Jackson or Colston would be their best bet. Patriots need a big WR. By the way, what happened with Taylor Price and why he got out so fast? Injuries? I followed him a bit when he played with the Ohio Bobcats, and when he was drafted in the 3rd round I was a bit intrigued.

I dont know if he was injured ,I just think he wasn't any good.I mean after he got cut he signed with the Jaguars and didn't do anything there.

I read this yesterday

Taylor Price came from a poor passing offense at Ohio, especially efficiency wise. The most balls he every caught in a season was 56 his senior year. The route concepts at Ohio were very basic and he wasn’t asked to do much in way of running option routes. So naturally when he came to New England he struggled to pick up the route tree and playbook. Price didn’t last more than 1 season in New England, which speaks to how far behind he really must have been.

It's from a pretty nice article regarding the Patriots WR draft failures : http://www.nepatriotsdraft.com/2012/02/drafting-wide-receivers-a-patriots-case-study.html

That Randy Moss fellow worked out alright for the Patriots.

They need a deep threat, badly. I don't think it makes a ton of sense for them to break the bank and to bring in a guy like Desean though but I could totally see it happening and it'd be a good move for them.

Djax and moss are completely different players, especially at the stage of moss' career when he was with the pats.

:jnc at the Patriots offense "needing a deep threat badly." As has already been said, Brady throws a bad deep ball. In addition, he is a statue in the pocket behind a mediocre-at-best offensive line. Their quick-hitting, crossing route based offense mitigates both of those weaknesses. Forcing a "deep threat" into that lineup is simply unnecessary and doesn't play to their strengths at all. The Patriots take control of football games with their grindy pass offense. Why anyone would want to add a "deep threat" (who is generally one of the more over-rated players in football) is beyond me. Now, if they could add a guy who can run go's but also run routes (like a Andre Johnson) or fight for the ball (Moss) then it makes sense. Maybe Vincent Jackson? It's tough to say because he hasn't given a single fuck in what, three seasons?

The Patriots don't "need" to add anything to that offense.

Like Randy Moss said"go up top take the top off the defense".

Wha? Brady usually has a ton of time to throw and go through several reads. I think their line is pretty damn good and usually never get any credit.

Don't go Peter King on us and give the qb all of the credit.

Yeah, OL really isn't one of their key concerns.

Edit: Wait, why are we talking football in the catch all pop culture discussion thread?

Yeah they had three centers this year along with injuries to the right side of their line all year and I think they were still pretty good. But eznark's point is still valid, their success is predicated on their tight ends, so I'm not sure that deep threats are needed even if they'd be nice.

I give most of the credit to the schemes. Because they run so damn many crossing routes and try to sneak the tight ends behind them, it sort of forces the defense to play zones underneath if you want to be successful (especially the linebackers). You don't see a lot of teams blitzing Brady because of the routes and personnel. It's interesting, because they don't have a running back on the roster basically. lol at law firm.

When faced with a team that could get pressure with just the front four, the Patriots struggled. Thinking that Brady can consistently drop 7 and find Jackson deep accurately is foolish. Moss was successful because he could fight for the football. DeSean Jackson doesn't know the meaning of fight.

And I'm not sure why this turned into "eznark thinks they need to add o-line." I specifically said their offense needed nothing!

Their schemes are good. But I still think their o-line is pretty damn good too.

I agree that Brady has a noodle arm and it would be a waste to send an elite deep WR to New England. Just look at how he ended Ocho's career?

The Moss stuff seems to be more and more of an aberration and I always gave the credit to Moss. When Moss gives a damn he is unstoppable until you reach a championship game. Half of those passes Brady threw to him were just up for grabs and Moss ended up making him look good. But as always, Brady gets all the credit.

God I hate that shemale.

God I had that shemale.

So, I did not say the line was bad! I said mediocre at best. Most of that is because they are one dimensional, pass-pro focused. They run no screens (and the screens they do run are generally one or two pulls, nothing eventful), no traps, no plays really at all with a pulling guard. They are vanilla as shit. They do nothing special. That's what I mean by mediocre. Despite what Roger Goodell and the Pac-10 want you to believe, there is more to life than a five step drop!!

unrelated: i need that "worst day ever gif" please

You had him? As in you had sex with him? Interesting, I knew you love the Pats, but that is a bit extreme.

What the Patriots 'need' is a bigger more dominant Deion Branch.

Didn't you get the memo ez? NFL is an all passing league now. I can't wait until Goodell gets rid of those disgusting fat lineman and replaces them with hot ladies holding ads and the 7 MISSISSIPPI system on offense.

Tackles will still be allowed (against running backs and special teams players).

The future is going to be a wonderful place!

Highlighted for posterity :D

Edit: Beaten, dammit!

had = hate

And good luck getting a good receiver in free agency!

If only the Pats had some high round draft picks (and knew how to use them!).

I think someone should remind bionic that the Steelers were swept by Flacco and Tebow and Alex Smith.Thats worse than getting swept by Eli before someone says anything.

I was honored to lose to Tebow.

Smith we lost to because our team is old as fuck and fell apart at the end of the season.

Losing to Flacco was pretty embarassing, but the Ravens were the best team in football this year and would have won the SB if their coach and team were not retarded.

At the end of the day though I would pick anything over losing in the Superbowl. It isn't like we lack for recent SB wins either. The Pats were a pretty shit team this year that benefited from a shitty league and a lot of good fortune, are you happy that you go to the end only to be denied by Eli yet again? Those one and done seasons don't sound so bad anymore now do they?

It is better to have lived and lost than to have never lived at all.

Maybe we can take Mike Wallace from you guys!

You just don't understand Bill his draft geniusness.
Maybe Bill's two loves in life are getting a bunch of scrubs to win the Superbowl and fucking other peoples' wives?

I mean he pulled it off in 2001 with the aid of the officials, a special teams miracle, and some nifty camera work (not to mention Satan and somehow 9/11 probably inspired them). He almost pulled it off again this year.

Normally a team that losses in the SB is doomed to suck the next season but then again they are doing some amazing shit with digital cameras these days so I wouldn't count the Pats out just yet!

What happened?
His father in law supposedly had an accident trying to cut some wood in his workshop and cut off part of his hand (it was only like half of his ringer finger so ez thinks it is no big deal).

Most of us don't buy that shit and think ez just cut that shit off and that is the "official story" they came up with.

Everyone post something quick so we can get to the next page and pretend we never saw "that".

Sorry 100 post per page people. You are out of luck.
