PRAISE TO THE HEAVENS

PRAISE THE LORD

reused animation -_- I hope that's not true.

What I'm watching in Spring

Zetaman
saint seiya Omega
Space bros
Fate zero

So what you're saying is, I should watch the original Saint Seiya series sometime?

If your interested in Saint seiya you should check out "saint seiya: the lost canvas" no need to watch the old one to enjoy plus it's only 26eps.

I can't believe we're talking about Spring season in February. Really?

Anyway it'll be fun to see every show competing for second place. Fate/Zero S2 is already the best show of the season.

What I'm saying is IT'S THE FUCKING DUDE FROM HEARTCATCH PRECURE DOING SAINT SEIYA

FOUNTAINS OF BLOOD

REUSED ANIMATION THAT DOESN'T SUCK SHIT

ALL OVER MY FUCKING FACE FUCK YES

Casshern Sins dude would be more appropriate. He also did key animation for the Bebop movie, FMA, and One Piece movie 6 iirc. So yeah at the very least this new Saint Seiya is going to look pretty hot.

So far, HeartCatch is following the magical girl monster of the week formula perfectly, but it does it well, and I've been promised it only gets better. There were a lot of very pulled back shots in this episode, though, with some awful drawing.

Anyway, Erika > Tsubomi
Spoilers for the whole thing:
Yuri > Itsuki
> Erika > Tsubomi

Casshern Sins was boring when people were not fighting with each other.

Actually that would be an exaggeration. It's not that it was boring, but there's only so many times you can play the "oh I'm just a poor boy nobody loves me (he's just a poor boy from a poor family spare him his life from this monstrosity)" angle before it becomes tiring.

Yeah... Those guys are pretty good. Can't forget about Zessica, for whatever reason, lol.

Hope Shrade isn't dead. ;_;

Just saw it
was that his va giving the voices over the preview? he just looked passed out, kind of tragic to die without even taking kagura down

What I'm watching in Spring:
Phi Brain 2
Fate/Zero 2
Kimi to Boku 2
Kore wa Zombie Jigoku Hen
Accel World
Shining Hearts

Will Try
Hyou-Ka
Hiiro no Kaketa
Eureka Seven Ao
Medaka Box

My heart sank when I heard that Kamiyama's Cyborg 009 reboot was going to be 3D animated, but the teaser actually didn't look bad at all to me. Certainly a hell of a lot better looking than the Berserk movies.

Sure(I don't agree with you), but if we are talking about how the fights will look then Casshern is the better indicator since he was fully involved with that show as the animation director.

The repetitiveness of Casshern Sins' dialogue really grated on me, and the narrative started with some intriguing hooks but didn't develop them into anything worthwhile. But Umakoshi isn't the writer of Casshern Sins, he's the animation director and character designer. The show always looked fantastic, and I expect the new Saint Seiya will as well.

He was really involved with Heartcatch's animation, though... as much as Toei's rough production schedule allowed him to be involved, anyway. Even beyond the 6 episodes he is credited as animation director for, he corrected a lot of stuff in random episodes. He drew the bancho characters in episode 18, for example.

What I want to say is essentially: if something looked good in Heartcatch, it was usually thanks to Umakoshi.

These are the 6 episodes he was animation director of: 1, 10, 23, 34, 48, 49

Using Heartcatch as an example of his talents seems pretty sensible to me.

Thankfully Shigeyasu Yamauchi is nowhere to be seen near Saint Seiya Omega.

Hopefully.

Just a quick re-watch before I get to this week's episode. I find it interesting that when Kouichi wants a word with Mei, he instinctively knows go to the doll shop and she will be there. He just stands in front of the doll which looks like her and she appears, as cute as ever.

Upon re-watch, the reference to The Omen becomes absolutely crystal clear, like the piece of glass Kouichi sees his reflection in.
In The Omen, one of the deaths involves someone getting beheaded by a piece of glass. You can see Kouichi clearly touching his throat with his hand as he looks at the glass panel and Horror Nurse's voice mentions Damien again.

Speaking of Horror Nurse,
that is some brutal shit when she is splattered in the falling elevator. You can hear her gurgling through the cell phone static as Kouichi looks horrified. I'm still impressed that while cell phones always lose signal at just the most dramatic moments in this show, at this very moment when the cell phone needs to maintain a signal even though it was just in a falling elevator and everything is smashed to bits, it works just long enough for Kouichi to hear Horror Nurse's death gurgles.
This show has the soundscape of horror absolutely down pat.

All right, onwards to this week's episode!

Ano Natsu 5

It's pretty obvious that Remon knows what's up and what better way to utilise such knowledge than by trolling the shit outta everyone!

The full version and off vocal version of the ending song, Anamnesis, is nice. Anyway decent episode, a cool down after the previous hectic ones was nice.
Confused on why this years class 3 has to ignore two people instead of one, seems kind of a dubious way to thwart whatever the curse is. Oh well, Teshigawara was safe. I wonder if Sakakibara is the actual "ghost"?

I liked the way Sakakibara turned the page, animation was smoothish.

