TWGOK Ayumi's internal monologue thing confused me, she realised she acted differently ?

Ayumi was acting all defensive and insecure because she felt guilty. She was acting like Chihiro knew about Ayumi's feelings for Keima, and based on that false assumption she tried to distance herself from Keima and was paranoid around Chihiro. Now she realizes that any irregularities in her relationships were because of her, not anyone else.

TWGOK 173 - Vintage moving should hopefully spice things up. Also, A-YU-MI A-YU-MI.

Kagami no Kuni no Harisugawa 25 - Young Mao is adorable and Saki helping us move the plot forward. Hooray! And I don't even have any sarcasm about that plot moving forward bit.
Yet.

I swear these panties got boys magnets on them

I just checked mangahelpers to see what new manga they are featuring and I noticed their awards shit. Man I really regret clicking on it. I always thought anime fans have the shittiest taste on the internet, but these manga awards were so fucking terrible. No wonder why I rarely read manga forums outside of GAF.

Is there any place that sells Dr. Slump Volume 9? When I went home for Christmas I noticed my younger brother doesn't have that volume and I figured I would get it for him for his birthday but it seems like it's sold out absolutely everywhere. I found one place that said they had it in stock but I got an email four days later stating they were in fact, out of stock. Would be a nice surprise if I could get it for him but I don't want to pay these ridiculous fees for a little book.

Piece vol 6

Hinako Ashihara is so good!
Still not much has been found about this mysterious boyfriend Haruka Origuchi had, though they seem to have found a shaky lead. What I really liked though was seeing the way Remi saw Mizuho. I like Mizuho, but there is naturally a difference between the Mizuho of now and the Mizuho of the recent past (a difference that is amplified by their encounter in this volume, where Mizuho isn't the cool person she was before, she's rather emotional and a bit crazy) and seeing the way she appeared to Remi helps in making her appear a little more real, turns her into a person that could be despised a bit for her cool-y attitude (though she had her reasons and I still like her).
The thing about Remi as a little girl was also both funny and touching.
I feel a little sorry about Taniguchi and his lack of luck with girls.

Is our taste really that much better than other manga forums out there?

That's pretty early on and it stops being like that after Vol 6-7 or so. I'd say SDK's fights aren't as good as they could but but they're more than enough. Perhaps at the same level as Bleach (note, I don't think Bleach fights are particularly good most of the tmie). The author relies too much on a few things to fuel the fights inbetween the techniques.

interesting to hear and i hope they don't do the "i'm instantly behind you, surprised face, slash" stuff Bleach does

Every Wednesday we're the same as every other place.

I would even argue that... well, we may have discussed things in a better manner (but even this point I'm not willing to 100% guarantee yet), but our taste as a whole is not that much better, if any better at all, than other manga threads/forums out there.

Depends on what series you are referring to. There is a whole lot of manga mentioned ITT.

I always wondered why shounen characters bothered running behind their opponents if they can move FASTER THAN THE EYE CAN FOLLOW.

I would just stab them head on.

Bakuman (ch162)

-Now that I've calmed down from off topic over-hype...

New girl crushing on Mashiro fizzles out of the picture immediately. If you weren't going to use it, then don't intro it. And for all of the people ITT asking for Ashirogi to have bromance at a hot spring, you are fulfilled! Who leaves his wife to go sleep with your buddy in his room? About 5 pages totally read yaoi. Though, that would probably be an improvement for Bakuman.

OMG anime incoming. Eiji is a useless set piece confirmed!

I didn't read it that way. The way I saw it is that the girl wanted to get better roles for herself and saw that Mashiro was a chance for it so that's why she behaved that way. This could be some foreshadowing and I wouldn't be surprised that she will end up being in his anime anyway because she flirted with some producer to get that role.

Maybe. I saw her more as being changed into a reason to go into that seiyu/mangka comparison; which did happen. And I wasn't trying to imply that the "crushing" was genuine.

