We were promised two seasons of twelve episodes each, correct? I remember they updated it. Wish it was longer.

I don't honestly care if people know
Why, but that was the stance you were taking in our not-an-argument!

segregation of personalities in anything cheapens the experience for me
No one is forcing you to segregate anything. How bizarre.

Didn't I read somewhere that Korra has already mastered the avatar state?

I remember it being one season with 26 episodes.

Using commonly understood phrases to describe the behaviour of a character "cheapens the experience"? OK then... ¬.¬

you fit the character into the tsundere category = cheap
avatar tends to have more diversity in their characters than anime, even the comic relief.

"abrasive behaviour disguising attraction" is much more widespread than just anime. Stop being silly.

Aside from your statement being an amusing generalization, who said anything about anime?

I remember it being one season with 26 episodes.

Really? Then the Book One thing doesn't make much sense. I could've sworn there were two seasons but if someone knows better I'd love to read the official word.

According to Wikipedia, it's a 26 episode order split into two seasons consisting of 12 and 14 episodes respectively.

Sorry, "term".

you're using anime stereotypes to describe avatars characters is why
I thought that much was obvious?

not everyone is weeaboo enough to understand tsunderes and moe, and avatar is too cool for that!

the wikipedia says 2 seasons

1 season with 12 the other with 14 episodes

I demand that episode number to be tripled, at least

They stopped being "anime stereotypes" when non-anime series began using them many many years ago.

I'm starting to think that you honestly believe that anime is the entire extent of Japanese culture and the only place that the tsundere trope can be found. Or perhaps you actually are insecure about the series' influences, but it's not like you've ever shown any signs of--

not everyone is weeaboo enough to understand tsunderes and moe, and avatar is too cool for that!

Too cool for Japanese loanwords™

I have to imagine that if the first season is the smash hit it should be then a third season would be greenlit.

In that case I wouldn't argue him as a tsundere from episode 1. He wasn't attracted to her until -maybe- after the final tournament round. And that is a maybe because the Avatar team likes to shiptease the fans.

For all we know he'll openly express his interest.

And fuck this nonsense debate about the use of the word tsundere. The character type isn't exclusive to anime, and while people may not know the term now, eventually the active participants in the thread will catch on.

Also I really hope Mako doesn't get Korra. I want Bolin x Korra.

Bolorra 4yfe. Who wants to read my fanfic??!!?

Agreed, the guy just seems like the type who is a rude douchebag to everyone besides the select few he decides to let be apart of his life

I mean, the first moment he saw her he thought she was just another one of his brother's floozies. I certainly wouldnt call that attraction

On the subject of ratings and a third season, I'm not inclined to rewatch the first two episodes live. It doesn't matter because I don't have a Neilsen box, correct?

Hidden attraction is often associated with tsunderes but it's not a hard requirement. The wikipedia definition is pretty good.

Wasn't that reserved for the Lin and Korra pairing?

I originally called it LinK but Kolin is pretty good. Dibs.

Correct. Fire wasn't difficult for Aang. He got it pretty quickly, in fact. The issue was that he wasn't mentally ready to handle it and hurt someone in the process. Because of that, he decided not to pursue it until later. It was emotional damage for him. His Earthbending took a lot more time to development and Aang spent a lot of time working with Toph to get it to a good level.

I disagree with this. Kora´s personality is preventing her from air bending at the time being. Aang´s fear prevented him from learning fire bending for a long time. Those are the similarities that i see. The physical barrier can be overcome with training, but unless on does not deal with their spiritual/psychological barriers, they can´t overcome the physical barrier. Which is why i said in the first place that Aang trained harder to obtain earth bending, but it took him much longer to bend fire because of his psyche.

Wow, just saw the second episode.

That. was. AWESOME.

Pro bending is the coolest thing ever
Yep, it was really well thought out sport.

I find it really hard that someone who knows what a weeaboo is to call another person a weeaboo.

I find it really hard that someone who knows what a racist is to call another person a racist.

I find it really hard that someone who knows what a asshole is to call another persona a asshole.

Pretty good logic you got going there.

Aang never became a particularly good earth-bender, iirc, or used it all that often. I wonder if the show will have Korra learn it then relagate it to the backseat as they did in the first series.

desu ne and question mark. I am confus

"This thread is cute, isn't it?" is what was intended, but surely butchered, lol.

But he did bend fire almost immidiately once he found a teacher. He couldn't earthbend in the beginning no matter how hard he tried though. Spiritual and psychological barriers are two different things in that case. Had katara not been there he might have learnt to firebend back then.

In the context of an anime discussion and using loaner words. Seems like the pot calling the kettle black.

There's a hierarchy, yo.

Back OT, the production for this show is amazing. With the HD I noticed so much I hadn't previously, it was nuts.

Yes, there are so many small details I didn't notice at first (i.e when watching the leak). Like when Korra took care of those thugs an propelled that one guy in the air with earthbending. All the little details in his fall, like him trying to grab that banner, were amazing to watch. The korean animators really outdid themselves this time.
That is spiritual masturbation.
That's a nice artwork.

Wait, are you calling me a weeaboo or are you talking about the people who are arguing about that other stuff? I think I might have misunderstood what you were saying, and thought you meant that I was a weeaboo for knowing what it means.
