During two in fact, at both WM26 and the first MITB PPV, I also had similar thoughts back then as WWE were pretty high on him despite Drew being pretty boring at that point, honestly I don't think he's that great now but back in 2009/2010 he was sleep inducing and ended a great run of IC champs.

People were saying "Nooo!" because it was rushed, and unnecessary at the time. Given a proper build I can get behind it. It's not like he's some terrible performer like Miz, but rushing into something like that is beyond bad and won't get over for very long.

Yep, Drew had a gimmick like this on the indies before he was hired by WWE.

A clean shaven Drew actually has a bit of a Vega look, I say we go for it (if only because Vega is probably my favourite Street Fighter character).
Though as mentioned Masked Rhodes was pretty similar, all things considered I enjoyed that gimmick right down to the baggers. But then again if he did this before then he'd be pretty damn adapt at it, the alternative is to be on the star making losing streak storyline.

Another storyline for Drew. He starts playing up this gay character the next couple of weeks, but finally Teddy has enough and fires him. Drew shows up the next week with Otunga and announces that he is suing Teddy due to wrongful termination due to discrimination against gays and Otunga is his attorney handling the matter. Laurinitis hires him back as a showing of his great leadership and non discrimination to the board and he is on Team Laurinitis at Mania.
