Given the leaguewide skepticism about Howard, Rondo or Gasol getting dealt -- ditto for Nash and Josh Smith, too -- Minnesota's Michael Beasley might well rank as the player of prominence most likely to be moved at this stage.

And that's only if Beasley's status as the No. 2 overall pick from the 2008 draft can still enable us to get away with calling him prominent.

The real winner of the Michael Beasley lottery is me.

Anyone have one of the knicks/mavs game where dirk gets T'd up and the official mouths "You wanna go? You wanna go?"

I stand by both of those statements.

What.

No they haven't. How are your takeaway from games "the Knicks bench kept pace with the Spurs bench!" and "they showed flashes, man! Flashes!" when all they are doing is pulling up for asshole 3 after asshole 3.

I can take away "the Knicks bench kept pace with the Spurs bench" cause that's what fucking happened clown... And way to mischaracterize what I said, that was in responce to you saying the Spurs bench could beat the Knicks.

And they have shown flashes, they went on huge runs in the Boston and Dallas games and almost scored 70 points in the 2nd half of the Spurs game. Yes, they have shown flashes of being able to play up to the sum of their parts (mixed with flashes of some of the sloppiest ball I've ever seen). That's not some outlandish statement, hop off my nuts...

I didn't look at the list, yet, so I was guessing. Ibaka shouldn't be over Marc, even with age and contract. Or Millsap.

Not sure where he ranks Marc Gasol yet. His Part 2 isn't up yet.

But players ranked behind Serge, and out of Top 50 Trade Value:

Kenneth Faried (putting up 9/7, same age as Serge...)
Batum
Noah
Pekovic

Players ranked behind Serge, but in Top 50 Trade Value:

Hibbert
Josh Smith
Millsap
Gallinari
Varejao
Gortat
Curry
Harden

Not sure what makes Serge a more valuable piece than any of those guys, unless you really buy into "potential" and "hasn't been extended yet".

Serge is worth more than Pekovic. Let's not make a conclusion on a small sample size.

Varajeo's contract. I don't even know Curry's value given his injuries. Josh Smith's contract is all kinds of bad.

The rest I don't agree with. Especially Gortat. Great contract and easily better player. Harden and Batum are also 2 guys who should easily be ahead.

The $272,015 Microcosm

Perfectly sums up the mediocre management of the Warriors by the new owners..

Excerpt on cutting Lin

The Warriors’ role in the Jeremy Lin saga has been much discussed, including at RealGM. However, one underreported part of the story has been why the Warriors made the move. Since Lin was cut during the offseason, a few different rules applied to his departure.

First, it could not have been done for roster size purposes since those limits do not apply during that portion of the offseason. As such, the move was done for personnel evaluation and/or salary purposes. At first glance, that makes some since because Golden State justified the move as one part of clearing the space to make an offer sheet for DeAndre Jordan. At first glance, Lin’s $762,195 salary goes a long way to making a better offer for the Clippers’ big man. The problem with this logic (which has not been discussed) is that since the Warriors were under the minimum number of roster spots, the NBA has a provision that a salary cap hold stays on the books for the minimum salary for each spot where there is not a player under contract. As such, the actual gain in salary flexibility for the Lin move is the difference between his salary and the cap hold: $272,015. That amount of money is pocket change in a contract offer, even to a notoriously frugal owner in Donald Sterling.

What’s more, the decision to waive Jeremy Lin came before the first team practice after a prolonged lockout that left players in dramatically different places physically due to the time off. The organization knew Lin was an extremely hard worker who was dedicated to making a career in the NBA. It would follow that an extended summer of time, clear knowledge of his correctable flaws, and a fierce desire to improve them would yield a better player than the one they saw on the court the previous season. So of course they coupled this hack job of a move on a contract the Clippers did not even wait a full week to match with delaying the signing of rookies Klay Thompson and Jeremy Tyler (both for cap hold purposes related to Jordan) while the team had a small window of practices to develop and analyze their talent.

Unsurprisingly, the Clippers matched the offer and the Warriors never used the minimal cap flexibility the Lin, Thompson, and Tyler decisions gave them since they are still under the salary cap (even after overpaying for Kwame Brown). The other problem here as it relates to management is that Warriors’ brass seems unwilling to have anyone take blame as being the person who made this decision- that may be one of the “benefits” of having too many cooks in the front office kitchen, yet it illuminates problems of accountability and leadership.

Serge is worth more than Pekovic. Let's not make a conclusion on a small sample size.

