No but i posted some of my saints related anime artwork and it freaked them out lol.
Also i think a few of them asked about my utena tag, researched the show, and ran away screaming.

That's why I don't post much in the sports thread. For all the talk of anime, ponies, etc.

Sports fans are nuts.

EDIT: Die hard sports fans are nuts.

Seeing new love for Cardcaptor Sakura warms my heart. That show really transcends time.

Chihayafuru 11:
Great episode. We got to see everyone the team doing well in their own way. Taichi is pretty impressive with his memory and analytical skills, and I'm really liking Nishida's story as well. Sudo was a pretty good opponent and an interesting guy. Arata's reaction to seeing all his emails was great, too. This show is just so awesome.

My love for CCS is not new, but it has been reaffirmed by watching more of it.
The first time i watched it, it was more background noise as a moe distraction.
Now i am actually paying attention to whats going on.

CCS 19

sakura has homework but her reason for not getting it done might be the best one ever.
And who is this new character?
Came out of nowhere.
CHINESE MOE HNNG

I'm up to like episode 8 or whatever of Chihayafuru. I've realized that I don't like Chihaya. *stirs the pot*

I'd also appreciate input on whether the following series are worth watching/picking-up. I'm trying to slim down my list; like cross shit off.
BLOOD-C (heh)
Deadman Wonderland
Durarara
Flag
Guilty Crown
Gundam Unicorn
Last Exile - The Silver Wing
Madoka Magica (this will be interesting...)
Mirai Nikki
Mystic Archives of Dantalian
Natsume Yujincho
Persona 4
Rainbow
Redline
Shiki
Tatami Galaxy
UN-GO
Wandering Son
Yozakura Quartet

Obligation watches/finishes for future ordering purposes
[Ben-Tou][Black Lagoon OVA][Break Blade][Croisee Labyrinth][Fate/Zero][Fractale][Gosick][Ika 2][Index II][Iroha][Katanagatari][KnT2(maybe...)][Level E][Maria Holic Alive][Mashiroiro Symphony][Penguin Drum][Shana 3][Usagi]

And what's that recent gag manga with the girls that everyone gifs? I can't believe I forgot the name...

That's a start.

Yokho and her bat are so adorable! And now the last two episodes and then maybe Record of Lodoss War or Riding Bean.

New Prince of Tennis 2:
I've been waiting for this since they announced the new anime. I loved this match in the manga, getting to see Momoshiro's determination and getting the proper introduction to Oni. The Black Jack Knife is awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing what the anime does with the matches between the pairs now.

It's the very definition of generic until near the end I think. How many episodes do you have left? Did the show take the crazy route already?

I'll have a watch later tonight.

The gist of the story is this guy who REALLY SUCKS AS A PET OWNER had a bunch of pets that died.
But they were sent back by god (who is naturally a woman) to be his guardian angels and live with him.
Except that they still act somewhat like the animal they used to be and they have hair that resembles it too.
Also, each of them has some sort of phobia related to how they died.
For example, kurumi the hamster got lost and starved to death, so her phobia is starvation, so she eats a lot. Mika the rabbit tries to seduce him as rabbits tend to mate like crazy, and the bird is afraid of heights because she fell to earth during a storm or something.
Theres actually more to it than that and its really cute but sort of generic.

You know, specially for Blu-ray releases like this one, there are people that buy them without knowing the language included to simply extract the data themselves and re-encode it the way they really want it for their personal use, with the inclusion of previously made subtitles formatted from transcripts. This could even be considered a particularly good option for real quality 'transcodes' depending on the source, dedicated software tools and settings used.

Of course for most people that's far more work then they're willing to invest.
Thats way too much work.

See?

List time!
Wolf's Rain has an excellent OP both visually and aurally (once you get over the shock of the opening STRAAAAAAAY)

Thank you for reminding me about STRAAAAAAAAYyyyyyYAAAYYY.

BLOOD-C (heh)
Durarara
Madoka Magica (this will be interesting...)
Persona 4
Shiki
Wandering Son

Trimming the fat is always wonderful when concerning Anime.

My top 3 from those would probably be...

1. Wandering Son
2. Madoka
3. Shiki

Blood-C is worth watching for the unique ride.

If you're a fan of the game then Persona 4 might be enjoyable.

