“I’m absolutely delighted Britney and Demi are joining us,” said Simon Cowell. “Britney remains one of the biggest stars in the world, she’s talented, fascinating – and I believe she knows exactly how to spot THE X FACTOR. So Britney Spears is going to judge people's abilities to sing? She might as well become a Supreme Court judge, she's just as qualified.

They are hoping that she goes crazy again on live TV and takes out a few of the contestants with her.

Or at the very least take them hostage in a prolonged armed stand off with the police all of which will be televised live by Fox News.

Honest question. All I know her for nowadays is going kinda crazy, shaving her head, having a dubstep section in a single and the album not really selling, and now she's on a reality tv show as a judge. That's literally all I know about her from the last 2-3 years. Is she still popular?
 
The sign of desperation by Cowell is Demi. This show will tank as hard as it did last year. Which is to say it will underperform but still win most nights that its on. Last season was the absolute lamest, annoyingly obnoxious, piece of trash I've ever endured on purpose. Hopefully they tone down the idiocy and the lip-synching this year.

There were rumors she also got HER management/agents to be producers on the show too... given how Simon has previously fired judges on Xfactor thats probably not a bad idea.

She's AT LEAST as qualified as Paula was, if not more. Britney was actually on Star Search as a kid

I was about to type how I think this could go either way on the scales, but I think only good can come from this.

If it's a disaster and she's shy and stiff (or goes mental), then everyone will just continue to think she's a bit crazy, but the current fan base will still remain.

If it goes well and her sweet and goofy personality comes across then she'll become america's sweetheart.
 
The first thing that came to my mind was "Good for her!"

I don't know, I guess seeing her fail would make me rather sad instead of entertained

He proved to be quite inept and fake last season, which would have been more apparent if the two people to his immediate left weren't complete morons, and if the show wasn't a trainwreck. I'm just hoping to see one or two more Rachel-esque breakdowns. SIMON! NOOOOOOOOO!
