They are dragging it until the contratic of exclusivity expires and they can release it on xbox360 /conspiracy keanu

What is really funny is that there are lots of people out there who bought a PS3 mainly for this game and The Last Guardian.lol

Yeah, Sony's lawyers drew up a contract that says "you agree this game will be PS3 exclusive unless it releases after 2012, at which point we don't care"

I'm not convinced Type 0 will ever release here. I imagine it will only be worth their time and money if they can rerelease it as a Vita port in Japan, and we all know how the Vita is doing there.

Oh God. Don't remind me.

It'll be pretty funny to have a thread where we all chronicle how much has happened in our lives since Versus was announced if it's ever released. I was only midway through secondary school (I guess that would be the end of middle school in the US) back in summer 06. Now I'm finishing up my second year of University.

Sony needs to secure this for their Ps4, if they haven't. They would have a possible AAA exclusive in its early days. If this game will end up on the Ps3, it'll likely be during its twilight.

Same goes for Agent if that still exists, a Rockstar game would be fine ammunition as well.

Well, in the interview in the Type-0 Ultimate the director confirmed they're working on an overseas version... of course no timeframe was given.

Surely they aren't that stupid. Final Fantasy X sold well here... didn't it?

AFAIK, it sold 6m++ worldwide. Plus it's pretty much loved in Japan.

I'm not surprised, but still, that's sad news.

Will it ever come out? I mean, while we're still alive. XD

Like a lot of other people, I can't believe there's still hasn't been a damn thing since that trailer early last year. That fucked up project has to be holding down other things, right? Thank God we got Osaka team for KH...

If XIII taught me something, it's that longer dev cycle and aiming for "perfection" or whatever isn't always for the better. While seriously less polished and lackluster in some parts, I found XIII-2 to be a much, much better experience. As in, actually fun.

Not that i care but do we know if Sony actually made an exclusive deal for this game?I find it hard to believe tbh.

I will. Will be better then this game that isn't real.

You all can spend your time waiting for a game that will take forever to come out and then probably be disapointing. I'll enjoy something that actually has a chance at release.

I'll spend my time playing other games that are better than XIII-2-3-4, you know.

Even if they did, there's no real reason to think it differed in any fashion from whatever agreement they had about XIII.

Given how much CG they're suggesting this game has, if Versus does actually ever come out on 360, then it will no doubt be a technical mess just like XIII, and the 360 sales of XIII were weak to begin with. If Versus remains a PS3 exclusive then I would guess that it simply was too cumbersome to port it, not that it was a contractual agreement.

Supposedly there's not that much CG in Versus still... is there? Didn't they say they had a 7:3 ratio from real time to pre-rendered scenes?

Almost 1 CG video per 2 in-engine scenes. That's... absurd amounts of CG. Higher than XIII.

XIII-2, which was multiplat, had like 4 or 5 total.

"Wait until E3, and then we'll see something!"
E3 passes, no vXIII.
"Well E3 doesn't matter, wait until TGS and then we'll see something!"
TGS passes, no vXIII, Nomura tells the fans to look at something else non-vXIII related.

I wonder how many more repetitions of the cycle we'll see before the game actually gets released?

The only way I can forgive this is if they're trying to create a world as large as FF7's with FFXIII's graphics. If they do that, I can wait. That's the only thing I can think of that would require this much time.

FFX sold amazingly well here.

This is what confuses me. The western audience counts for a much larger proportion of sales for Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts titles. KH 3D is two months away and hasn't been getting any localised trailers, previews or anything. The original sold around 5.6 million copies with the US and Europe accounting for 4 million of that amount. Yet what information fans do know about KH 3D comes from Japanese press. It just doesn't make sense how S-E handles their IPs in the west these days.

The only people that care about Versus these days are the core fans. I imagine holding on to XIII's number will only harm the prospects of the title in the eyes of the wider gaming public that don't know anything about the game. Look how the negative mindshare over XIII contributed to the diminishing returns on XIII-2. A rebranding is a must if S-E aren't completely stupid.
oh wait

It's not like FFVII's world is that big. Even most of the towns are super tiny.

I was talking to someone about that quite recently... the amount of KH3D promotion really pales compared to say... Sleeping Dogs. There was a time when KH was bigger than Final Fantasy in America... that time is now long over :(
