Wow I don't think I ever seen a digital buy one get one before. I think I'll be biting on some of these games this Sunday. Thanks for the heads up.

Edit:

Is it me or did Amazon.com change? It looks different.

Depends on what browser you're using. Open Amazon in IE8+ and then Chrome.

Yeah we're testing it out. Basically the way we've got it set up is that, when you buy one of these games for $4.99 we're dropping a $5 credit for any of the games listed into your account which will auto-redeem, so you just checkout again with whatever game you want and you'll get it for free.

We're currently running some tests on the look and feel of the site...did you go to the homepage and check out our sweet Mass Effect 3/MLB 2K12 graphic? The guy I share an office with, Tim, worked really hard on that :).

Cheers,
Tony

AC2 definitely won't make it into the mix but Far Cry 1 just passed QA, the rub is that it has some issues with 64 bit systems, so if you are using one you'll need to do some patching, etc to get it work. If you're on a 32 to bit system you're money tough.
32-bit guy here. :D Thanks for the reply man!

I just wanted to say how fucking awesome Amazon is. They just gave me a code to download Mirror’s Edge, Dead Space, Dragon Age: Origins or Mass Effect because the Mass Effect 2 installer didn't work properly.

I actually own all of those games, so the first person who replies to this post can have it.

I'll take it! I'd love Mirror's Edge.

I'll take ME/DA origins?

So does that mean you can't play Mass Effect 2? Or did they fix the problem and give you your choice of code for your trouble?

They offer an installer but they also give you the code to redeem at Origin. I downloaded the installer and it failed but I was able to activate the code in Origin and download and install from there. This was all the Friday prior to launch so it didn't effect whether I could play the game.

They gave me the code to make up for the inconvenience. They always do stuff like that if they make a mistake.

Edit: Oh, and it was Mass Effect 3. Typo in my first post.

Well that was pretty frickin' awesome of them.

Not that I would expect them to do something like that for me if I had a problem. But hearing stories like that makes me more & more inclined to buy games through Amazon. It seams like they're willing to go out of their way to fix any problems that might come up with an order. As a customer, I really couldn't ask for more.

Tony, you guys need to carry the first Mass Effect. I've been wanting to get into the series for a while, but have to wait on a Steam sale.

Nevermind, I could've sworn you didn't carry it last time I checked!

Damn I love Amazon. Just got a code for a free game cuse the installer may have given me probs. <3 Amazon.

I think this got noted but want to make sure everyone knows this was in response to Mass Effect 3. If you notice some of the reviews it looked like a segment of ME3 purchasers had issues with their games. Both EA and Amazon didn't want to leave a bad taste in customer's mouths, especially the passionate customers who supported us by pre-ordering the game. We both (EA and Amazon) decided that we'd pick 4 pretty cool games to offer as a "sorry to those of you who may have had a problem". We know that not everyone had the issue, but wanted to make sure we covered everyone who possibly could have.

Glad you all thought it was a good call too :)

Is there a way to not use my 10$ credit from pre-ordering ME3 towards the free EA game?

I'd contact CS via chat for a workaround. I'm not sure how to do this with 100% accuracy. Sorry I can't help more :(.

We started carrying it about a month ago, which is probably when you checked last :). It was obviously a priority for us too ;).

Tony, will you guys price match the weekend deal at Gamefly?

Dead Space for $2.99

Yes it is just taking a while for the pricing to catch up.

Cheers,
Tony

Good to know. Can you let us know when a sale on it's coming up? And I'm glad you're matching the Gamefly price, until I get all of the games I paid for back on their service, I'd rather not support them.

Hey Tony, congrats on everything you've achieved so far. You guys are truly making Amazon Downloads something worth trying.

It's great to get DRM-free games, but I'm one of those guys that won't buy any PC game that can't be redeemed in Steam. Since you're experimenting with DRM-free games right now, I wanted to ask something: Could you offer both DRM-free versions of games and Steam keys?

I guess that some companies may think of that as giving two games for the price of one or something, so maybe you could sell two versions of the game: A DRM-free version for those who want it, and a Steam one for guys like me. I realize that this could cause confusion if you put two different download pages and I don't know if it'd be worth the hassle, but I think that way you'd get even more customers.

By the way, yesterday I discovered that there are free demos in Amazon the hard way...
I thought that there was an error or a promotion and I was going to get a free game, I didn't realize it was a demo until I had written my CC info :lol

EDIT: I know that people don't sell Steam games unless they're Steamworks... But what I wonder is if it would be technically possible.

For example, look at games featured in Indie Bundles. They aren't Steamworks, but they give separate codes for each game (for example, in the Indie Royale or Indie Gala). Those games don't appear in this list, so I guess every single developer or publisher could give keys of their games to other sites if they wanted to.

As far as I know, every publisher can generate Steam redeemable keys at no extra cost. I understand that publishers can choose to not give keys to other retailers, but what I want to know is if they could.

You're never going to get a "Steam" version of any game that isn't Steamworks outside of Steam itself. And games that are already Steamworks, Amazon offers.

Damn, $2.99 for dead space is too ridiculously good to pass up.

I feel like I'm cheating on steam :(

I was like this initially when I got Risen for $6, but then i realized i got Risen for $6 (DRM free to boot, though the steam version is also going that route)

Just picked the Divinity II DRM free and $6.

Feels good man.

For some reason I'm having a bit of trouble finding the answer to this question of Google/Amazon help but is it now possible to use Amazon credit towards digital downloads?

I dunno if this is the proper place to ask or not buuuuuuuuut

I never got a code for my preorder items for preordering Mass Effect 3 from Amazon, how do I go about fixing that

What code are you looking for? The Argus Rifle? I'd start by contacting chat support, if that doesn't work PM me so i can escalate internally.

Cheers,
Tony

If you could redeem it on steam, it would say requires steam in the system requirements. It should redeem on Origin like any other EA game I bought before.

Not yet, I figured I'd wait a while before doing so, since I've never really done that before.

How do you suggest I go about it

To contact support, click on "help" in the top right hand side of the screen. That will bring you to a page where you'll see a yellow button midway up on the right side that says "contact us". click that. You'll be prompted to sign in. Then you'll be on a page where you start the support process. I suggest doing it via Chat. The option for that will be on the bottom right of the three options (email, phone & chat).

Oh we can redeem Dead Space 1 on Origin now? I tried to do that 2 months ago and it wouldn't let me. I guess they must have added that to the games that can be reddened. I'll try that out later when I get home.
Yeah, I just copy and pasted my redeem code into Origin and it's downloading now.

Well I was told my complaint would be forwarded to Marketing and Promotions.

Now I play the waiting game I suppose.