I was also tempted to say Rainbow, but it was a bit too drawn out for my liking. Maybe check out the first episode?

We've been through this already. RnL doesn't have that much fanservice
compared to the Aika animes!

Clearly I've been watching the wrong shows.

I'd also appreciate input on whether the following series are worth watching/picking-up. I'm trying to slim down my list; like cross shit off.

BLOOD-C (heh)
Madoka Magica (this will be interesting...)
Redline
Wandering Son

These should be the bare essentials.

Yeah, going to give Utena a couple days before I finish it after the kick to the nuts last night.

Princess Tutu 7

A wild antagonist appears.
Didn't think Ahiru would ditch being Princess Tutu like she did. Disappointed it wasn't drawn out a bit longer but eh. Also I'm back in the dark about Fakir's motivations.

I adore the show's presentation and wish I had the rest of the evening off so I could just marathon a good chunk.

Yondemasu yo, Azazel-san - End

I did end up warming up to this show, enough to finish it, and there were some genuinely creative and humorous moments. Still, I have to admit I got more enjoyment out of the other Mizushima-directed TV show of 2011.

Well, that's not really a ringing recommendation but at least you enjoyed some of it.

Meilin is awesome. That is all.

That was an enjoyable marathon. Thats all i brought with me to my parents house for the weekend, so no more Sakura until i get back to my house after work tomorrow morning.

[Chihayafuru 14]

Chihaya14.jpg

This week Chihaya fully embraces the 'sport' aspect of the series.

Okay, this show is doing pretty well now. Fourteen episodes in and the show is still consistently good. I know that shouldn't be impressive but in a world of eleven episode productions it's nice to see a show that can maintain it's quality throughout. Unlike say, Hanasaku Irohana.

Anyway, onto the 'plot':
Chihaya vs. the Queen is hardly an unexpected showdown. If you're going to do a sports-type show you have to follow sports type conventions. That's why Chihaya has to face a real rival eventually, someone who can knock her back and actually cause her to lose. Something to shock her, as well as a target to aim for. Unsurprisingly, this episode follows that pattern pretty closely. The Queen is much stronger than Chihaya expects, she's on the ropes for awhile, but she finds her place again. It's a classic formula.

Following the classic formula isn't necessarily a bad thing though. It's survivde so long because, assuming you find the match exciting, it doesn't really matter about the formula being the same as ever. Keeping the tension high is a must and they do a pretty good job of it here. Chihaya is beaten down quite considerably before she can even take a card. I still expect to her lose because, after all, if she's invulnerable then what's the fun in watching her play?

While this episode's direction isn't really as interesting or creative as last weeks that doesn't cause many problems because this episode is a lot simpler.

when the world ends cajun will just be able to hold out for years in his bunker with stacks of sentai shows that no one else bought . . . meanwhile i'll just be another corpse in the wal-mart parking lot.

Sora no Otoshimono is pretty great. Here's why.

[Gintama 78]

A whole episode devoted to a sword fight between two characters, neither of which is the protagonist? Then again, I guess they threw a flashback in there as well, so that was something.
It's just unusual to see such seriousness put into such a small encounter.

?

You're watching a long running shounen. That happens in literally all of them.

The suffering is going to have to take a break for a while. I can't do this for much longer. Trapeze & Hataraki Man next, and THEN Space Thunder Kids.

To be honest, Space Thunder Kids is merely kinda quaint in its terribadness. I found it to be mostly just inane and boring and certainly not something either terribly hilarious or soul crushing. What I watched of it felt mostly like a waste of time.

I guess you can watch it so you can claim you managed to sit through the whole thing, but is that really an achievement?

Even when everyone watched STK in #animegaf together it got pretty boring at times.

I really don't what is to do with, actually, but I'd be surprised if it had nothing to do with a skill set. Then again, I know next to nothing about animation.

Well, animating distant people walking isn't too hard in of itself. And obviously most shows still animate people walking by hand. It's definitely an issue of resources and time; if you look at most older shows, you're not going to see large crows of people moving around, they just use painted stills of crowds.

Recorder to Randsell 2

Bit more focus on the loli high schooler this time. Still, there's really not much to say when the show is 2 minutes. Just a "lol, drink some milk and you'll be tall" joke and some grocery shopping.
