I shed a tear every time I pass the Halo & Need for Speed Mega Bloks. What a waste.

Stop walking past the 911GT3 RS and just buy it. Once you get over that (almost*) irrational brand loyalty, you'll appreciate your new model.

*I say 'almost' because the materials are undoubtedly cheaper. Better instruction manuals though.

Luckily for you, Nintendo went with Knex:

This was always a really odd pairing for me, especially since the name sounds to much like Knect

Does anyone here ever feel the minifigs outside the packets to be sure they don't get multiples? every time I'm at the series bins, I am there for like half an hour, feeling for new figs I don't have while other people there just grab randomly & pay at the counter.

i totally do that too, but I must admit I always feel silly when doing it. ;p

I remember getting a big K'Nex box when those first came out. Those things could build extremely large sets. I followed the instructions for a windmill which ended up being almost 5 feet high.

Granted, I'd take Lego over K'Nex anyday, but as far as offering something similar but still unique - I think they succeeded. Plus, those K'Nex were extremely sturdy.

This has been a fun thread to follow. The LEGO addiction is starting to sink in deeper every time I visit!

For those of you who have built the new Millennium Falcon, is it typical to have a bunch of leftover parts (as in over a dozen)? I'm missing about 3 pieces out of the box that I'll have to request from LEGO, but the odd thing is that there's several large pieces leftover. Usually it's just a few tiny pieces left over after building other sets.

with all the creator sets I have there were always a few pieces left over, I believe they are always the same and part of the plan.
I've never had pieces actually missing though.

I just hit up a Toys R Us as an impulse as my other store I wanted was closed.

I now have multiples of Genie (1), Butcher (1), Mechanic (3), Leprechaun (1), Space Girl (3), Alien (1) and Doctor (1).

Looking for Medieval Guy, Bedtime Guy, Statue Liberty, Dancer (red brick as legs), Minotaur and Skateboard Girl.

Would love to trade. Respectable dealer on eBay, send me a PM.

The odd thing with this set is that there are several large tiles leftover (4x8 or 6x6, something like that). Usually it's the smaller pieces that are left. Makes me paranoid that I somehow built the damn thing incorrectly!

that does indeed sound strange, but lets wait for some other falcon builder to comment ;)

Good thing I picked up Fire Brigade when I did. Amazon is sold out of them now and is only has them through their Marketplace sellers, with the cheapest one being $200!

Went to TRU again today & bought this instead.

Update:

I dropped this piece of junk off at the UPS store and wrote Amazon customer service. They upgraded the replacement order to one-day shipping so I should receive it tomorrow (hopefully in an outer box) and they gave me $10 Amazon credit for the inconvenience. She also said she forwarded my message to their shipping department.

Thinking about it, this hasn't really upset me very much. The box is so ridiculously damaged that the blatant disregard for packaging is just kind of comical and funny.

A few more Lego pickups I just landed.

lego_sort.jpg

Found it in Target, it was more expensive on Amazon and no longer on shop.lego.com so I decided to snag it.

Been looking for this in store forever now, it seems to always be out of stock on shop.lego.com and when I was at the Lego store this past weekend they didn't have it either, so I snatched it right up when I surprisingly found it in TRU

Also expecting my purchase from shop.Lego.com sometime next week or the week after.

I'm going to keep an eye out for it in the amazon warehouse sale.

That sucks but Amazon has great customer service about stuff like this.

It's odd what happened to that box, never had Amazon ship out legos like that. It also could have been UPS fault as well, as they have in the past for our customer shipments literally taken contents out of a damaged box they caused, and would but them into a new box to try and pass it off as normal. UPS would argue it saying the box is fine, but the customers have shown us pics of what they got and it's not how we pack at all.

What are those middle layers portrayed in the sticker?

The whole big thing is a sort and store. I haven't opened it up to mess with it fully yet, but it seems as though each layer has different sized holes for bricks to fall through which sorts them out. So each layer of the head will contain pieces of the same size.

I guess you pour them in the top, and do a gentle shake to coax them through the holes and down into their respective layers of the head, sorting them.

Not sure if I will actually use it like that, I saw it for $20 and thought that was a decent price for a big ass Lego head. I will indeed use it for storage, but maybe not in the same way they intended.

There are also some decoders out there for what each minifig bag has. There are little 'bumps' on the bottom back side of the bag that can help you determine which minifig it is. I used those to find the Genie and Minotaur.

The Lego Shop website has it for $299. Did they just jack that up for the Double VIP points starting today? I could have swore it was only $149.

Not surprising, given this thread's recent popularity explosion.

I know a lot of you guys will say it's because of Tested/Bricked or whatever it's called, but that site/show/podcast (seriously, I know nothing about it) has nothing to do with my recent interest in Lego. I just happened to get back into Star Wars and decided to check out the modern Lego sets haha

Now i'm sitting on a $40 Walmart gift card, wondering if I should get the Death Star or SSD for $360. That's still crazy expensive, though.

This thread was already booming before the Tested thing. I never even heard of that site untill someone posted a topic of it and I just looked into it because it was about LEGO.
I only saw part 0 too btw ;)

I was kidding :p The day Tested could put a dent into an earnings report of a company the size of LEGO is the day they catch a heretofore unknown fatal flaw in a product.

I've been getting Lego as presents from girlfriend for years now (cause its a guarantee that I'll love it) and now I'm in a financial position to buy all the big sets I never could as a child.

People in their mid-twenties (like me) love nostalgia, so having grown up around
Lego sets like Space Police, Rescue, Spyrius, Castle, Pirates etc. which are truly iconic. It makes sense that those kids would return to toys they loved in the past.

P.S. Hopefully going to pick up a Tantive IV (10198) tonight

I think you're onto something. Maybe the sets were so awesome ~20 years ago, that all of us who were little kids at the time are now late twenties and able to afford the awesome high-dollar sets.

Not only do I feel silly but I end up not being able to actually tell what I'm feeling and so I get the wrong ones anyway haha. Maybe I'll try the bump codes.

Are you guys saying you have to buy opaque bags of mystery figures without knowing what you're paying for? And you feel silly for trying to figure out what they are?

That's dumb. Yet...I am still jealous that I don't live in a city with a Lego Store :p

Well I just assume most people that see me standing there grovelling the bags think I'm a weirdo, not that I mind mind you. ;)

And sadly I don't have a Lego store close by either.

Funny story. I had to stop at a Hardware Store for something work related this afternoon and noticed they had those Stanley storage boxes back in stock that I've been using for sorting so I picked a couple up.
I get to the checkout and they have a box of series 6 minifigs on the counter. Last place I expected to see that. Oh well you never know.
Got the spacegirl, another Butcher and Two Leprechauns (bringing my total to 3.) and more than a few strange looks from other working type folk! LOL.
I think I'm done buying minifigs now since I seem to get more repeats than new ones when ever I pick a couple up. Sorry grey alien. I guess it just wasn't meant to be! :(

I built it a few months ago, I wasn't missing any pieces, and I only had some small pieces left over.
