I'm getting the starter kit which comes with both a pouch and a case.

Where's this kit available? I'm only seeing one that is pouch-only. US here.

I'm getting cold feet again. Looking at the launch lineup, there's nothing that jumps out at me. If there was one good open world or Western RPG for this thing...I should wait.

I haven't decided if I'm going to keep my 16GB memory card pre-order, or cancel it, since the 3G Vita I'm getting comes with an 8GB card, and I'm not sure I'll need a bigger one within the first month, since I'm buying my games retail as often as I can.

I do plan on downloading a few PSN PSP games, but those won't take up the card. The irony is that, if I don't buy the 16gig, it saves me $60, which I can use on either some Vita games, or on a bunch of PSN PSP games. But if I use it on PSP games, it may use up my 8gig card, and I'll need another memory card! lol.

Hmm. I think I may just keep the preorder afterall. I'm so torn!

The starter kit is different in North America. This one is only available in PAL territories.
I haven't seen it sold separately anywhere yet. Have you considered the Hori case? It seems like a good alternative.

Thanks for reply.
In Japan they sell the pouch for 1800 yen.
In US or Europe I cannot find it anywhere.
I'd like to have 2 cases.
One to keep the the Vita at home (and for that the pouch is unbeatable, little and essential) and one to move to travels (and the travel pouch is great for it I guess).

I totally agree. It's frustrating to have to read that shit on GAF. But it's even worse to see whole websites/podcasts like GiantBomb completely show no interest at all in the device. I mean, seriously?

It was mainly the Forbes article Sony in Big Trouble with PS Vita that I finally got around to reading that really got my ire. But the dismissive attitude on GB is worrying. I'm hoping Vinny or someone will get enamored with the tech and become a champion for it there...someone has too, right?

So I played one of the demo units at Gamestop. Japanese Vita owners, are the load times always that terrible? Gravity Rush was bad, but Wipeout was RI-DI-CULOUS.

Only Brad kind of cared about the 3DS until Mario and PushMo came out. I don't think Vinny even owns a 3ds; I doubt he'll buy a Vita.

thanks to PS+ I have a lot of quality PS1 games I'd love to play but I would never bother playing them on my ps3, but on a Vita I could easily see myself playing all of them

You're hoping for the wrong site to get excited with the Vita. If you've listened to their podcasts or read their coverage, you already know what you're gonna get.

Someone needs to create something on the Vita that will make them enamored with it. The system needs games that aren't just smaller versions of existing franchises. It needs games that highlight the unique aspects of the system itself and the portable gaming experience.

Look at how they basically ignored the 3DS until Pushmo.....

Escape Plan.

Just got done calling a bunch of gamestops and best buys around my area and to be surprise and ironically also the last best buy i called which was closest to me has the damn thing! SO SO SO excited to play it for the first time here in a little bit. I've been following it since the device was announced at 1:30am on January 27. It's gonna feel so good to finally play what almost seemed like it never existed, and now, it's gonna be in my hands.

I have a question for folks who have ordered stuff with release date shipping before on amazon. I actually haven't preordered much on amazon before. How long before the 15th should I expect amazon to ship/charge my credit card? Like, would it be as soon as friday the 10th, or would it be more likely to be on monday the 13th?

The reason I'm asking (and this is gonna sound silly to some people), is I'm having someone hold on to my money for the Vita until the I need it. I don't trust myself with money, when I have it in my possession, it burns a hole in my pocket, and I spend without wanting to. I'm giving it to someone so that it will be out of my reach, no matter how much I beg.

A lot of times it varies. It will be at the very earliest on the 12th to my experience. It can however be closer like the 14th. But you WILL get it on the 15th lol.

Take photos of the display! :)

If I pre-order something from them and I have credit with them, they immediately debit from my credit. If I'm just paying via Credit Card, they have never taken my money until it shipped. And I've been ordering from them for years.

I really don't see myself keeping the first edition bundle with the updates they did to the standard 3G version.

I can see many doing the same, not much incentive to keep it now.

I get to play with one every day. When customers aren't bothering me, anyway.

Little kid walks up and asks for a go, I wanted to tell him to sod off but I felt bad for thinking it and gave him a go.

I still think that case that comes with the first edition is pretty cool. With the Vita having those 2 analog sticks, the protection of the case would be nice. Also I already got 3 games ordered for the system, the storage for the games will come in handy. I can't see taking the Vita out of the house without some kind of carrying case, and the one that comes with the First Edition bundle is one of the best I've seen. Buying a stand alone case is still at least $15-20 to start.

I also said it before earlier in the thread, but Little Deviants actually looks like a cool game. It'll be a cool game to have to check out all the unique features that that Vita has right out of the gate.

The 3G/8gb bundle is not bad at $300, but I still don't see much value lost with the first edition bundle. The stuff that comes with the first edition bundle still easily adds to being worth over $350 imo, and having it a week early is a nice bonus for people like me who are excited to get their hands on it.

Went in last night for a wi-fi and a 32GB card on Amazon. Figure I have enough PSN PSP titles already that the extra space would come to quick use, and those games would keep me occupied until the reviews for the US launch titles roll in.

I preordered the Vita 3g bundle ($300). No games for me yet.

I figure I'll load it up with the things I've downloaded from PS+ and buy Valkyria Chronicles 2 (mostly why I want to have the system for now).

If you don't like their coverage, find different coverage.

I don't want a fansite mentality, with positive coverage for something that isn't good. But when they don't cover it at all, or there's an audible :eyeroll: when the topic comes up, that's just not covering the stories that interest me. I don't read Nintendo power to get Xbox news.

I'm not really getting cold feet, but I wish they wouldn't hold back some of the Japanese releases I really want. I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but I can't say enough that I wish Gravity Rush was a day 1 title. It looks so cool. I recently saw some footage for Ragnarok Odyssey, and that game looks really cool also. Looks kinda like a Monster Hunter game sorta, but not quite. I really wish we had something like that for the launch line up too. Of course Tales of Innocence R would've been nice also. We missed out on the DS version, I hope we get the Vita version.

Little Deviants is a $30 game, so the FE Bundle is only good value if you consider a case and a week early access to be worth $30. Even then, do you actually want Little Deviants?

I called around some GameStops last night, and a few of them said they received their tracking information for their store Vita, and should receive them Monday.

I'm in St. Louis, BTW, not sure about any Best Buys.

All I want to do is play FFVII on the vita with that gorgeous screen. PSone classics on the vita is one of the reason I'm buying it. I hope i'm able too

Got one of these in at work to demo. So sexy. Considering trading in my 3DS towards one... Uncharted and WipeOut on the go is just so tempting. I ended up buying and never playing a PSP 1000 at launch though, so I'm a bit hesitant to just dive in and get one. It feels like you're always better off waiting, but I'm a sucker for new tech.