I'm only going to give foreshadowing credit when the idea is resolved. If she comes back as the Miho competition, which I'm not saying is unlikely, then I'd be wrong. But as for the rest of that chapter...lol

Ok so I'm well passed the Skypeia arc in One Piece, but I thought i'd give my summary on this arc anyway.

I loved this arc, its in my top 5 One Piece arcs of all time. To start, I have a naturally affinity to the sky, I like being high places (read high, not dangerous :p) and Skypeia is one of the first OP local's i'd visit if I could. It was pleasant to look at, and the different types of clouds were nice too. I feel like this is when Oda seriously going all out on his backgrounds because they're great. This arc introduced one of my favorite concepts in One Piece, Dials and the waver. The story in this arc was pretty good. I thought it was a wee bit too similar to the alabasta arc at first (groups of people are fighting) but Oda quickly proved me wrong when he slowly introduced the circumstances as to why they were fighting + excellent use of flashbacks. The arc pens up pretty slowly, but it shifts into high gear when the trials start. The 4 trial priests were alright, but my god Enel is fantastic. He ranks in my all time favorite characters in One Piece. His powers are incredible, I forgot how powerful and badass the goro-goro fruit was. Luffy vs Enel was my favorite part of this arc, simply because its rare to see the main character have such an obvious advantage (Its usually the otherway around!) and seeing him use his Thunder powers to cripple Luffy was pretty interesting too. The Golden Gomu Gomu pistol was really nice too.

This panel alone had me in tears:

Nisekoi (ch 9)

-20 adorable faces of Chitoge.

Don't worry Onodera, we at the Chitoge brigade still like you. Vulnerable Chitoge leads to romantic feelings and Raku is still stupid about Onodera. I vote best yakuza buddies for Raku with their setups.

But they were looking her up again in this chapter...how is that fizzling out of the picture? If anything she'll be a rival for Mashiro's GF or something to bring in more insight into the seiyuu side of things

*Eneru Oh Crap*

Top notch arc, one of my favorites of all time.

Wow, a lot of people come out of the arc really hating it but then re-reading it again years later and seeing it's really awesome. Good on you.
I imagine a similar situation will happen with Fishmen Island. People will look back on it years later with the entire arc complete and realize it's not so bad.

Once I think about it I do prefer Skypeia over Alabasta. Alabasta dragged on for too long and is severely overrated as an arc. Aside from it having cooler fights, Skypeia does everything Alabasta does but better. Better story, better villain, and better climax though they both have their pros and cons to even out to be merely debatable. This is my thoughts on my rewatch of both arcs a couple of weeks ago when I watched Funi dub OP with some friends of mine, so I'm not sure if the manga makes it any different or not.

I think Fishman Island has been pretty good overall. It drags but I enjoy it more than several other arcs in the series like Thriller Bark or Arlong Park for example. I guess I'm in the small crowd on this but I don't think a message about racism is really that preachy (I mean really, how can you go wrong?) and I highly enjoy the Fisher Tiger backstory and expanded Fishmen lore it introduced to the series.

Skypiea really is awesome. I love the characters (especially Wiper and Aisa), and Enel was a great villain. I think the whole survival game element was really interesting, and the Norland/Calgara flashback is just awesome. There's no way you can't cry manly tears when they cut down Giant Jack and again when Luffy rings that bell.

pft, Arlong Park shits all over Fishman Island

That's speculation. Her character dropped without a word of attachment to the narrative. If she is re-used, then so be it. But right now she is being stored as a rabbit in the hat which is what I would call fizzling out of the picture. And storing characters is one of the dumbest things in manga. Maybe the next chapter of Bakuman should address this with the next ranking crisis.

Skypeia is one my fav arcs , I was shocked to find there exist gaffers who didn't like it,The only complaint i heard about it was "wtf there bounties didn't even go up" then later to hear the same crap about thriller Bark.

I completely disagree. The backstory? Great. The fights? Fun. The structure of the entire arc? Not so much.

