The Dark Knight Rises (Batman 3) - No Riddler

While I do think it'll be shorter than The Dark Knight, it's next to impossible that they've got a locked in running time for a July big budget picture, in March. The Celebration Cinema link is bullshit, unless you believe that they're in the know about Skyfall and The Hobbit's running time. They'd be the only ones, since both films are still shooting.

The Variety tweet is probably reliable, but there's a big difference between someone who saw a rough cut going "yah, it was a bit over two hours", and an actual official running time. If the film comes in at 130 minutes without credits (and I doubt those would be factored in at this stage), then it's the same length as Batman Begins.

In other words, I'd be shocked if in June the official running time didn't come in at 140 plus; whether or not that's a good thing is up to you.

If y'all remember, Inception had a reliable "running time leak" at this stage as well..in fact it might have come from Leo himself. It was reported to be "around two hours". Came in at 2 and a half a few months later.

Good stuff. 2hrs 10 mins is a perfect run-time for this.
Bullshit. This movie should be 17.5 hours long with no intermissions, grown geeks pissing themselves, homeless people complinenting everyone on their coats, asians who are good with numbers doing taxes for everyone, tangerine screwdrivers served to all guests, and goats running amok in the theaters.

While I agree wholeheartedly with you, my only point is that people shouldn't really be reacting to news on the run time yet, whether for good or for ill. It's way too early for this to be locked, the Variety comment is ambiguous and at best refers to a second hand report of a rough cut, and the Celebration Cinema's link is random placeholder bullshit.

Edit: Plus, Pfister said the script for this one was massive, and Nolan was trying to cut it down. If the plot really was that dense, I could see it being cut to the lengths of the previous two films, but no further...especially if his previous work is any indicator.

Agreed 100%. I too was being whimsical. No way Nolan is done editing and there's certainly no way a runtime can be predicted as of today.

MAJOR SPOILER about the ending from AICN:

It turns out that Bruce Wayne was dreaming about being Batman.

Never has this been more appropriate:

Of course the length alone does not dictate the quality of a movie but with Batman movies I want them to be longer!

But 2hrs 10 min is enough time to tell a great story.

Still seems strange that we just went from screening to WB Execs of the rough to cut to exact time for final cut already.

Earlier rumor 100% confirmed. This is for real, not another "LOL" rumor that have been being posted the last couple pages.

Now, with Wrath of the Titans coming out this Friday, Warner Bros. Pictures themselves have confirmed that he'll be seen again in Christopher Nolan's final Batman movie. The production notes for that movie say: "Neeson next appears in Peter Berg's actioner "Battleship," and he also will be seen in Christopher Nolan's much-anticipated action thriller "The Dark Knight Rises." We have included Neeson's full bio from the production notes below so you can see for yourself.

Those idiots are the ones who put it out there. The fuck were they thinking? Maybe they don't intend for this to be shocking. Could be in the next trailer or something.

Unless
he is still alive and survived that crash, this is not really a spoiler of anything. Most people expected a flashback to Ra's and im sure this is exactly what that is

Oh jeez. This thread needs to go to the Community section and die. I will not be tempted in here and I certainly won't highlight those spoilers. Must...resist...

It's a huge spoiler since it pretty well also confirms Talia and the LoS. It will for sure be flashbacks. No way he survived or anything like that. If you are the type who only watches trailers and don't involve yourself in these talks, there is a very slim chance you expect him to be in this at this point. Granted, you're probably not in this thread either.

Haha, I guess it doesnt surprise me since I assumed all of that since way back. Still makes me hyped for it.

This isn't really a new confirmation.
Neeson himself said he'd be in the movie a couple months ago while he was doing press for The Grey.

MUST RESIST MUST RESIST MUST RESIST

I wish the non spoiler version of this thread was alive and well. But no one posts non spoilerish news in there.

I was kinda surprised to not see the TDKR trailer with Hunger Games. They had Avengers, Spiderman, Snowwhite and the Huntsman, but no TDKR.

Marketing really seems low key still :(

I'm kinda glad, Hunger Games was so bad. Bringing a TDKR Trailer down to a movie of that level is like bringing Gotham's white knight and lowering him to our level

Are you twelve?

lol, oh man should of put /sarcasm

I actually got the TDK trailer attached to Hunger Games(saw it in AMC IMAX) Anyways, the crowd gave a loud pop for DKR and Avengers. Spiderman got a few boo's and Titanic/Twilight loud boo's

Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssss.
Glad the rumor about him filming scenes was true after all. Kinda silly of them to announce it in a press release for a completely different movie though.

All depends if it is supernatural or a flashback. If he goes for the former all bets are off for the plot and ending.

According to a SHH source, the cut shown to execs was closer to 3 hours.

Deal with it, Solo.

But that would be the rough cut. I doubt WB has any say in the final cut, unless it really is 3 hours long but 2hrs and 10 min is still likely. Does seem quick to be in its final time format.

They didn't cut off 40-50 mins in a little over a week. The dude who posted it on SHH has been legit since Batman Begins with info.

I hope there are more special features whenever this comes to bluray than the previous movies had. I want a Chirstopher, Jonathan, and Goyer commentary track damn it!

This should be spoilered, as shown. Even if you're hinting around it, spoiler tag it.

I know Chris will never do one, he hates them. Only reason he did them in the past was because the studio told him to.

Goyer actually did a BD-Live commentary on TDK. He revealed that before they even started writing TDK, Chris came to Jonah and him with the ending (Batman sacrifices himself and takes the blame for crimes he didn't commit) and told Jonah and Goyer to come up with a story that fits that ending lol.

Probably even had the Gordon speech with him too and Goyer was like "the fuck, why would he say this to his kid." and then Nolan reached into his pocket, took out a wad of cash and said "It's more than a hundred thousand dollars, David."

Lame about Nolan not liking them. I'll have to check out that BD-live one though, never looked at any BD-live features, always figured they were worthless. Working backwards from the end isn't bad, they could have done it the Casey Hudson way.

They're pretty much all lame on the TDK BD, only thing worthwhile is Goyer's BD Live commentary. Although it starts getting desynced toward the end (at least for me), so he's talking about stuff that happened 5 mins ago.

As likely as a Bond film crossing the billion dollar mark.

Fuck me, signing up for a BD live account is a pain in the ass. Thought I could just go form the disc. Fuck no.

EDIT: And just finding the features is a pain. Just terrible.

Lol at that spoiler
I was always pretty sure about that since the teaser... I don't think it needed that warning :P. Now, where's my Cillian Murphy confirmation!?!??!

Tell it to Solo or Sculli and see if they think it's a spoiler. I double dare you.

Casting spoiler
We even got confirmation that a young Talia Al Ghul will be in the film awhile ago, right?

Yes.
The little girl playing her said it. And as someone else pointed out, Neeson already spoiled this while promoting The Grey. Fucking people don't know how to keep shit a secret.

Alright. Do they remove feature from BDlive, 'cause I am not fucking seeing this commentary. Lame.

EDIT: Nevermind. Found it. It's under "Express Yourself". BDLive is truely terrible. There is also a weird ass typed out Q&A thing that goes over the movie with Nolan. Not sure who is asking the questions, if it's fans or what. Didn't read the full description. Kind of weird.

EDIT 2: Seriously, fuck BDLive. I don't know if it's my player or what, but the Goyer commentary keeps like skipping to the next chapter after a few minutes. Seems interesting too, so that sucks. Have to try it on a different player when I get a chance. Why is this not just on the disk?
