The Punk Thread

if you care about the history of punk, this is an absolute must read. It's told all through previous interviews, so it's all dialogue/people reciting crazy ass stories. MC5 and the Stooges are covered pretty heavily too

Speaking of "must-[consume]", this is a must-listen to album. I've mentioned them here before in this thread but I'm gonna do it again cuz their album is streaming now. It's Classics of Love's debut LP, and it's unreal. COL is Jesse Michaels from Op Ivy being backed by the dudes from the Hard Girls. It's unbelievable and a nice throwback to 80's harccore

Not into much punk other than Bad Religion, Social D, Green Day, NoFX, Rancid, Less Than Jake, Ramones, The Clash, and Buck O Nine.

I consider myself more of a Cyberpunk, listening to Prodigy, Atari Teenage Riot, etc.

by far the coolest punk thing I know is 'short music for short people', a compilation cd put together by fat mike of nofx. 99 songs, all approx 30 seconds to a minute long. tons of great bands on there including some FAMOUS ones!

Punk is awesome, but Punk-GAF kinda disappoints me here. Five pages and no mention of one of the best and most legendary punk albums ever made?

any bands out there like pennywise?

Ignite, which incidentally is the original band of Pennywise's new singer.

And then there is Jim Lindbergs (the previous singer for Pennywise) new band The Black Pacific.

And if you haven't yet, then get crackalacking with epitaphs Punk-O-Rama compilations. Volume 1 to 8 contains plenty of inspiration for bands in the same mould as PW.

If you didn't know yet, the singer has a new band:

Bad Co. Project - Mission Mohawk

Yeah, I have both albums :)
I like Mission Mohawk but didn't care for Sucker Stories too much.

Got to see Oxymoron several times before they broke up. One of the last times being here in Connecticut where they played in front of 10 people in the middle of a snow storm.

I had to listen to the singer from Toxic Narcotic cry like a baby all night about the bad turnout and how hey drove all they way from Boston. While the band from Germany didn't say a peep and played a great set for the few of us that were there.

Definitely one of my favorite bands.

The fuck? This actually happened?

Their anti-sellout lyrics are unintentionally hilarious now.

Uploading that MASSGRAVE video I shot at my house months ago. Should be a couple of hours.

It's awesome to see this thread kicking.

Just saw metz (metz.bandcamp.com) in a living room. These guys are fucking awesome. Lot of respect for them playing that show, they get fairly large paying gigs normally.

Here's one yall probably haven't heard. Spanish punk band from Portland, Oregon - Adelit@s. One of my favorite songs from them.

And I'm curious: does anyone here identify as punk? Like, is it a key element of your self-identified style and politics?
