Man I can't stand these type of chapters. I love teh way Hunter does explanation heavy chapters, everyone else should take inspiration from Togashi.

Vinland Saga Vol. 1

BocYg.jpg

That was pretty fantastic. I've read the first two chapters before, but experiencing them years later is a refreshing and nostalgic experience. My first impression of Vinland Saga years ago was, "This shit is manly." you know like any other manly manga, seeing a fucking BOAT being carried by men just so they can be put into a lake or some shit was pretty unexpected and awesome.

The story and characters are top notch. I never really got to the more emotional parts, so reading it in full was like a new experience to me. The expressive art brings a lot of depth and character to what is otherwise a fairly straight forward and simple story. Makoto Yukimura is fantastic at telling a story with comic panels, which a lot of manga artists forget to do.

Some of the art was iffy drawn, however. And I'm not a big fan of the more animu shit in this series. Feels very clashing with the setting and theme.

Manga artist Yuusuke Murata (Eyeshield 21) posted on his Twitter account on Saturday that he is planning a new manga series with web manga creator ONE (Onepunchman). The new series will be a magical girl series, and it will involve magical hydraulic cylinder weapons. Murata added that more information about when and where the manga will be serialized will be revealed later.

Wasn't the dude drawing some fantasy settings manga before? Or was it just some random one shot?

TWGOK (ch 173)

-Going after best friends is a gutsy move.

I got a kick out of Keima trying to pour water on Ayumi. Keima is also pointing out the obvious that you don't mess with best friends. Especially, when we are talking about one after another. IRL that's how you end up on the news. Mercury is trying to get Ayumi to realize her feelings and Chihiro is moping about. Bandage girl is now going to stir shit up with that attack wave.

What bothers me is how these girls keep the goddess possessions hidden from everyone. It seems nearly impossible that they wouldn't run their mouths to someone. And they adapt so quickly. Maybe it is part of the goddess influence?

Ch in 3 (two-timing, goddess, planning)

Someone give me a manga to read that isn't some Boku no Pico shit or some dumb shonen. I've been so out of the loop I just need a solid series of recommendations. Wolf Guy is life draining

Ghost in the Shell
Sanctuary
Lone Wolf and Cub/Samurai Executioner
Solanin
REAL
Tetsuwan Girl

Manga with active translations scene: 5/15
Manga with inactive transaltions scene: 1/15
Manga with no translations at all: 7/15
Manga that I can't find on the MU database: 2/15

I really need to start learning Japanese

alternatively, the translation scene needs to stop fappin' around with stupid stuff. i know this is a bit selfish, but those that can read jp would be the ones to find and curate the good stuff for the rest. ya, people enjoy looking at trainwrecks, but a diet composed largely of junk isn't healthy for the consumer and the medium as a whole

ManGAF, how good is the BLAME! anime, compared to the manga? Any differences? Does it cover the whole manga?

Aren't they like 6 minutes episodes? MAL says this about it

"PS: These clips are meant as a bonus to the Manga, and should only be taken as such. Do NOT expect any plot in these. They are merely animated (short) scenes from the Manga."

Ohhhh ... That's a shame. I'd love to see the art style in an anime.

Murata hyyyyyyyyyype. Steam punk magical girl is reminiscent of Valkyria Chronicles.

BLAME! 1-20

I can't count the many times my eyes came. This is some really good stuff and sometimes it's really so disturbing, it's almost uncomfortable to look at. I'm not sure if I want this manga to end.

E: I have to say, I still feel like I know shit about Killy and the world, but for some reason it doesn't bother me that much. The art must've blinded my critical eye.

Vinland Saga Vol. 7

Wow this is some good shit right here. I love the dynamic between all the characters in this, feels very grounded in reality. The end of this volume wasn't very good and I'm kind of pissed that they didn't show what happened. I also don't like how major characters are abandoned (would love to see what happened to his sister).

Aside from this, fantastic experience. The priest's message that changed the prince was really emotional and harkens back to Makoto Yukimura's other manga Planetes.

However now it seems to be like this...

Well I still haven't read all of it yet, I hope it returns back to the format that made the series great in the first place. I really want to see what happened to the prince and why Thorfinn became a slave.

Vinland Saga (finished)

Wow well, while the second part is underwhelming a bit, it seems the series is returning to form. I can't wait till all the characters are reunited in battle when Canute invades the farm. Arneis being that dude's wife is also a major shock and surprise. While the "Farmland" chapters have been slow I am expecting great things fromt his.

Now to move onto something else, hrm...

Toriko vol 12

So yeah, finally started the manga because I couldn't wait for the anime any more. I really do love how it's shaping up to be an absolutely massive world rivaling that of One Piece. Though that's expected since it seems the Gourmet World is identical in concept to the Grandline. Hope they get there soon.

It was a gag one-shot of 19 pages. The color pages were so good but alas.

I'm down for this one though, this is probably the one he tweeted about a while back.

advice needed:

what's a good comic/manga reader for teh mac os?
I'm using Sequential

Beelzebub

Finally caught up with this. God what an underwhelming end to an overhyped arc. YO LET'S TRAIN EVERYONE SO THEY CAN DO NOTHING. When will Beelzebub find the balance between being a gag manga and a fighting manga that it once had in the past? Waaaay too rushed for the long ass training arcs we've been getting. Probably the worst arc yet, easily.

With that being said, memory loss Hilda is hilarious.

Looking for a manga in similar vein to Mangaka-san to Assistant-san. Really enjoyed this one: light-hearted slice of life comedy filled with lots and lots of likable personalities.

Noblesse 219

This is getting really interesting. But i can´t help but feel that these villains have been over hyped. I really hope that M21 could get into his werewolf form by himself by the end of this arc.

Manga Taisho awards, 15 titles nominated.

I hope I Am A Hero wins. Wish I'd read some more of the selections, though. I also wish March Lion would get faster translations. >.>

Yeah of the ones I've read I am a Hero is by far the best. Interesting to see Getenrou on there. It's totally awesome, but not really the type of thing I would expect to be nominated for anything. I guess nobody can resist porn and power rangers mysteries.

Haha I have a lot of catching up to do.

I've read Vinland Saga and Yotsuba, but never finished them. Starting with Vinland Saga. Keep the suggestions coming.

Vagabond
Sanctuary
Solanin

I really should start reading Vagabond.

Freezing 64

Elizabeth is so damn awesome. Putting her life and family to expose the Chevalier is so impressive. I totally misjudged her.

Gamaran

Now that I think about it Kashitarou would be THE fit-in for this dude, being all human-structure and everything. He could probably fix up Zen's limbs too in a second.

Well I didn't really like that one so it's kind of hard to recommend something, but based on what you liked about it maybe Hayte the Combat Butler or Bamboo Blade.
I'll +1 any Hayate namedrop regardless of context

Hideout 9 END

Wow, I did not expect this ending. The guy totally went insane at the end. Pretty cool to see that the mangaka is a fan of Stephen King.

Highly recommend this horror manga. It's only one volume long so you won't spend years reading and the god damn tension is amazing. Plus it has superb art, especially those eyes.
