If they don't get Nanako
a lamp for a gift
I will be severely disappointed. Kids love
lamps.

Yosuke isn't jelly about Broswag hogging the girls, he's jelly that he can't be where Yukiko is.

The ultimate twist of Arjuna is that
CHRIS IS A FUCKING ASSHOLE
Twist of a twist:
Chris is everyone. Everyone is Chris. Itadakimasu!

All you guys who just finished School Days and Arjuna need to watch Glass Fleet, the Epic Space Opera of our time from Gonzo. But don't let me sell you on it, let these gifs:

This is but a taste of the epic scenes that await you. And it's free streaming on Hulu and Funimation's website, so you have no excuse.

It's been on my list for a while now... would the dub or sub be the best way to experience the "brilliance" of Glass Fleet?

Thermae Romae 1 - This series is indeed fantastic, like the manga. It's really too bad that it's only going to be six half-length episodes, it deserves much more...

The series has two main focuses. One is teaching the viewer about Ancient Rome, and their bathing in particular. The other is about how awesome Japan's bathing culture is. Both get a significant focus in the show. The second's a bit overdone at times, but it is true that an ancient person would find the modern world pretty amazing, certainly. But still, yeah, this is really good, definitely a must watch.

... I don't remember stuff like that
guy with a robot head
in the manga though... :lol

Maria Holic 2-3 - :lol, yeah, this show is pretty funny stuff... I'll definitely be continuing with this! Also, and I don't know if I thought of this with ep. 1, but the visuals remind me strongly of Bakemonogatari's style at times (in the intro particularly, and occasionally in the show), and indeed it's by the same studio, so that makes sense... It breaks the fourth wall a couple of times here too. Usually I don't like that, but it was kind of amusing here.

Poor MC though, all she wanted was her yuri paradise and she got roped in with this guy. :lol

Brave 10 1 - Okay show about a bunch of bishie warriors and the girl travelling with them in Sengoku-era fantasy Japan. ... Yukimura Sanada's one of the main characters though (the "brave 10" are the heroes he is gathering, specifically)? I can't help but think of the Yukimura from Samurai Girls... :p

Apart form that though, this was decent but not great. Pretty cliche stuff through and through, from the quite tsun main guy (he should just say "I totally don't want to go with you at all!" and get it over with... :) ) to the somewhat childishly useless female lead. She has a special power of course, but knows nothing of it. She's also got a tragic recent past, etc.

Also, the MC girl's costume is quite thoroughly historically inaccurate, from the hotpants to the skirt. Oh well...

I also rewatched several of the Slayers movies recently, most notably Slayers Great (and also Slayers Gorgeous a bit ago). The movies and OVAs are all entirely free of any serious plots, but some of them are funny. Gorgeous is good, but Great is just average for a Slayers movie. Oh, sure, it's entertaining, Slayers nearly always is (I love the franchise...) but predictable, and there is better. Still, certainly funny enough to watch. The somewhat ridiculous battle between Lina and Naga's giant golems was good stuff. :)

I will say, though... seriously, Lina's got absolutely no conscience at all. How many people died when she fired off that Dragon Slave right in the middle of the lake next to the town? I mean, like a third of both fortresses was blown apart, the lake -- which earlier had been full of boats -- blown apart, etc... I know that in Slayers it never, ever yshows anyone actually getting killed when Lina uses Dragon Slaves in populated areas -- instead, even people just yards away somehow miraculously survive, as happens here with the people in the grandstand -- but seriously, when you see the scale of the destruction when the camera pans out that idea is pretty ludicrous. But either way, Lina, she doesn't care at all and just runs off. And yet in other episodes, in the main TV serieses, she gets quite angry at enemies trying to destroy cities and such. What, she thinks that only she should be allowed to do that or something? :P (And yes, this is indeed why Slayers Revolution's joke that
that inspector guy's main charge, after he arrested Lina, was "being Lina Inverse", and that none of her friends could contest the validity of the charge either, was so funny -- it's so true... :p
)

... That is indeed both awesome and horrible.

That is my favorite anime of all time.
Such a wonderful show in every single possible way.

It's second to Lain on my list, but otherwise yeah, anime doesn't really get better than Haibane Renmei.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's 1-7
Just what this show needed

What, being even more amazing than the first season?