There is a 90% chance the ending of Ano Natsu 05 will roll into the next episode with "just kidding".

Oh no I'm not saying it isn't, indeed it very much is. I don't mean to sound like I am downplaying his work on that show, rather that if I were to point to a single title that easily demonstrates his style I would pick Casshern first.

Is there seriously going to be a Thomas the Tank Engine anime?
Because I would watch that.

Cowboy Bebop 1-5

I don't know how to judge this. Most of the times I'm just bored out of my mind while watching the episodes, especially in the first half, but then when the final action scenes kick in, it gets very interesting. I mean it really has some great moments so far, but I'm just not really interested by most of the events.

Also watching it dubbed, and outside of the main trio, everyone else is very lulzworthy.

Phi Brain 18

Too bad Kaito is still Rook- and puzzle-sexual, he missed a great thing with that bat outfit.

Preview seems to indicate
the armband going back into rebound mode, so it'll be interesting to see what comes of that
.

Another 05:

Well, okay. They sure got to the explaining of this part of the story a lot sooner than I expected. Judging from the PV of episode 6, it's clear that this episode and the next one represent the turning point in the story.

And yeah, shit is getting kind of unexpected now. They answered the core mystery of the first half of the series in this episode in a surprisingly routine manner, using The Explainer Method. (Named after The Explainer who explains everything to Keanu Reeves at the end of The Matrix Reloaded, of course.) So I guess that's that.

We're getting into some serious
"I see dead people"
shit now. I hope Yukito Ayatsuji knew what he was doing. The telegraphing of the next phase of the story is getting hard to ignore.
I'm betting at this point, if we take what has been explained so far to be true, that Mei is the "ghost" manifested in physical form for this year's class and so Koichi is going to fall desperately in love with the cutest ghost any of us have ever seen. Of course then shit is going to get really real when people keep on dying and then we get some crazy ending where the other class members all go Children of the Corn and try to kill Kouichi and Mei in a desperate attempt to end this year's curse, and in the end they all die in a horrible gruesome way at the moment they are about to murder the two except Kouichi and Mei, who vanishes in Kouchi's arms while he sobs when this year's curse lifts due to everyone being dead. Man, I should be writing bad horror novels or something.

But now shit is going to actually get real now, because everyone seems to be ignoring the obvious fact that they were already implementing the "countermeasure" of reducing the class size by one by ignoring poor Mei. They believe that adding Kouichi to the real-life Ignore List will solve the problem, yet how can it? On the face of it, the whole concept is entirely stupid. Izumi made her first mistake by not explaining everything to Kouichi right at the very beginning, but she's compounding her mistake by implementing this new countermeasure without even considering the consequences.

I hope the dying keeps on keeping on, because this episode's death was kind of crappy. I mean, come on, a heart attack? People die of those every day! I was expecting someone falling into a wood chipper or something like that. This is the first time I was disappointed by a death in this show. The next one had better be someone crossing the road and a car comes and hits them and they are sent flying through the air into a sign and beheaded by the signpost or something. I will be very disappointed otherwise!

There's no particular way to judge it. But, with that said, if you're not digging the dynamics between the crew (though the dynamics are hardly there in full by the fifth ep) in your approach of the material, and never do, you probably won't have enjoyed Cowboy Bebop much at all by the end of it. Don't let the pressure of its status effect your viewing in either direction, as hard as that is at this point. The action in Bebop really is a very, very small, (and insignificant, imo) piece of its pie.

Jex is clearly pulling dem strings to reclaim his place atop the wall o' shame.

Nah, it's too late now. If won't be posting that much by 20,000.

Creepily enough, he hit 1,342 posts, which is the most I ever reached in a single thread (by the end of Spring 2011).

And so we leave the era of the monocle. Long live the mustache!

Don't be so modest, you have it in ya. Just pretend multi-quote no longer exists!

That looks like my own list, although I'm not going to bother with AKB48 or the Rock Lee thing.

So, we've discovered today that Jex can't do math?

20,000 posts (cap) - 17,918 posts (now) = 2,082 posts until the cap

1,342 posts (the late, great HNNNGH) - 1,058 posts (Jex) = 284 posts spread between HNNNGH and Jex

Ahahahah, I see that Jex edited his post before I could finish my reply to it. His original post said something to the effect of "If you do the math, you'll see it's impossible because we'll reach 20,000 even if every single post was by me" or similar.

Also, there's nothing creepy about it, the conspiracy is becoming clearer and clearer as we speak!

I don't know what you're talking about.
Oh cajun... First rule of OT: Stay away from political threads, religious threads, sexual orientation threads, and racism threads. Just play it safe.

You might as well recommend stay out of gaming threads!

Or, alternatively, post in a manner which won't get you banned.
Yami 9

How am I only on episode 9? Meirin is adorable at least and Gargantua remains the worst kind of fabulous.
You seem to be enjoying this too much.

If all live up to their potential, it's going to be one glorious season. I'll be starting out with only Apollon, Space Bros, Sankarea, Tsuritama, and Saint Seiya, but I'll probably end up with a couple more on that list and have dropped Sankarea by time all's said and done.
