according to the gw2 twitter page, they said the end of march beta is still happening for those who signed up during the 48 hour period (not everyone of course just the lucky chosen few from their random draw) and the betas after april 10th and leading up to release are for all the people who will preorder on april 10th

There we go. Good!

I was honestly looking at the GW2 Soundtrack. Music is extremely important to me so while the statue will be pretty sweet, I can't wait to listen to some epic music.

lol I just noticed this:

Town slideshow?
Frame-rate issues during press beta.

Good...for those who get in.

I'm upset, but also happy.

Pre-purchasing becoming the new pre-order standard? At least the release seems to be before Diablo

I think it's referring to digital pre-orders at full price. I mean, it makes sense for Guild Wars, but it's still kind of sad to see "feelies" like maps and huge manuals going the way of the dinosaur.

What do you mean?

It seems to be like if you buy the game from ANet you'll be paying in full when you do it, instead of just pre-ordering and paying when the game is released. I'd imagine you'll still be able to do a normal pre-order from stores and places like Amazon, but you'll only get 1 day head start if you don't pre-purchase.

Most of the MMOs I've bought directly from the developer in the past couple years have pre-purchase.

I always fully pay when I bother pre-ordering so no biggie for me. Wohoo! with a pre-order date officially set we should find out the release date by April :)

This is the case with most digital download games, I believe. On both Steam and what was formerly Direct2Drive, you would have to pay full price when you pre-ordered.

Ahh, didn't know this was the case with most digital games.

I still game on my 360, last PC game I got was BF3(amazon DD) and then OrangeBox (retail) before that.

I would like to know if people who pre-purchase at other retailers, say Gamestop or Steam, will have beta access as well, and how exactly they are doing that.

I am allowing myself to get hyped now with the pre-order info. Surely that means this is a real game that will actually have a release date. Fuck yeah. Can't wait.

How many new PC games these days have "Intel HD 3000" in their system requirements?

That $150 CE... so awesome, but I don't know if I can justify spending that much money. Too bad the DD version only contains digital bonuses.

Digital Deluxe seems like a waste, unless you really care for some exclusive pet.

Pre-order and you get a key?

First impression:
-Collectors edition is way too expensive; very hard to justify the purchase.
-Digital deluxe just looks like a "cash shop test run". Half of what you get is limited use anyways (except for the mini, but that's what I have Hall of monuments rewards for). The storage Golem sounds convenient but... for only 5 days? :( I guess the elite could be pretty cool, but who knows how it'll turn out.

I will likely be sticking to the standard edition.

The way I read it, is "If you preorder from us, 3 day head start. If you order from other retailers, 1 day head start." Anyone else?

I'm really disappointed with the digital deluxe and collectors editions. Digital deluxe has 3 temporary items which I consider fairly worthless, a minipet which is pretty useless especially with the minipets I get from HoM, and an exclusive elite skill which I don't think should be there in the first place. Collector's edition certainly has some nice stuff in it, but $150 worth? Nah.
I'll most likely go vanilla, something I never thought I'd be saying considering the thousands of hours I spent in GW1. But if I go for the others it'll be the digital deluxe. Idk if it's worth the $20 though.

So we know the beta weekends are not going to start until the weekend of the 13th/14th of April at the earliest, then. Sounds good.

I'll probably pre-purchase the digital deluxe. Sell me your digital baubles, mm-hm. I'll pass on the CE though.

The open beta's to the pre-buyers will be after the 10th yes. The closed invite beta will still be at the end of March.

Sounds like it's pre purchase (pay in full) is the 3 days and pre-order (put money down) is 1 day

What do I get with a Pre-Purchase of the game?
Customers who pre-purchase the game in full will enjoy guaranteed access to our Beta Weekend Events, three-day Headstart Access to the final game, and five digital items designed to enhance your gameplay experience.

What if I don’t want to pay in full in advance?
In addition to Pre-Purchase, a number of our retail partners are offering a Pre-Order program. Customers who pre-order will receive one-day Headstart Access to the final game.

When do Beta Weekend Events (BWEs) start, and how many will there be?
The first BWE is currently planned for late April, and we expect to have one every month or so. The schedule is subject to change and will be confirmed at a later date. Currently, we do not know how many of these events we will have.

Is Pre-Purchase the only way to get into Guild Wars 2 Beta Weekend Events?
Pre-Purchase is the only guaranteed way to get into all Beta Weekend Events. We will also be running promotions for access to individual Beta Weekend Events.

I already signed up for the Guild Wars 2 Beta. Do I need to Pre-Purchase?
If you want to get guaranteed access to all Beta Weekend Events, yes, you must Pre-Purchase. Simply signing up for the Beta does not guarantee access to the Beta Weekend Events.

Which products are available for Pre-Purchase?
Customers will be able to Pre-Purchase the Guild Wars 2 Digital Edition and the Guild Wars 2 Digital Deluxe Edition directly from NCsoft. In addition to the digital products, certain retailers will also be offering physical Pre-Purchase of the Guild Wars 2 Standard Edition and the Guild Wars 2 Collector's Edition.

How does physical Pre-Purchase work?
Physical Pre-Purchase for Guild Wars 2 is only available at select retailers. The details of how this will work will differ slightly depending on which edition customers purchase and where they purchase it.

Standard Edition (North America) — Customers will buy the Standard Edition Pre-Purchase box and receive a Pre-Purchase serial code. They will then go to https://register.guildwars2.com and follow the on-screen instructions to create a Guild Wars 2 account and apply the serial code, which will give them access to Beta Weekend Events and three-day Headstart access to the final game. When Guild Wars 2 launches, customers will need to return to the retailer with proof of purchase to receive the full Standard Edition box and retail serial code. They will need to apply this retail serial code to their Guild Wars 2 account within five days to continue playing without interruption.

Standard Edition (Europe) — Customers will buy the Standard Edition Pre-Purchase box and receive their serial code. This is the only serial code customers will receive and will grant access to the Beta Weekend Events, three-day Headstart Access, the Hero's Band digital item, and full access to the final live game. Customers will not need to return to retail to receive another serial code.

Collector's Edition (North America and Europe) — Customers will buy the Collector's Edition Pre-Purchase box and receive a Pre-Purchase serial code. They will then go to https://register.guildwars2.com and follow the on-screen instructions to create a Guild Wars account and apply the serial code, which will give them access to Beta Weekend Events and three-day Headstart Access to the final game. When Guild Wars 2 launches, customers will need to return to their retailer with proof of purchase to receive the full Collector's Edition box with physical items and retail serial code. They will need to apply this retail serial code to their Guild Wars 2 account within five days to continue playing without interruption.
