Highschool Boys 1

Show of season right here, so funny. Looks like these first couple eps will also contain the bits that were used for the pre-airs, which kind of sucks.

It's too bad the the guys that were doing the ED got fired, the new song they will be using isn't nearly as good.

What did they do to get fired?

Daily Lives of High School Boys

Animated by Sunrise who animated Gintama? Check.
Directed by director of Gintama? Check.
Music is by Audio Highs which composed music for Gintama? Check.
Voiced by Tomokazu Sugita and Kenichi Suzumura who also voice in Gintama? Double check.

Forget Sket Dance cause this is Gintama high school version!

What's with this hype?

Said this:
I have been seeing interviewers from this kind of magazines since I began to work for an anime. (A picture of Horie Yui on the cover of Seiyu Grand Prix magazine was inserted.) All the seiyu have 'seiyu-ish' looking. They look "less than an idol" or kinda cheap if not deteriorated. They are like Universal Studios Japan if an idol corresponds to Tokyo Disneyland. I don't say it's good or bad. It's a matter of taste.
What's with this hype?
But I've been hyping this since it was announced!

You must have missed the cockroaches with moeblob faces.

I think cajunator provoked that with his determination to prove cockroaches can be moe too.

Chihayafuru 14: If you didn't fist pump when

Ohohohohohoho~

you guys need to check out Kobato.
It is pure hnnng.

That's the CLAMP one, yes? I could use some hnnnng right about now. Long story short, no matter how much I bust my ass at work, I'm never moving up.

So yeah, I guess I'll check out Kobato. I need hnnnnnnnng. *checks ANN*. So the titular role is Hnnngazawa Kana eh? So she plays a Kobato here, and also plays a Kobato in BokuTomo. Funny that.

Finally something that'll put some Hnng back into my bloodstream.

Yondemasu yo, Azazel-san 3-4

That was kind of amusing, in places. Highlights were Okada's window dive and Yuu Kobayashi as Undine, basically playing Sarutobi from Gintama again.

But this was cute
It's called the Tampire.

This is kind of cute.

Yes.
Kobato is adorable. She is the most optimistic girl you will ever see. Her sidekick is a total asshole though.

Gintama 241

Heh, Saint Seiya reference.

Liking the new OP. Looks like there's going to be a Shinsengumi arc coming up. Kind of surprised they switched it when they're so close to the manga. Guess if they're gonna go on break again, it will be in the next 15-25 episodes.

PGSM Ep.43

Nothing says fuck you like
frolicking on the beach during a beautiful sunset.

I still don't understand how anyone could accuse Minako of being a scrub. Rei, you so crazy!

Crunchyroll have added "Listen to Me, Girls, I'm Your Father".
Lots of regions. That gives them more than half the new shows this season. Has anyone else announced any simulcasts?

Buy low sell high.

Undercut everyone by 5%.

On Kobato: It's only worth reading for the art. The "story" is awful. Not to mention as slow as turds.

World of Warcraft auction house economics?

Jesus Christ, this show. It's too good. The Queen is an amazing character and a great foil to Chihaya.

One suspects that the story is not why cajun likes Kobato per se...

My PS3 fried its graphic chip yesterday (punishment for daring to play Uncharted 3? who knows). Replacing that has eaten into the funds I'd mentally earmarked for the Escaflowne Blurays next month, even though I don't have a multi-region Bluray player. Bum.

I can content myself with the lesser works of Kawamori in the mean time - while my new PS3 thinks about what it's done I can finally watch Aquarion Evol...

Listen to me Girls, I am your Father! 01: This is pretty awful, and I'm not talking about the premise. At the very least most of the fanservice was concentrated on the pretty model girl with big boobs.

Aquarion 2

I love how the OP plays every time Apollo gattais. Definitely makes it more epic even if there's some reused animation thrown in. Hot blooded feral protagonists are the best.

Which region are you in?

Evidently, I just included it as a warning for anyone else interested.

Art is super hnnngh though, and also :firehawk.

Nisemono 1

I have to watch Nise1 again since I watch each gatari episode at least twice during airing. But was the back-story provided for the situation in the intro? Random kidnapping? Maybe I missed a wall of text since I was tired. As for the rest of the episode, it was mostly back'n'forth with the loli snail. Sister talk was OK to give some background into their trouble-making. Nadeko panic was cute. Not much else to discuss.
Finally, RAGE in glorious animated form.
Looks like shit just like the series.

There is no wall of text to go with the kidnapping but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the surprise Hanekawa has planned for Araragi.

There's no backstory yet; I assume that'll be filled in later.

[Natsume S4 Episode 2]

Well that's certainly a sharp drop off in quality in pretty much every area of the production. Not nearly as bad as Season 3, but still quite far from last weeks outing. Despite my problems with the execution I still enjoyed this episode, however quite a few things bothered me.

My biggest complaint is probably with the editing, which is directly related to my second biggest complaint: the pacing. It seemed to be going okay until the first 'tea scene'. It's like they were trying to build up the tension because, you know, eye patch dude. That doesn't really work when you have no idea how to edit a conversation properly. There wasn't any kind of 'flow' to the dialogue to start with and then things got worse.

As
soon as we started to cut to characters outside the mansion the editing became kind of bad. It felt like we spent quite a long time outside the mansion observing the other youkai 'doing stuff' and talking to each other, only for it to have practically zero effect on the plot (Natsume escaped on his own). All those exterior scenes seemed rather pointless and perfunctory.

I guess that's now only the editors fault, the cinematography was pretty lame as well. Lots of completely flat shots with the characters positioned in extremely boring ways.

The story had a lot of internal problems as well. It's never really established how powerful the exorcist is vs. Natsume. I understand that Natsume can physically attack youkai if he wanted too and Nyanko-sensei is a very powerful spirit. Of course, that doesn't stop him getting instantly captured. Oh wait, now he's free. Oh wait, the exorcist took him down in one shot and Natsume is protecting him. Ah, now they're back in a magically sealed prison. But wait he was just 'holding back his power' (huh?) and he could have escaped any time.

It's like Natsume's, the exorcists and Nyanko's strengths fluctuate depending on how the writer wants a scene to go. If the strengths and weaknesses of the character are not defined in a rigid way then their clash is meaningless because if one of the characters can just go 'ah hah!' at any moment no-one is really in danger. There can't be any tension.

This is ultimately why these 'plot arcs' don't work. especially if we already know everything we need to know about their respective characters.

The ending was kind of bad as well, with the respective youkai turning up to back up Natsume. The whole sequence felt awkward and forces, especially when the giant Mizu was already doing all that needed to be done. Wait, they were riding Mizu earlier so why weren't they already with him?

Also, that wasn't really the ending because they had a few more minutes to kill so they inserted some more generic Natsume family/youkai scenes. Eep.

Anyway, we all know what this episode was really about:

The Japanese Escaflowne set? Psh, I don't think I've ever had a Japanese BD that hasn't played on my Zone B player, and I've got plenty of Bandai published stuff in my collection.

Oooh, really? That's really very good news indeed.

Esca is pretty much the only series I can justify importing the Japanese version of, given that Bandai Entertainment have just collapsed in the West and I doubt any future Western release of the show will restore the deleted scenes present on the Japanese release. Plus, favourite anime of all time blah blah blah.

Thank you and pizzaroll both. Time to stare at the credit card and make a tough decision.

Still finding it hard to get hyped, main reason gintema is so good is cause of the awesome source material and the great characters by mangka Sorachi (imo).

Not hyped but interested enough to check it out later.
