Question for you, and all of GAF that uses backloggery. Do you use the completed metal for when you have fully completed a game, or when you have completed a game on your own terms?
yeah, i totally use my own system:
completed - saw the credits
beaten - beat game with help (game genie, tag-teamed with a friend etc)
mastered - did something i consider impressive (beat LTTP without saving, or say platinum'd a game)
null - got bored/will not make a chore of this (or it's a game where i don't think beating it is the intent, like non-gameboy tetris or wii sports or something)
I visited your backlog the other day and was pretty surprised at how many you'd added. You were always my inspiration having cleared almost the entire thing!
haha, thanks man! i admittedly game'd the system a bit when i finally cleared out last year's backlog, by nulling a couple 2011 purchases id not started until i finished off games i'd had in queue for years, but yeah, steam/GOG holiday sale deluge + getting a 3DS and trading some games here on GAF put me right back over 20. i've got a handful of last-gen games im dying to grab but refuse to until i'm back in the teens at least, haha.
ps you'll notice i finally grabbed Witcher 2, your review helped push me over man!
Completed = All modes beaten, all unlockables unlocked, and (if applicable) all achievements/trophies obtained. You know...When the game has been completed.
jive turkey,
you so crazy.
I use null for games I get bored with.
exactly this.
there's only a few - BG&E, Metroid Prime, etc - that i've nulled & returned to later, i try to be decisive here but if i hit like 2 or 3 water temples/mine cart levels and i'm just not digging it, i don't usually like forcing myself through just because of critical acclaim.
i think the most recent example for me was Lords of Shadow; i hear lots that i like about it and the art design's interesting, but i keep drudging on every now and again and i'm so quick to give up cause it's not the game i wanted. *shrug*