Earth Maiden Arjuna 13 END

5UHP9.jpg

See this dude? Yeah, that smug douchebag. Thanks to this fucking piece of shit over 120 million people had to starve and suffer. All of this shit could have been avoided if he just explained to people what the hell was wrong and what was going on in a calm and collected manner instead of the whimsically metaphorical shit he liked to spout to others. Clearly his hatred of words is thanks to his complete and utterly attrocious people skills.

Also fighting the visualisation of earths suffering with fancy rave glow-sticks.
Yeah, Chris really is the worst. He's such a ridiculously horrible person across the board that it's just absurd...
he thinks nothing of causing the deaths of millions because he is secretly doing some not-so-nice things (all because he's so kind or something of course), and hates words so he thinks that unless people can read his mind he won't tell them anything... it's pretty ridiculous. It'd be hard for him to be a more unlikable, horrible character, I think. I mean, it's probably possible, somehow, but he tries hard to make imagining such things difficult.

The ultimate twist of Arjuna is that
CHRIS IS A FUCKING ASSHOLE

Indeed absolutely true.

Twist of a twist:
Chris is everyone. Everyone is Chris. Itadakimasu!

Well I don't think the sub is available for streaming. The dub is quite good though.

I've never posted in the anime thread before, but I figured this was the right place.

I just finished the first season and the OAVs of Darker than Black, and I'm surprised I'd never heard of it before I saw it on Funi's website, because it's one of the better shows I've seen in a while.
The 2-part episode format was a double edged sword in that it did a really good job of developing side characters
before killing them off, sending them away, making them disappear into thin air, or revealing they were already dead.
But Hei is a boss so it's all good.

It's not an instant classic or anything, but I'd definitely put it in the "pretty damn good" category. And it manages to remind me of better shows like Bebop or GITS:SAC without being a crappy ripoff.

Now it's time to watch the second season and hope it's not crap.
I'm prepared for the worst

Did you wonder just what the fuck happened near the end of the OAVs? Now take that ending and stretch it out for an entire season while tossing in drunk chinese men and naked lolis. That's what the supposedly mythical season two is.

Glass Fleet 1

Why is this guy's hat so fabulous?
Why does a space faring civilization have no long range weapon capability?
did i see a horse drawn cart traversing the hull of a starship???

the people the people the people

Back in the day I used to catch shows in the middle of their run on adult swim. It would always be the middle of the series long after characters were introduced and established so I'd wouldn't really know who the characters were. I wouldn't know why things were happening but things happened. This episode felt just like that.

SOMEBODY STOP HIM BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.

Thanks thread for reminding me of another one I've been meaning to watch in Darker Than Black. I'm kinda craving some action anime, preferably things with great fight choreography or gunplay, any suggestions? It doesn't have to be recent.

Meanwhile, I'm all caught up on Nisemono and wow, they went full retard with all the smuttiness didn't they?
Kanbaru assaulting Koyomi and the latter pulling a Mayoi
was well played though.

Back to back badasses right there.

Kind of weird to see an aftermath episode turn into a festival episode. Not exactly what I want out of the former. Oh well.

The way the Void power has changed seems pretty cool.
It looks like it might be an auto-activating system based on a user's high emotional state, or perhaps a specific kind of emotion.
Either way, Ayase's Void is pretty cool provided she isn't using it all the time. Still gotta have that wheelchair moe.

I really like the new OP. Shoe looks badass with the scarf and for some reason, angry as hell. Maybe asking for him to pull a Simon is too much, but the OP gives me enough hope that he can at least get out of the wimpy phase. Dude is already donning a better expression when using the Inori sword. I also like how Shu and Inori are being compared to Gai and Mana, sort of a "carrying on the next generation" message (even if the latter kind of suck). ED is cool too.

The funny thing about physics is it only exists if you believe it does.

In anime anyway.

From School Days to Glass Fleet. Animugaf is on a roll.

The Knight in the Area 03: This show is preeeeetty awful at handling drama; hopefully we get some football antics soon. The animation downgrade and horrible soundtrack didn't help either!

So to make up for that lameness we have some Seven instead!
hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngh

He gets a scarf and a trenchcoat. If all that swag can't save a man's spine, nothing can.

Only shows up for those dedicated to perversion.

case-by-case, really--it's like, there's an interview, and they have a puppet where you point out just what tickles your fancy, then they send you off with all the Usagi Drop manga volumes to study.
