GODS.

to be fair, although illogical, and non canon, wolverine has destroyed the x-men in some capacity.....

I'm not yet caught up with the 616 universe, but what is this about, really? X-Men finally realize Magneto's right or what?

I always loved that Thanos once had a plan that relayed on Spiderman, not Captain Marvel or Adam Warlock who was there at the time. But the Amazing One.

I hope we don't get two major battles and then both sides fight to a stalemate before realizing they have to cooperate to win. Or they fight over a misunderstanding just for the sake of having a VERSUS book.

If Iron Man still has his orbital station cannon he can decimate the X-men from home, while drinking a martini and having a blowjob by a super model.

I'm joking by the way...most guys on both teams have a history of being overpowered, so you can throw a lot of "ifs" in the equation.

I mean Wolverine took down the whole Hydra once...mostly by himself. I wonder why Fury or Cap just didn't phone him earlier. Spider-man took down Firelord while he was a herald of Galactus and wielder of the power cosmic...in a single issue! :-D

Seriously know, it will be interesting to see how Scott Xtinction team will handle itself against those guys. On that picture seems like Wolverine is going for Emma, while Hank is trying to jump on Ororo, I wonder how his teams will react to this.

This is all good and what not, but Nate Grey was once upon a time, by birth/creation, one of the higher-powered/tiered characters in the comics, right up there with Franklin Richards and even Vulcan. Many of the other characters came into possession of items, gifted new powers, etc to become the world-destroyer that they were when they were an overpowered character.

Also, not sure if Bobby is still rocking the talents Emma helped him explore, but dude can bring it to a fight alongside of Magneto.

"industry’s superstar artists: John Romita Jr., Olivier Coipel and Adam Kubert."

Don't know who Coipel is but Romita and Kubert are pedestrian at best, they make Joe Mad looked good and Joe Mad had zero talent and still has zero talent.

Olivier Coipel worked on Thor when Strazinsky brought him back a couple of years ago, he does pretty awesome work.

No. Cyclops is basically becoming Magneto, and Magneto realized Scott did someone he could never do: unite mutants. So now he's an X-man.

I don't follow comics much: what's this? Was it awesome? Is there a trade I can find that I should read? Because I've been waiting for Bobby to realize his potential, and if there's an arc in which he does, I probably want in on it.

Heck, isn't he technically an Omega-level mutant? I'd love to read about him finally tapping into that...

I forgot to update this last week with the AvX VS. announcement. Well, there it is: six issues devoted solely to (mostly one-on-one) fight scenes, with two stories per issue by different creative teams. #1's fights are Iron Man/Magneto (by Jason Aaron and Adam Kubert) and Thing/Namor (Kathryn and Stuart Immonen). Notably, this will be the only tie-in miniseries, with the other tie-ins confined to "core" Avengers and X-Men ongoing titles.

...and while we can safely assume that Avengers, New Avengers, Uncanny X-Men, and Wolverine and the X-Men are all doing tie-ins, it was just announced that there will be a tie-in arc in Secret Avengers. Whether X-Force will also tie in, and whether the two books will cross over during AvX, remains to be seen.

WOW.

Scott said "fuck it" finally. About time. So will the X-Men eventually be bad guys? Also, is this why the old school X-Men are interspersed among The Avengers?

Is this A vs X a black/white good vs. bad series along those lines? Or is this just a fight just because they want to make more money than usual?

Iron Man vs Magneto is such incredible bullshit. I dont care how you write it or if Iron Man gets a wood cannon or whatever, its a giant black hole and theyre just gonna throw some bullshit around to try and pretend that a man with a suit of armor can fight a dude who controls all metal.

I mean, I know that Magneto is a giant storytelling black hole of a character, whose power levels fluctuate to the exact whims of the time but still, it bothers me.

Its an Adi Granov piece and thats his design, so yeah, hes just attached to drawing him that way, regardless of continuity.

'Nother matchup preview, from Newsarama:

Not a fan of this cover at all.

Yeah, I don't understand how they could even try to get a full comic out of it. Magneto would just crush Iron Man's suit with him still inside it like he were an aluminum can.

Who the hell is going to take on Thor though? Colossus-Juggernaut?

Cyclops isn't becoming Magneto. He's just incorporating the few things Magneto was right about while discarding all the evil genocidal stuff that Magneto kept getting involved with. So for instance, mutant homeland? Good idea! Let's use our super powers to build one, instead of holding the world hostage and demanding the UN create one for us.

Scott is still aiming for human/mutant cohabitation, unlike Magneto who always insisted on mutant supremacy. But Scott is more willing to compromise, such as by isolating the mutant population from the humans.

Or at least that's how I understand it. I don't keep up with the comics much.

he could always make another ceramic suit and modify it for mags skill set. im pretty sure someone of tonys intelligence could devise a way to defeat magneto

That's the first thing that came to mind when I was looking at the cover. That match-up should be like 10-0 in Magneto's favor. lol

When I was reading the interview it brought so much join to me for Christos to talk openly about issue 29 a yet to be solicited issue. Let's hope Generation Hope sticks around!

Doom beat Mags once just using his armor and Doom doesn't put nearly as much time into his as Stark does.

Eh, I can live with Gen Hope getting cancelled - it's still enjoyable, but Asmus just isn't as good a writer as Gillen, and it's not even clear how much of a storytelling reason that book will have to exist once AvX kicks off, though that'll depend on how much the Lights are featured in AvX proper and Gillen's UXM tie-in arc.
