Jeremy Lin: Asian American, Harvard Grad... NBA great?

The real challenge is keeping it up from here on out. Guy has alot of expectation now and while I don't doubt he can keep it up, I wouldn't be surprised if it started to fall apart. Alot of pressure in NY and who knows how his play will translate with Melo coming back into the game.

Really, it seems people have seen a few solid games out of this guy and are comparing him to some of the greats. That is just not right. Time will tell if he can stand up to the NBA greats.

With Amare back and Melo coming back Lin should naturally transition into more of a pure pg and his scoring should go down. As long as he dishes the ball, takes less shots, and lowers his turnovers I could see the quality of his play stay high just take on a different role. If he tries to remain the top scorer and 1st option then he'll probably fall apart at some point.

have you seen his game?
he's as clutch as jerry west.
the handles of magic, and the fierceness of michael.
you can't deny that.
his talents oozes on the court.

Could you ever see Jeremy Lin having an ESPN special entitled "The Decision" and announce that he's bringing his talents to South Beach? Fuck no. When he's on the court he's fierce and unrelenting, but when the clock hits 0.0 he's the most humble guy in the arena. He makes 95% of the other megastars of the NBA look like squabbling schoolchildren.
praise our god

Can you name any undrafted, minimum salary players, that have ridden the bench for most of their NBA career, that are not humble? I think most of them are pretty humble.

That may be, but I just cannot see it within himself to ever be one of those arrogant, self important stars the NBA has unfortunately become known for the past ten+ years. He's like Charlie from the Great Glass Elevator ffs.

I dunno 8 turnovers tonight, and 30 in 5 games? Not to mention it was against the lolraptors.

He's got potential sure, but anybody in the right position does, still have to wait how things turn out when Melo comes back.

He def needs to improve with the turnovers and his FT shooting, but I think the former will lessen once he learns the subtitles of the plays and gets comfortable with his teammates. This was his first game back with Amare and he is a rookie (almost) after all.

You guys make make the hate NFLGAF had for Tebow seem minuscule in comparison. You guys act like he killed kittens or something lol SO MAD

Can he keep it up is the question. Now that he has the big back with him, will he be able to keep it going? Don't throw a few good games at me and say that he is comparable to the greats. I don't deny that he has played top notch basketball recently, but seeing a few games and comparing him to the greats is just shortsighted. He clearly melds well with the Knicks but I genuinely wonder if he can keep it up. He has already become the Tebow of the NBA.

I'm pretty sure he's trolling non NBA-GAF posters LOL

I have no idea how these things work in basketball but you might want to make sure YOU know before you act like it's a foolish question.

Jesus christ, how is asking the means in which a citizen of one team can play for another country a foolish question?

The reason why I asked is because I didn't know. That's why we ask questions. Fortunately numble was nice enough to answer my question. I can only assume you inferred a large dose of hostility in my question which explains the angry tone of your answer. Why, I have no idea.

To clarify, I was not saying your question was foolish, I was referring to my question, which you quoted.

I asked:
Is Lin eligible to play for the national team of either China or Taiwan, based on the rules that govern such things?

Your response:
How is an American supposed to play for a foreign team?

How is your question any different from mine? Why would you respond to my question with almost the exact same question? I assumed the tone was hostile, as if it should be obvious that as an American he would not be able to play for another team (as some morans are saying here, apparently and unsurprisingly based on zero facts... yeah Lin is just like Shaq... he also has a Taiwanese passport right?). If not, I'm not sure why if you were going to quote my question you didn't say something like "I would like to know this as well."
If I misinterpreted the tone of your response, I apologize.

D Rose
KD
Harden
Blake Griffin

Most of the young(rookies to 4th years) generation aren't that arrogant at all really. I don't know where you go t this mentality that everyone in the NBA except Lin is humble. Get that outta here.

Wait 4 years and then check that list again

As for griffin I mean even though it was just the dunk contest, anybody who agrees to dunk over a car while a gospel choir is singing for them at halfcourt has plenty of nba diva potential

Or they just like money

Remember when Dwight Howard came into the league and was ready to spread his Christianity and virtue to all?

Good times.

Dude said he was going to put a cross on the NBA logo.

Few years later, he is begging Marey Carey for her pussy in her bathroom.

Good times.

Lin is steadily getting overrated. Playing in D'Antoni's system inflates stats like no other.

He would be getting far fewer points, fewer assists, and have more turnovers in any other playing system. In fact, he'd be Brevin Knight on any other team aside from the Knicks.

Jeremy is so sorry that he doesnt have the oppurtunity to dump the ball in the post and go stand free throw line extended.

Knicks fan here and I think Lin's season averages will fall in the range of:

13-17ppg
2-5rpg
5-8apg
1-2spg

And most likely his numbers will be:

14ppg
3rpg
7apg
1spg

His turnover's will be high this year because he's a pg that doesn't have much experience. The good thing is that he's seeing plays, he's just seeing them late. This happens when an inexperienced pg with vision is adjusting to the NBA game.

Like Toney Douglas' stats?

So he's a less awesome Tim Duncan? He can't be as cool as Timmy D because he doesnt have a wizard tattoo and play D&D.

I haven't been keeping up with basketball for a while now. Lin got me interested again. I just like the whole underdog thing. I'll just enjoy the run while it lasts. I hope it last for a long time because if he is more successful it would help the Asian stereotype in a positive way.

It's not a foolish question:

Time will tell whether he achieves greatness. Right now the whole city is buzzing and people are fucking upbeat. Even as someone who's barely paying attention the ride is fun.

Haters gonna hate.

No matter what you think about his race, it's hard to argue that this man has single-handedly rejuvenated basketball, which afaict has been on a major downswing ever since the Jordan/Magic days in terms of mainstream popularity. Doesn't help that a lot of the "next Jordans" like Lebron turned out to be nothing but greedy thugs.

If you like the NBA, you should be glad that Lin is getting people back into the sport after a long hiatus.

Those people wont stay. NBA has been on an uptick since last season. Great ratings for finals last year. Great ratings and records for playoffs last year. And after lockout

http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports....at-lockout-nba-christmas-ratings-set-records/

Sure he is helping the swing but NBA was moving up in ratings and attendance since Lebron came to the heat. It's good for the game but when lin comes back to earth most of the casuals will leave.
