Mass Effect 3 SPOILER THREAD: LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE

The one major quest bug I ran into was indeed that Hanar diplomat mission. Got two terminals but then could not activate the one in the refugee area despite it being pointed out on the map.

And not as much a fan of Garrus as some, I don't dislike him but usually only take him along when I've exhausted other convo trees or for sniper action...which is mooted with Ashley now. Now playing a game where his only presence is to be listed on the memorial wall in the Crew section, see who shows up in his place (like the "oh yeah, that isn't the same Council" when they started speaking, forgot I let them bite it in this ME1/ME2 renegade import).

What platform is this on?

From what I've heard, the PC version is pretty bugged - although I didn't come across many instances myself.

could be awesome

They wouldn't even bother to shop it this time?

I didn't even do it, then talked to the Elcor again and he was all like, "Awesomely: Cheers for saving my peeps, brah."
It was just a fetch quest, so you probably grabbed the item.

Yeah, I've never been able to even find that one. Got the quest, but it doesn't show up anywhere. I was hoping for some combat with elcors.

It's not a quest. It's a scanning mission. You scan, find the Elcor Flotilla, and that's it. There is no combat.

What can be confusing is that you get access to Dekuuna before you are able to get that quest, so if you're a completionist like me you may have already scanned the planet and found the asset. However, this isn't acknowledged at first, so you have to just go click on the Ambassador again, and he'll be like "Thanks!"

Need help, saved Jack in ME2 and romanced her, chose paragon options when I saw her in ME3 in the student academy and allowed the students to stay on the Citadel with my Spectre clearance.

Why haven't I seen or heard from her since?! Where is she, and what can I do to trigger her reappearance?

Also, I found Kasumi Goto again and she said she'd join me. She's not on the Normandy though, is that normal?

Any help on these would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Garrus is "cool" but I eat chicken, they aren't my friends.

Oh god, this reminds me of the funniest thing in the entire series: Walking in on Garrus and Joker in the cockpit having a back and forth with Turian and Human jokes.

Kasumi is never on the Normandy. If you did her mission, she becomes a war asset, and you can talk to her again towards the very end of the game.

I think what bothers me the most about saving the real ending for DLC is that I most likely won't care about the game when its released, I'll be busy playing other stuff. I already unpinned the game from my taskbar.

Kasumi only gets a side mission, and never joins your squad. Jack should send you an email that she is in that club on the Citadel, where you get to talk to her again. She is a minor romance in the game though, so the payoff isnt as big as romancing Liara or Ashley.

Garrus was demoted to "Good Tier"?!?!? Shep and Garrus is the ultimate bromance.

Garrus is God* tier for all the non-battle scenes, but I never enjoyed using him as a party member v. the others for more insightful or enjoyable banter during the missions. I guess that would put him a notch below the ones I enjoyed the most.

Example from ME3 alone being him and Vega going back-and-forth about their exploits, or the Joker jokeoff cited a couple posts back.

Nothing compares to Wrex though. Nothing.

*Not God baby tier, that tier sucks.

GREAT CHARACTERS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN SQUADMATES IN ME3:
Liara
Mordin
Legion
Javik
Garrus
Tali
Samara
Miranda

DECENT CHARACTERS THAT SHOULD HAVE JUST BEEN CAMEOS:
Jack
Thane
Wrex
EDI

MEDIOCRE, DERIVATIVE CHARACTERS THAT I DON’T CARE ABOUT EITHER WAY:
Kasumi
Ashley
James

TERRIBLE CHARACTERS THAT SHOULD NEVER HAVE EXISTED IN THE FIRST PLACE:
Grunt
Kaidan
Jacob
Zaeed

Think the most annoying bug was where Kai Leng fell through the map after the fight, and I had to reload it to try it again.
Omg, if that happened to me after retrying that fight like 50 times and sitting through the stupid unskippable cutscene before every attempt, I would've killed myself.

That is one of the reasons I am not going to play this game on Insanity with an adept again. Never.

Yeah, I would actually pay a lot of monies for DLC on Rannoch or something with unenviroed Quarians. I would literally just pay money to have Bioware model quarian faces. I'm that desparate

When you go to the citadel with garrus and you shoot targets with him it's easily one of the best moments of the game.

Yep that moment was pretty sweet.

On a side note, while I didn't exactly love the James character I didn't mind him all that much. The whole "Loco" thing was pretty hilarious though.

Thanks all for the very speedy responses.

Fair enough, but I did all the things necessary to receive said email from her and nothing has come.

Is it a matter of waiting and doing more missions, or have I messed up somehow?

At least they photoshopped the fingers in that Tali picture...I swear her fingers don't look that fat with gloves on though.

At least the after credits scene didn't end with the old man saying to the kid, "And that's how I met your mother"

I wish it ended with the guy saying "No, that stuff didn't really happen. I had you fooled though didn't I?"

Agreed, along with drunk Tali.

Emergency Induction Tube. Bless her cottons.

Funniest part of the entire game, bar none. I lost it. The drunken slur, the accent, the straw...

