Pokemon Diamond/Pearl boxart !!

pearl isn't a birthstone dude
It's not really a stone at all, actually.

Ironically, however, it is a birthstone.

there were some awesome ones in gold and silver like heracross and scizor but most everything after 151 is dumb and forgettable

Still looks like a GBA game, which is a marginal step up from Ruby/Saph (which looked like GBC games).

They really need to bring the damn world to life.

8094th time that has been said.

It has 3D and displays the greatest graphical improvement between Pokemon sequels ever. There was a comparison thread with side-by-side screenshots to illustrate this.

While a lot of the Pokemon past 151 are...questionable, I've always liked the starters - I'm really looking forward to them revealing the starters in D/P.

I was going to buy a pokemon game in preperation for these as I've never owned one, but last weekend the place I work was throwing out lost property and what do I find.......... pokemon ruby. Started playing and I'm addicted, how many pokemon can I get in it?

There's one major problem with this game. It should be Pearl and Diamond, not Diamond and Pearl. Completely messes the colours up for those who tend to get the second one all the time! I'd prefer Diamond but that totally messes up the scheme of things.

Yes, I do realise how sad this is to moan about.

386

The original 151 are indeed the best, but 152-251 (Gold/Silver) are nearly as good.

Hopefully the next generation of monsters aren't as hit and miss as the Ru/Sa generation.

NERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRD!
;)

Pearl have a water origin (comes from clams) and Diamonds are crushed charcoal which comes from stuff burnt black so you have a point. /nerd

You'd think they'd make the animation of the main character smoother at the very least...

I'm really looking forward to this...And I haven't played any of the GBC/GBA games (except FireRed). I started with R/B/Y, and I'll return with this.

Should I really train up some Pokemon? How will you know which ones won't be bested by the new ones from Pearl/Diamond? Obviously one like Mewtwo will be up there, but what about the others?

I agree. I think the first 151 Pokemon were fantastic, the ones in G/S/C were great but the ones in R/S/E were mostly crap.

I especially want them to develop ghost Pokemon in this version, I want a huge ghost town that only appears at night with loads of secrets and sidequests. :D

I liked the legendaries in RSE, though. Especially Rayquaza and Deoxys.

meh I couldn't even get through the game becasue it was so redudant...hopefully SOMETHING is new in this one.

Well in the past, IIRC, you couldn't control higher level Pokemons well without all the badges. Lvl 50+ Pokemon didn't come until after the last badge in R/B/Y, I thought.

That would completely ruin the game for someone to just tranfer their powerful pokemon over.(for 1st playthrough)
they'd ignore your commands until you had the correct badges

And like in leaf green, you couldn't transfer R/S pokemon until after you beat the elite four, so it wouldn't really break the game, since most of the story driven parts are done by then.

Question: when you play pearl/diamond, are the pokemon from red/blue and gold/silver going to be in it, along with all the new pokemon? If not, does the pokedex start at 001 or like 200-something?

That's true.
I think R/S/E had some of the best legendary quests. I mean the actual process of capturing the legendary Pokemon, especially the Regis with the whole underwater + braille thing.

Ahh man, I hope they add a new version of the Unknowns.
