Joss Whedon's name won't mean shit after this like Nolan's did after BB and TDK because BB and TDK are dripping with Nolan's unique visual style while Avengers is dripping with generic blandness.

Didn't you claim Avengers was going to do terrible at the box office? But now that it blew up its "obvious" anyone could have directed it and come up with the same result?
Whedon did more than "babysit," just listen or read any of the production articles or podcasts that have come out in the past two weeks. From the vfx supes to the sound editors, they all talk about how much Whedon was involved on this.
Christ people, ease up on the blind fanboying. You're approaching FMT levels of blind hate. And not nearly as entertaining.
Let's see if anyone dares to give Nolan the budget and freedom to do a movie like Inception.
Dude has ridiculous opinions. Nothing new to see here.
He's referring to Ninja Scooter, not me.Remember when he was going to quit posting about The Avengers?
TDK OS total gross: $468,576,467
TA OS gross after 12 days: $441,500,000
OK, it's dripping with generic blandness and a slight touch of oh-so-witty one liner dialogue.well, critics and consumers don't agree.
Who cares about TDKR as far as BO is concerned? We know it's going to make bank. I want to see how Spider-Man does. That's a wild card.

I want Spiderman to tank, just for the slim chance that it might give Disney/marvel the leverage it needs to get the character back.
Never going to happen though....
People will flock to Spider-man in droves after the record-breaking success of The Avengers.
You can bet Sony will pimp out the Marvel logo in every commercial/advertisements to gather more viewers.
Well I hate to be the one to tell you this, but that already happened

Remember? There was like, a hour of exposition because Nolan can only express things through text, and then there was a bunch of poorly-shot action against unimportant fictional dream people. Ring a bell?
It's Spider-Man, it's going to make bank.
That hype will gain once people realize that it's not maguire anymore and it's something new and different.
Then they need to try harder because all I see is a peter in high school getting his powers. Again.
But the most we had ever gotten of a Batman origin before was a short flashback, not an entire movie dedicated to it.And Batman Begins was Bruce Wayne's parents just dying again?
My man, damn straight! Dont listen to the Cameron cock suckers. We all know who the new king is.

Also, speaking to how Inception. How do you 'show' that movie, instead of 'tell' it?

A sequel is already greenlit and has a date.I'm expecting Amazing Spider-Man to perform similarly to Superman Returns.
Meaning it will do okay, but it won't set the world on fire and won't instantly get a sequel greenlit.
But I've been wrong many times before on B.O. matters.

Sure, but this is Spider Man.Green Lantern had a sequel greenlight at one point, didn't it?

Even if it does Superman Returns numbers, Sony will give the green light to shoot just to keep the licence.

Yup, no one had taken the Year One approach.
That's what I liked about 'Begins so much. It was the first live action origin of Batman.
And Batman Begins did not exactly set the world on fire either. It did well enough, but not gangbusters. But it was well received by fans and critics, then you lump in all the buzz and hype for Ledger's Joker and you have a phenomenon on your hands with Dark Knight.
And as for all the Whedon talk and his involvement/non involvement in the film:
It was not Whedon that got people in the theater opening night. it was the superheroes in the movie. Whedon does not deserve credit for people being hyped for that. But it was the stellar job that Whedon did with the opportunity he was given that made people talk about the movie so much after they saw it and why we are seeing such spectacular numbers. It is only because of Whedon's work that the movie is holding strong. He deserves all the credit in the world for delivering a rock solid product and for the repeat business. But not for the initial hype.

You guys seriously thinking that Spider-man will grow stale like the Superman franchise did?
If the Spider-Man franchise starts to cool off, they might be willing to give it back to Marvel/Disney.
