Well, don't make videos of the next closed beta, because it has a pretty strict NDA, you can't even tell people that you're in![]()
Maybe they will let the NDA up after the weekend is over then reinstate it for the next? IDK.
I would like to hope so.

Yeah, I don't see why they decided on such a strict NDA for a closed beta where anyone can get invited for. With press closed betas you know most press guys have some kind of code of conduct and the chance of multiple people breaking the NDA is pretty slim. But with the next closed beta you just know there are going to be multiple people leaking videos and info on boards such as these. It just seems like a hassle having to go after all those people.
fucking gold mine!
i really like this video i found on that site

My god. That was a great video. That huge swamp mob looked awesome. My jaw hit the floor near the end of the video .... starting with The Black Citadel, it put the city environment into perspective and showed exactly how detailed and vast the environments are.
There will definitley be leaks from the beta weekend. I'm guessing the NDA was put in place to stop people releasing pictures, videos etc with low settings on their crappy PCs and giving people the wrong impression.
After watching numerous videos of different classes, some even played decently well, it's becoming even more unbearable: How many times must I watch a class video and go, "Oh I'm definitely making one of those!" and then watch another class and say the same thing? I've never seen anything like it in a MMO. I have always been able to focus on two or three classes, but... ugh...

At least a few people better make necros.Yeah, I've actually been looking at Engineer as one of my first 5 lately. I think it will be one of the most underplayed classes but man people are going to underestimate it, the diversity that class brings is INSANE. I made a defensive capture point build the other day, was quite fun to come up with.

Have we found out if there is any benefit at all to sticking with one character the whole time? The achievements being spread across the board might finally free me from thinking I can't re-roll due to losing progress but I want to make sure there isn't anything that DOESN'T transfer across accounts. Besides having to level up all over, of course.
Tons of achievements and other things are account wide so play what you want, when you want. There's achievements like kill 1,000 WvW invaders, right now it's hard to say if it's account wide or per character, though I'd bet it's account wide. I think they're really trying to focus on the whole play whatever you want as much as possible and not force you to redo certain achievements on every character. They did this a lot in GW1 where some title tracks related to the story were per character and that made sense.
Nah, didn't touch it in GW1 and don't see myself doing it in 2. PVE 4 life!Well if you're going to play PVP, you pretty much have to play at least 3-4 classes. I'm going with at least Ranger, Thief and Necro.
WvW is like PVE except endless mobs to kill (players)Nah, didn't touch it in GW1 and don't see myself doing it in 2. PVE 4 life!

I think we are desperate for more details or something concerning this game. This is about the third time we have talked about order of play lists.
Concerning the skill points on maps and the challenges to get them. Do we know if those are the same for all professions and races? It would be cool if they varied them up and did some specific ones or maybe some group ones. It would be cool to see something like a group full of elementalists taking on an elemental to get a skill point.

They're the same for everyone. Originally obtaining Traits had profession specific stuff like an Elementalist seeking out tomes to learn from. So they moved that over to how acquiring new skills worked, but tweaked it because they found that people were splitting up to go do their own profession stuff rather than staying to play together.
Oh and a new interview with Jon Peters:

Why is this? I've always loved getting really good with one type instead of switching. Could never do the "alt" thing.
Well like GW1, this is still a team build game. If the team build (for example) needs 3 warriors, ele and ranger but you only want to play engineer, you're going to be left out.
If you really want to play just one class, of course you can do it. It's your game. And not every team build has to be something special that requires just those specific classes. But believe me, it's good being flexible in GW. You get to play more too because people want you in their team.![]()
Eh...maybe. Still out of the following two options, there is one I prefer. A) Roll build which has been working great, user X rolls the required 5th character. B) Have to change build because user X can't roll the required character. Usually when B happens, you just go PUG.Just make another team build. GW2 is more flexible like that.

I was more referring to people playing classes they already know how to play. Only really good PvP players just jump into unknown classes. It was like me trying to play flag runner in GW1...OMG... It takes too much time to make team builds with proper synergy. Coming up with a group of them is pretty rough. Usually you have a single team build and leech off a meta. And if you start scrambling, then you are pretty much running PUG. But many PvP players don't mind scrambling so that's not necessarily an evil. But typically if you can find another build that works (which, as I said, is much easier than GW2 than other games because of the extremely modal nature of all classes/abilities/traits) - then you can run it. Especially if the class itself fits into the build anyway.
If my friend and I start with different classes how long would it be until we could meet up?
I was wondering the same thing as my friends want to play different races then what i intend to for now. I'm pretty sure i read somewhere a while ago that you can get an Asura portal to another races starting area, i know you can from one capital to another so you could just run straight to the race capital, get the asura portal to your friends capital and then meet.
This game has surpassed Diablo 3 as my most looked forward to, and I wouldn't have thought that was possible a few months ago.
I'm pretty sure I'll be starting with a Charr Engineer, followed up by (in constantly shifting order) an Elementalist, Mesmer, and Warrior.
The big thing for me is that it's so fundamentally different than other MMOs that it really has killed any interest in playing any other MMOs because of the simple fact that it is not Guild Wars 2.
If my friend and I start with different classes how long would it be until we could meet up?
Agreed. I'm still playing Swtor to kill time with some other games and every video I see about GW2 makes me want to smash Swtor with a hammer. Kind of sad really.
