Ah, so this is what happens when you combine a mecha show, a magical girl show, and idols. And Aerosmith fighting evil with music or someshit like that. I'm impressed by how bloody the show is too. The entire stadium opening sequence was so reminiscent of Final Fantasy X's famous Blitzball stadium opening sequence I half-expected to see Square-Enix credited during the staff roll at the end. Well, somebody's put a considerable budget into this show at any rate. The sheer cacophony of Noise and color and loud J-Pop and huge action set-pieces should hold my attention for awhile. I wonder if this is going to go anywhere awesome or not though.

Nisemonogatari ep 3
Finally,it's back to the plot after a nothing in ep 2. I laugh at the sixth female individual, totally unexpected.

Macross 7 01

War may happening, but we NEED TO ROCK AND ROOOOOLLLLLL! Enemies, LISTEN TO MY SONG! COOOME BAAACK!

Macross 7 02

Someone sounded the alarm! My burning passion of singing must go to fight with my SONG!

Macross 7 03

Hey band gangs, don't fight. DO YOU REMEMBER THIS?!?! LET'S GO TSUKINUKE YOU ZE... I AM SO COOL BECAUSE I AM BASARA AND MUSIC IS MY SOUL!
Mylene you bitch! I didn't want to use my fists, and onyl fight them with my SONG! I'm having trouble figuring out if Basara is an ignorant asshole, or if his song will actually do something. I'm almost on the floor laughing at every fight scene.
Gamlin:"GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE CIVILIAN YOU FUCK"
Basara: *smiles* LET'S GO TSUKINUKE YOU ZE
Also, the flower girl is my waifu.

Macross 7 04

Vampires have invaded! Also, my name is Basara, and my biceps are awesome enough to deflect your beams!
LET'S GO TSUKINUKE YOU ZE

Macross 7 05

Biker gangs, Basara riding bikes like a badass, firing missiles, sharing his song, and getting tongued by a biker chick.
Also I can't believe Mylene's age.

Macross7 06

The mystery builds up. Seems like the real conflict is about to start. Also, poor flower girl ;_;

It's too late for you. It's a slippery slope. One day you admit it's well-animated, the next day you're spooning a Mugi pillow as you go to sleep.

You can't even make coy implications correctly, I made it clear already that I'd only go for a Mio pillow in theory!

It's too late for you. It's a slippery slope. One day you say that you'd only go for a Mio pillow . The next day you're overpaying for a Mugi pillow online.

Mononoke 1:
Well, that was certainly not quite what I expected. It was very good, though. The art design is out of this world, and this has some of the best usage of sound I can think of in recent memory. The episode managed to create some nice horror and atmosphere, and I'm really interested to see where this show heads based on the end. There was some great dialogue between the characters, too, particularly in the scene where they're climbing the stairs. I'll definitely keep watching this.

The keionbu have gone mainstream, so it's not considered niche at all! Azunyan merch for everybody!

Attacks get better and awesomer.

I love how the attacks are all prefaced with a pause in the action where the audience is informed by an on-screen readout of what the attack's name is. Clearly this occurs so that they don't have to stop singing to shout out the name of their attacks. I'm not sure if this is genius or not just yet.

Senki Zessho Symphogear 2:

A brief pause to introduce a few concepts before they get back to fighting things. The quality of animation has mostly not let up in the second episode, there were a couple of static action shots during the first fight but for the most part they are trying pretty hard to animate everything they can. Everyone apparently casually uses concepts from Evangelion now no matter what the show is about. Satelight is working on two shows this season, and between this show and Not-Very-Bodacious Space Not-Pirates, I'm enjoying this one considerably more if for no reason that something is actually happening, and it's always set to J-Pop music composed by Elements Garden.

I'm happy with my teacup! I'm not sure if those are for sale anymore, though. I don't think jman would want any Azunyan merchandise anyways.

Make sure you also watch the Bakeneko arc from Ayakashi (episodes 9-11). It provides a better introduction to the Medicine Seller, introduces a character who will return in episode 3 of Mononoke, and executes the concept behind the show as well as it ever will be.