What's gonna happen? Is Pek gonna stop being a beast and lose his touch around the basket? I'd take Pek over Serge everyday. Shot blocking 4's with no offensive game aren't that valuable.

Aw man, I just checked the schedule and it looks like that was the only time we play you guys this year. Shame, I'd love to play the Knicks every game. I'd have really liked to have one of our final 5 games to be against the Knicks, so I could watch our sandbaggin' bench demolish ya'll as you fight for a playoff spot against the dreaded Cleveland Cavaliers and Milwaukee Bucks.

Guess thats the season sweep tho!

I'd agree. Ibaka is great defensive help but man on man can be dominated. He doesn't have a great post up game and scores a lot of points based on the fact that people are focused on Durant and YNB more than everyone else.

Pek will score more points, get more rebounds and bring a tough physical presence in the paint.

Pau Gasol, Steve Blake, Jason Kapono and Troy Murphy to Houston for Luis Scola, Goran Dragic, Hasheem Thabeet, Marcus Morris, Chase Budinger and New York's 2012 first-rounder (wtf no lowry no dice)

I'd hit it (even w/o Lowry). Frees up a ton of money to get rid of Pau's contract and gives the team more cap flexibility, but still keeps things open for 2years from now when Kobe comes off the books for a full rebuild. Trading Pau for another star player isn't likely, i'd have no problem breaking his contract up like this. In the short term, potentially gives us some depth. In the long term, gets us out from under Pau's $20 million a year deal. Plus that NY pick might be a top 10.

I kinda stopped making gifs , i'm not special anymore with sunhi around, that dude can churn those things out.

did you enjoy reading through my meltdown with the Deron trade?

didn't get that far, but it was funny reading comments by people who watched jazz games (i used to watch a lot of them, jeff, you, IWMTB) wondering how long it wsa until deron asked for players to be shipped out. It was the season where the jazz couldn't win a first quarter at all. I think the jazz lost 27 of their first 35, first quarters.

It seems we'll soon be getting news that Gasol has been traded. No details confirmed, but he's apparently gone.

uhhh....

Roland Lazenby
Considering the Chris Paul fiasco, it's good to remind that nothing is official. Only whispers, but it's a whispering NBA world these days

Adrian Wojnarowski
Houston has continued to aggressively probe the Lakers on a potential Pau Gasol trade, but there's no deal close, league sources tell Y!

Alex Kennedy
I just talked to several executives and nobody has heard about an imminent Pau Gasol trade.

Alex Kennedy
With that said, @lazenby is very credible. Maybe word will spread over the next few hours. We'll see what happens next.

Hollinger posted 8 trades today:

Ramon Sessions and Daniel Gibson to Portland; Jamal Crawford and Greg Oden to Minnesota; Luke Ridnour, Anthony Tolliver and $3 million to Cleveland

Craig Brackins and a second-round pick to Sacramento for J.J. Hickson

Boris Diaw for Lamar Odom and $2 million cash (lol)

Rajon Rondo and Brandon Bass to Indiana; Darren Collison and Josh Smith to Boston; Jermaine O'Neal and Roy Hibbert to Atlanta

Ray Allen and Trevor Ariza to the Clippers; Chris Kaman and Eric Bledsoe to Boston; Chris Wilcox, Randy Foye, Ryan Gomes, Chauncey Billups, and Brian Cook to New Orleans

Pau Gasol, Steve Blake, Jason Kapono and Troy Murphy to Houston for Luis Scola, Goran Dragic, Hasheem Thabeet, Marcus Morris, Chase Budinger and New York's 2012 first-rounder (wtf no lowry no dice)

Jeremy Pargo, Sam Young and $1 million to Boston for Keyon Dooling

Michael Beasley, Daniel Orton, Justin Harper, Anthony Randolph and Orlando's first-round pick to Milwaukee; J.J. Redick, Beno Udrih and the rights of Fran Vazquez to Minnesota; Jon Brockman, J.J. Barea and Ersan Ilyasova to Orlando

I read all 8 trades and my first thought to each trade was "meaningless and completely asinine...doesn't help any team involved very much at all"

You also said Biggie was better than Pac which is like saying O.J mayo was better than Brandon Roy.

Biggie is a much better lyricist than Pac...that's not debateable.

Pac is one of the greatest rap artists (in terms of the quality of his overall songs / albums). but as a pure MC / lyricist...there's no question

spurs are nothing without parker. i see hes still mad the 8th seed kicked his teams ass last season.

You really wanna play the "he still mad" card with a guy whose franchise has 4 rings during the same time your franchise was the joke of the league under Isiah Thomas?