I was never a huge fan of the tournament style fighting it had near the middle, which kind of dragged. I prefer the Alabasta structure where everyone is kind of fighting at the same time while in Arlong Park Sanji and Zoro were just taking turns fighting like they were participating in a tournament.

I also like Hody's gang more than Arlong pirates (except for the main man himself and Hatchi). They definitely have more creative designs and I would've rather seen them than Chu or that other guy

I also really love the Fisher Tiger story, but for different reasons why Nami's backstory is good. I also like a lot of shades of grey introduced related to the fishman (except for Hody and crew who is truly scum) and kind of explain how someone like Arlong could be born.

Skypie is one my fav arcs, I was shocked to find there exist gaffers who didn't like it,The only complaint i heard about it was "wtf there bounties didn't even go up" then later to hear the same crap about thriller Bark.

I think you mean "lol it's just a filler arc, nothing happened"

Like Laboon, Skypiea's importance became known as the story progressed.
It introduced Observation Haki (albeit under a different name), it revealed Roger had abilities that allowed him to hear the voice of all things, it revealed the existence of other Weapons like Pluton and Poseidon, and hell it introduced an entire world in the sky. As we've learned Skypiea isn't the only island in the sky.

"It gets better" is often my philosophy with One Piece, along with "just wait and see".

Kami no Shizuku 29

The classiest mangas always take the longest to be translated, such is life. It's been like 7 or 8 months. Anyway, chapter was great as usual. Shizuku's still a druggie, and Miyabi is still my waifu. I'd get excited about what's coming up, but I've learnt better at this point.

Etoile vol 1

I've never seen such a womanizer (and perverted) D'Artagnan, but it was interesting, and funny.
My only knowledge about the 3 musketeers story is from the anime show (which is the same way the author learned about it as well) and the movies, but I'm pretty sure they didn't have magical stones linked to the constellations that would give special powers to the sword of the musketeers.
Reading the author notes at the end, makes me feel sorry for him, as this story got cancelled with the closure of Monthly Shonen Jump.

Skypiea and i have great memories together. That reveal of lightning vs. Rubber, which I should have called but somehow never made the connection when first reading, was mind blowing to the fifteen year old me.

Admittedly l I haven't read it since then ... So that probably goes a long way with the overly fond remembrance.

I liked everything about Skypeia but the fights. They just weren't that interesting to me. Montblanc Norland's story is the best flashback in OP, so I guess it balances out.

Is Skypeia considered "Filler" by some because it has no new crew member and no bounty change or something?

I'm a bit confused what exactly constitutes as uhh "canonical filler" when it comes to OP.

I wonder what my top 5 arcs are ... it's hard to say because some arcs weren't super amazing but had 2-3 amazing moments, whilst others were decent from start to finish.

I've defended Skypeia before and I'll do it again: the arc is completely underrated and really fun. The only thing I didn't like about the arc were the trial fights. They dragged and weren't that compelling. Everything before and after was solid. The royal rumble and Enel's challenge was great.

Then again I just love pure adventure/exploration and that aspect of One Piece was what drew me to the manga initially. I also liked it as it helped acclimate Robin to the crew, making the next arc that much more emotional (same with Going Merry when you think about it as well....)

I just passed Ace's introduction on the re-watch/read of One Piece with my sister. Man, this shit has been so fun so far.

What sucks is that my sister knows that Ace dies and a few of the circumstances surrounding it. That kind of spoiler destroys the backbone of the character building, unfortunately. Still, we're in the middle of Alabasta, and I know that was always one of my favorite arcs so I know it'll be even better the second time around. Oh, another thing that sucks spoiler-wise is that my sister knows who Robin is (but nothing about her character, fortunately) so as soon as "Ms All Sunday" came on the screen for the first time she was like "wtf are you doing Robin. You fool no one" :lol

I wasn't too huge of a fan of Skypiea, but I feel that the second time around it'll be better.
