The PlayStation Vita In 2011-2012

Second time that I have basically rage quit out of the last championship match in arcade mode of Power Smash 4 (VT 4) ... Brian Becker, oh how I hate you now :P

I had no problem clearing Doubles but this singles is giving me trouble (Normal difficulty). There is a big difficulty spike between the last match and all others, basically all the evil tricks I did to the first 4 opponents he starts doing to me. Well, it's an awesome game, kind of cool that it is effectively like a 'final boss' type moment.

eh? so unless you find all the collectables in one playthrough you can't complete them? surely not
No, you just have to start the game through "chapters", like Keys suggested, not go through the "New Game".
what happens when you back up your vita to PC via mediago? I'd want a back up of my saves in case of memory card failure..
But the media go doesn't work with Vita? (correct me if I'm wrong) You can back up your system using the content manager though. Don't know about the saves.

Had to reset WipEout piloting to normal assist. I wasn't getting anywhere with it all turned off :(
Things start getting pretty rough in 2049. I dread to think what 2050 season is gonna be like.

That battle event where all you can get is cannon, mine & bomb... Still haven't had a single bomb but I kept hitting them somehow.

Haha yeah that one really pissed me off. If I remember correctly, you're restricted to using a ship that doesn't support bombs, so that's why you aren't getting them. Just cannon away. You'll get lucky eventually.

Actually that ship is pretty fast, so mining the hell out of enemies seems like a better option if you're able to stay before them. Sadly, that means taking a lot of bullets in the ass.

Is there a full/in-depth Vita OS feature list anywhere?

I'm not talking about "Here is the Live Area section" type of things but, technical breakdowns on what it's capable of doing on the current firmware.

I wanted to give Mark Wilson a break this week so that I could talk about the robust online features in ModNation Racers: Road Trip. The team here in San Diego created an impressive list of online functionality to take advantage of the WiFi/3G and GPS functionality

5. Ad-Hoc Play: It’s ModNation Party Time!
For those racers looking for that head-to-head experience with your friends, Ad-Hoc play is where it’s at. Up to four gamers can race simultaneously on any San Diego Studio track or choose from over 500,000 user created tracks from the ModNation Racers community. That ought to keep you busy for a millennium or so.

Is it me, or is there an elephant in the room... ?

Keep this ad-hoc-only shit away from Vita.

Bootcamp for one program is crazy, you'd just use a Windows emulator really, Parallels or VMWare, still, it's crazy it's not native.

So Game.co.uk have a bundle up to get the WiFi model with Uncharted and a 4GB card for £269 was thinking about going with that, do you reckon a 4GB card will be enough to go with for now?

I don't race at all in Combat games, so I literally never use mines or bombs lol. I always stay behind, in the event of a Quake pickup (although you can't get it in the event in question).

But yeah, it was a pain in the ass so I'm sure your method is better lol.

Depends if you want to go crazy on the PSN versions of the games. If not and you don't have a huge PSP games library to play on your Vita, you should be ok.

I understand wanting have have new and different online features but why not have head-to-head online as well?

I guess they didn't have enough time?

OK, the hidden events in WipEout seem like they only open if you play online first.
You get a notice saying it's now available, but still hidden.
These are the prototype races, and the one I just tried was TEN LAPS LONG :O
7/7, of course.

I've elited everything until around 70% of 2049 and that prototype race was the hardest thing in the game so far. So unfair. Especially since they don't tell you the "superpower" which the prototype you race in has until you get it (I'm stupid and I didn't notice it):
Your max speed increases when you hit speed pads and stays that way until the end of the lap/taking serious damage.
Hope this helps.

It depends. If you want to buy games online or small PSN titles you might want 8 GB mem card. If you want to buy some PSP games to play on the VITA you want to get the 16-32 GB. It all depends on how you want to buy games. My advice to you is to get the 8 GB mem card. It´s not much more expensive than 4 GB, and in case you want to buy PSN games like Sound Shape and Escape plan, you could use the extra storage.

This might be a weird question, but will any of the DLC for Wipeout Pure work with the Vita?
I wanted to download both Wipeout Pure and Pulse, but was curious if the DLC would even work anymore.

Wipeout HD tracks are already included and can be played online, DLC from PS3 is not compatible as those are two different games.
Edit:
Uh, nevermind, I forgot that Pure and Pulse are the PSP games.

Any word on a content management solution for Macs? Would be nice seeing how it's 20-fucking-12 and all, Sony.

the weird thing is that a sony video for vita (i think it was the one in the latest qore) states how you can manage it with your pc or mac. it doesn't mention that the mac one isn't going to be available at the start. maybe we will be getting it at or around launch?

those all seem like really rad features, but the lack of real competitive online kills it. i was so stoked for this one too :( i already played the single player campaign on ps3 so the game becomes pointless for me.

They are nice features, for a game that already has online multiplayer. But this game doesn't, making those extra features useless incentives.

Wow horrible that Modnation has even worse online than MK7. Oh well nobody was going to buy modnation anyway without Sony ensuring that even more.

agh i didn't read that last part in the blogpost. it reads like a desperate plea :( it makes me feel bad for them because the game otherwise looks great and they have even tweaked/improved the gameplay mechanics. it's a shame the game won't be successful because of the lack of online, but it was an incredibly stupid decision. i just hope sony realizes THAT is why sales for the game suck.

That's actually pretty cool. I just picked one up from J&R on eBay for $25. Thanks for the heads up on this

Wow, Really? The first time I played VT4 on the vita, I played arcade mode on Hard and didn't have to retry once. Anything before Very Hard is way too easy then there is a huge impossible spike.

Can someone that understands Japanese tell me what the latest live area update is for VT4? It links to a website that dates sometime in March.

Quick question:
I just recently bought a couple PSP games off the PSN store in anticipation of putting them on my Vita when its released here in the US. If I toss them on my PSP now or play them on PS3 will I have to deactivate the PSP and/or remove them from the PS3, or can I put it on each platform and play without restriction.

They are asking people to do a survey about what the want to see in future VT updates/DLC/whatever, maybe VT5 who knows

I have no problems at all until that final match, I literally didn't lose a single round until then...then I lost like 5 times in a row to that guy...it was very strange

How does the Vita handle PSP games? Is it stretched out and blurry ala DS on 3DS? Or is emulated to have nice sharp res?

As an extension, how do PS1 games look on it? I've played FFVII on my PSP and it's OK - would it be ok assume the PSV was at least the same quality?

You can choose the upscaling method. Pretty sure there is a 2x pixel mode, so it just doubles the pixels on everything, if you want to keep the sharpness, but honestly I like bilinear filtering on the games I have tried it with so far (Monster Hunter, Tactics Ogre...) You can switch at any time by pressing the touchscreen.

PS1 games don't work on Vita yet. Hope this gets enabled for US launch.

They do during Remote Play which is even more confusing....

The system will be out in less than a month, what is Sony waiting for to communicate about the official launch line-up (set in stone) and prices for PSN games ?
