He'd be picked up, but they wouldn't be able to charge or convict him of anything. Assuming that the TTT boss did not do anything while bolin was in his employment, and they found evidence of a crime he did a week ago, how could Bolin possibly be an accessory to something that happened before he joined the gang. Also, as a guard and mafia boss, he knows not to physically resist the police (or atleast if he's a competent crime lord), so they went to pick him up, he'd likely come on his own and get his lawyers to fight the legal battle for him. Bolin could plausibly deny involvement and avoid getting processed altogether. The ONLY way that Bolin could get in trouble over this is if he was doing something illegal that specific night with Bolin guarding him. Otherwise, there is no crime for him to be an accessory to.

Good, we're getting somewhere. Now if Bolin was working as the maid or gardener in the house when the police came by, would he be picked up by the police?

It's nice that you ignored the rest of that post where I pointed out that he likely wouldn't get picked up if the TTT guy went along quietly, like he should. The only way this could possibly happen if the guy isn't doing anything illegal is if Bolin starts the fight with the police himself.

As for your question, yes, he could easily be picked up as well if the police suspect bolin know something about his boss' illegal activies if he is his gardener or something. Police can arrest you pretty easily, they just have to suspect you of something. So who really cares if he is arrested? What matters is if they can charge him with a crime. And then they have to convict him. Otherwise, he just walks out, none the worse.

Because all that stuff is pointless suppositions. The fact that he was there working as security in a criminal organization is grounds enough to pick him up. The fact that a murder victim was walking down a dark alley at night or a robbery victim lives in a nice neighborhood is not grounds for them to be murdered or robbed. Bolin isn't innocent like that.
 
I don't understand why everyone is acting like Bolin was doing illegal stuff to get picked up. They probably realized he was a bender and regardless of whether he was good or bad they hated him for it.

More or less (though I'd probably rearrange the first four) the same for me. Though when I rewatched with awareness that people shipped the show, I started noticing things I hadn't before. It's a disease.

You are getting a couple things wrong.

Bolded: He is not. You keep presuming that a crime is happening with no basis for it whatsoever. If an artist hires a gardener, the gardener is not part of the artistic community because he works for the artist. Bolin was hired to protect the guy as a citizen as far as he knew, not to cover up any crimes. Even if there is a crime going on, Bolin seems entirely ignorant of it, and that makes him innocent of being an accessory. If the police had come upon the situation, they might have taken him in on suspicion, but if they tried to charge him with anything, it'd fall flat.

You've also got the original comparison skewed. Your saying that if TTT guy was doing something illegal and bolin was gaurding him knowing that he was doing that, which si not the same as a person in a dark alley. Which, yeah, I'll agree with. That's not whats happening though. Bolin is just guarding this guy who, as far as he knows, has committed no crimes while he was in his service. Then the Equalists come and are about to mutilate him.

Bolin is as innocent as a person who gets stabbed in a dark alley, because he is being assaulted simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, having committed no crime whatsoever. He shouldn't have been there, but that doesn't make him guilty of any wrongdoing. Bolin was assaulted because he was working security for a criminal bender organization. He was not picked up randomly off the street because he was a bender. If a rival gang came to start a turf war they would have attacked Bolin. If the police come by for a raid, they would have picked Bolin up. It doesnt matter whether or not the mafia boss had commited some new crimes in the hours that Bolin was there. That's what happens to henchmen of mobsters, it's part of the small print in the job description Bolin should looked over instead of only seeing the dollar signs. An innocent murder or robbery victim isn't like that.

Well given Nick seemingly likes the small episode batches now so i think the creators can create a new problem for the characters to deal with in the city (after that they might have to leave the city though).

my guess is that it's not actually forbidden, but some posters feel uncomfortable about it (which, hey, is kind of understandable), and one person is 'threatening' to pm a mod about this. Make of that what you will.

I was being charitable and assuming that he was trying to make a bad joke of some sort, but if he was serious about crying to the mods because people are rooting for characters to get together then he is one sad little snitch.
 
Seriously, shipping is fine when the writers themselves are writing/hinting it, like they did in the first season. You have Tenzin children teasing Korra about it in this ep and a bunch of other stuff happen between Mako and Korra. Blame the writers on the show for teasing it.

There is no evidence for it. You may as well presume a great number of things if your not going to wait until evidence indicates it. Aang regularly cheated on Katara with Sokka. Azula went on to become the Mother Theresa of the avatar world and ascending into heave. Amon is actually Cthulhu. And so on. After all, there's no evidence AGAINST it, so there is no reason not to presume it's true, right?

Sure they are, it's just a difference in motivation on part of the assaulter.

They didn't actually assault bolin because he was working security, they assaulted him because him working security for the criminal mastermind indicated far more nefarious activities. In this case, they were wrong, because bolin didn't do anything of the sort, and simple security to the TTT guy isn't a crime of any kind.

In the instance dark alley analogy, the only thing that doesn't translate exactly is the motivation of the assaulter. So lets say the assaulter was recently robbed and the person walking the dark alley happens to look like them. With this, the situations are perfectly analogous. The assaulter has reason to assume that the person is the rightful target for their retribution, even though they're wrong, and the only reason they are getting at them is because they are in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I don't push shipping, nor find it interesting, but people should be allowed to talk about it. If it bothers you, then ignore it and bring up alternative topics of discussion.

I'm doubtful this community wants to become fragmented, and tabooing topics not everyone wants banned is a sure way to that end. Let em ship; it's harmless enough.

Actually, the Equalists goons are probably going to take a nose dive when the main characters get more combat experience or ones with experience enter the fray. Mako, Bolin, and Korra know how to bend but that doesn't mean they can fight as well as they could. If you remember back to the team's encounters with Ty Lee during TLA's run, they got their butts kicked by her the first few times they fought but gradually learned to deal with her as the show went on. I suspect the same will happen to these equalists.

And on the shipping issue, out of hand stuff = bad. Light comments about it when the show pokes it or whatever is fine. DO NOT NEED PICTURES.

This is a problem with all shows.
Villian's power levels stay roughly even (besides random power ups) while hero's power levels sky rocket when needed.
Avatar isn't to bad with it, since they'll still probably get beat up a lot, even when they win, but they'll get stronger and the bad guys won't.
 
Of course they should be allow to talk about it, it's in the show because it's the writers intention to tease the character's possible relationships. If there wasn't any shipping teasing then I would find it understandable why it shouldn't be talked. But it's there folks, you just gotta deal with it.

YOU keep presuming the TTT boss and Bolin weren't engaged in any illegal activity. There is no evidence for or against that. I keep saying that it doesn't matter whether or not they were engaged in illegal activity at that moment.

Poor analogy. You're comparing on the individual level while this is an organization level. A proper analogy would be if the assaulter was recently robbed by the TTT then strolled up to the TTT headquarters and shot the first henchman of the TTT that he saw, say Bolin, who's only been there 5 mins and hadn't done anything 'criminal' yet. Well then them's the breaks for Bolin as he's representing the organization at that moment. Now I don't actually agree that Amon should be taking matters into his own hands and be going around delivering vigilante justice. However Bolin as a member of TTT security group, even if only for 5 mins, is a target. A random person on the street who looks like a bender isn't a target

So there's been some debate in the Linorra fandom about who should be on top; most scenarios seem to involve Korra taking the initiative which just seems completely out of character to me. She's been very skittish about romance and bodily contact thus far, probably a product of her isolated upbringing.