On a side note, while I didn't exactly love the James character I didn't mind him all that much. The whole "Loco" thing was pretty hilarious though.

His dialogue options commenting about the other party members when he first met them were pretty much his only saving grace. His awe-drenched "Wrex is a bad ass." line was excellent.

It'd be nice if we got to hear his nicknames for everybody. I think we only hear Cortez's (Esteban), Shepard's (Loco) and Tali's (Sparks).

Hell, Shepard being the catalyst would have been so much better. Shepard sacrifices himself to power the weapon to blow the Reapers to hell, save Earth, no Mass Relays destroyed, every race happy to have a safe future. Bam, end of story. And then, perhaps a special ending where they imply that he survived.

When they started talking about the Catalyst, I was thinking Shepard would end up being the Catalyst and have to sacrifice herself to save everyone. I came closer to being right that I would have liked.

I think the story would have been better without the Crucible. I just wanted to unite all the races and have an epic battle against the Reapers, and more importantly, the battle against the Reapers should fail if you did a crap job preparing for the war.

I'm okay with Shepard dying, but jumping into a giant light to cause whatever the fuck happened was bullshit.

Anybody else a bit disappointed with how easy it is to unite everybody, especially if you go full Paragon (and I'm assuming full Renegade)? I thought it would be a tough choice to choose between the Krogans and Salarians, but then Hackett tells me the Salarians are joining anyways?

The only bug i encountered was getting stuck in Jokers cockpit once.

Multiple times for me to the point where I had to quicksave everytime I approach the cockpit. There were also voice glitches where sound won't play. I missed the infamouse "STEEEEEEVEEEE" because of that.

Of course none of them were as bad the overheat bug that made the Saren fight a pain in the ass to beat.

After readying all the bitching about the endings (while trying not to get spoiled) I decide to sit down today and finish ME3.

Loved it!

That is all.

If you're a renegade, Kolyat explains that Thane wasn't praying for himself, he was praying for you. Thought that was really cool, along with the other mentions of your Paragon/Renegade state in ME3.

oh FFS, I got that response from him. And I imported a 98% paragon save (because of stupid shit in the previous two games giving me renegade points and saving the Rachni queen apparently being Renegade).

Also: third section of TIM was greyed out. I have almost every asset (stupid Kelly got herself killed), full paragon reputation bar, still get bugged. fffff..

On the ending: it feels to me that the extra six months were EA management saying "we want a sequel, make it happen" aka ASUMING DIRECT CONTROL. There is a lot of stuff in ME3 that suggests that this project was time strained, like the journal updating (!) while it doesn't show any updates, store selection having a + sign and so on. The fact that every N7 mission is basically just an MP map with recolored goons from The lair of the shadow broker / Arrival is the other bit.

They appear to have focused on making choices pan out correctly, instead of checking the overall writing consistency. For instance: the game makes a very, very obvious point about why TIM brought Shepard back and HAD TO bring him back: The Prothean Cypher that exists only within Shepard's mind. But it never states that directly, even going out of its way to claim other, nonsense reasons for why he did it. Even when the beacon on Thessia directly shows this link.

I honestly think Thessia is where the changes begin. Kai Leng was probably just supposed to die on the Citadel, before management went into "GIANT FUCKING SPIDER" mode (for those who know the reference).

The rush job that is Mass Effect: Deception is further evidence in that direction. There was no reason to turn Kai Leng into a big villain who for some reason should beat Shepard at every turn, until a change was made to change to do so. The Human Reaper for instance, shows up in the IM base for no apparent reason and doesn't do anything. Some of the vids there have no response and are just there to get all 'muahahaha' on you.

Honestly, that mission and 'boss fight' (that remark about the legs... how would Shepard even know about that?) felt like they were cut and paste from ME2, just to stretch the story a bit and move the citadel one missions later (horizon was pretty much stand alone anyway).

The fact that the art book has a mutated form for TIM, suggests as well that TIM was supposed to be the boss, not Kai Leng. It also makes more sense, since Harbinger would simply be able to repeat Sovereign from ME1, but a little different.

Basically: TIM shoots himself or you shoot him > ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL, or having him stand behind you (sans sigaret) when you are lifted upwards.
No space deity / super AI required, Harbinger simply stating that there is no choice and telling you why the reapers exist, and so on.

That would have created a lot of minor questions, like why Harbinger wouldn't just destroy the Citadel, but that could have been caught by the 'destroy' ending or other dialogue. Sure, it would have been harder to understand for new players (which is probably why the current endings exist), but it would have been far more satisfying.

The other thing is of course Drew Karpyshyn leaving Bioware right before release of "his" series. Which should be a rather obvious sign of how and when these things (the changes in story) went down. Assuming it's true, that is.

if the 'indoctrination' theory is correct and we end up with a DLC ending, maybe we'll actually get that TIM boss fight instead of the Saren retread we ended up with. I remember playing that I was like "are you fucking kidding me", then when shepard started going up on that elevator to heave--er, the catalyst, I stopped taking the game seriously.
