On the other hand, it could be turned into a Battlefield type game fairly easily. Obviously it would be fluffy and stylized, but that's not the worst thing in the world either.

Count me in.

I'll give you the same over-dramatic response I gave to someone in the Wii U thread. Dudebros don't want to play a game with furries aimed at children.
So the F-Zero universeMaybe it's a reboot which reimagines the animals as manly muscle men?

TV Screen: Main racing actionGritty sandbox action game set in the F-Zero universe where you play as a grizzled Captain Falcon as if it were Batman Arkham City, hunting those bounties to the point where he's basically a full blown vigilante.
Oh and there might be some racing stuff in there somewhere, I can smell the success from here.
Already done with F-Zero, James McCloud is part of the cast of racers as a human.
Am I the only one that would love a new StarFox to resemble the SNES version? Even if its only a level or 2. There is something very charming and strange about StarFox 1 that I can't put my finger on it. I just love the look to the game with odd geometrical shapes resembling enemy ships. Im in the minority but I like StarFox 1 better than than StarFox 64.
The last good starfox was starfox 64. I think EAD did pretty much did everything they could do with the franchise with that game.
YEAH! lets take an amazingly talented developer and let them make some uninspired dude-bro shooter. brilliant ...Retro should be working on a big-budget third person shooter. A new franchise with the pull and prestige of Gears and Uncharted would add hugely benefit Nintendo's roster.
YES. I really love that style for Star Fox. I would really like a new SF with that style and dark tone like the SNES game. Why would i want typical human soldier/sci fi characters over this awesomeness?

This with plenty of cheese, please!
I've been watching vids of Kid Icarus Uprising (cant wait to unwrap it later today), and we are in serious need of more high quality, funny, nonsensical videogame characters.
E3 being a few weeks away doesn't make every random rumor true.Seems credible. We should get these type of leaks close to E3.
Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. I'd welcome a Retro Star Fox, though. No chance in hell Nintendo is wasting Retro on Star Fox. They need a game that sells.
Pretty much. Star Fox doesn't need Retro, it needs EAD to give a shit again.

I'd rather them not to be honest. I don't think there's anywhere they could take the starfox franchise that would legitimately be better than the 64 title.
SF64 was too easy and had too few levels. Ditch the submarine (I like the tank), add harder difficulty settings, and make some truly difficult levels. SF64 was a cake walk even when I was a kid. I loved it, but it was too easy.I'd rather them not to be honest. I don't think there's anywhere they could take the starfox franchise that would legitimately be better than the 64 title.
Play Kid Icarus. It can be done.
Do I trust them to make a fantastic Star Fox game if thats what they're doing? Absolutely!
Like Platinum or whoever wanted to do it.
I think some people are underestimating what Retro could do with a Starfox game.