Three, actually. There's Aquarion Evol too.

heh interesting, back when it came out the unanimous reaction to the ending was WHAT? FUCK YOU SHOW. I guess when you know there's a sequel and it's out right now it isnt the kick in the balls it was back then
I remembe thatr the reaction back when it aired was closer to people (the few that actually watched the entire thing) really loving the ending actually

Sket Dance 4:
Roman appears. <3 The episode had some awesome comedic moments and references, and I thought it was pretty smart of them to combine these two stories together. They worked well as two parts of an overall episode in my view. I'm really impressed with how easily this series has shifted formats.

Senki Zessho Symphogear 3:

Well, okay. This time I saw some notable instances of bizarre animation. The conversation that Tsubasa and her "manager" while they walked down the hall stood out as an instance of really bad animation. They are certainly using every cent of budget they've been given at any rate, as fighting is generally always well-animated. I'm still not sure what this show is about necessarily, but maybe now that a boss enemy has appeared at the end of this episode they might be about to tell us really soon. Maybe. Well, I'm assuming that the staff of this show know what it's going to be about, since at the moment it's an excuse to set sequences of animated fighting to J-pop music.

Macross 7 08

Honey is kind of a jerk, Basara is just unwilling to cooperate, but overall, it seems like things may start to go up once they release their songs.

Haha yeah after seeing your post on ep 2, I was waiting for this. That walking scene was some of the most hilarious animation I've seen in a while, so ugly. At least the fight animation didn't take a dump.

A drinking game based on SHAFT head tilts is like a drinking game based on male gaze shots in all other anime. It's a good way to get yourself killed.

Thermae Romae 2 - This is just a fantastic series, and yes, it's a very good adaptation of the manga. I hope this somehow gets more than six episodes. :) I like how the MC, Lucius I think it is, feels bad about taking these ideas and then passing them off as his own, but he just can't resist... of course though, it's not like many people would believe him if he told the truth.

In this episode, the main character has to construct an outdoor hotspring bath, not something normal in Rome, so naturally he falls into another time warp and gets inspiration from a Japanese outdoor bath. (Hot spring eggs, huh? Would cooking it in the spring really change the taste?)

I didn't watch Milky Holmes so i'm trying to pretend that having a kugiloli makes everything better.

Seriously though, should I watch Milky Holmes?
It depends on what you find funny, really... comedy's definitely something where everyone's going to see it differently, everyone's sense of humor is different. I think it's quite funny though, as do some others; maybe give it a try and see if you like it.

I was about to question your sanity until I realized that you were talking about shit Aria.

Certainly was, yes.

Cumberbatch should just voice loli-Sherlock. Best Sherlock ever.
Who?

sora no woto is completely different from last exile.
Yeah.

Structurally, certainly on paper, they're the same. Tonally and thematically, they're fairly similar as well.

I can't think of anything at all the two series have in common apart from both being post-apocalyptic serieses with female leads, but apart from that they're very different.

You don't think it's like SnW? Basically girls trying to live in this post-apocalyptic world and do their own thing. Learning music and trying to stop a war in one, flying vanships and trying to stop a war in the other. It's just SnW stayed with the girls who and didn't bother with the politics of Rome or wherever.

Although, I suppose if they cut all that stuff, the show would be much shorter than it is.
No, they're quite different entirely... yeah, as you say (and I agreed above) they are both post-apocalyptic shows with female lead casts, but they're so different in every other respect -- genre, action, style, theme, art, setting, etc -- that no, I really don't think they're very similar. Last Exile Fam is at its core a flight and feet combat action series, really, with constant tension and fighting; SnW is mono no aware drama / group of girls comedy where most of the fighting is in flashback. And yeah both lead characters are eager optimists, but have pretty different characters and skillsets.

I think you're overdoing the similarity a bit.

Yeah, Mononoke's a pretty good show, with unique art design and creepy, interesting story and atmosphere.

You can't mass produce songs from the soul.

And Mylene is the ultimate jailbait. Her mom has no issues with entrapment either.

Huh, so this show is a horror? Okay, I'm paying attention now. Wikipedia says it's a spinoff of a previous show, Ayakishi: Samurai Horror Tales. I wonder if I should watch that one first.

Oh man I know. At first I was all "Yeah!", and then I found out her age and felt kinda weird. I'm in a grey area as far as how to feel. As for soul songs, I'm hoping Basara does something cool. He definitely seems like he's super capable of tearing shit up, but I really want to see it. When he rode
the motorbike, he was such a badass, stunt riding like that.
