Turns out those Olympic minifigs are real

orly? I guess the thing I read about the guy claiming he faked it was...fake

Those are gonna be a pain in the arse. The only ones I want are the ones you can actually feel for anyway. Boxer, Lifter, maybe Javelin.

Well they look a bit better now. Boxer isn't quite the blue alternative then.

But TeamGB with all gold medals? Someone is going to lose a lot of money at the bookies.

Nice start to your Republic/Imperial forces! I'm up to about 45 of the various troopers so far, but if you want to see complete insanity, check out this guy's army:

(yeah, i know he's kind of annoying)
always impressive to see a collection like that, but could someone please explain to me why :P troopers were always the least interesting characters in the entire SW universe to me. They are like the red shirts in Star Trek. Of all the things to collect...
Is there any ... software ... iPhone
I wish we had a full-featured LEGO building app for the iphone/ipad actually :) There are a few half-baked apps out there but ehh :/ Would be great fun to build on the go

Storm troopers are the most awesome characters! Well not character-wise ofcourse haha.
I have always really liked their design, thought they looked cool since I was a little lad.

Edit: Also when you have more than 1, it just starts looking more awesome...unlike almost all other minifigures.

Just nabbed Weathertop for now. Felt like the perfect item to start with.
Not too expensive, but enough to get the Frodo poster and Hulk minifig.

And I can see what other VIP/promotions pop up in June. ;)

I had them all...and only $5 of VIP in my account...that was over $300 worth of LEGO...wife would shit bricks (LEGO!!!) :)

Dropped it down to Uruk-Hai and Helm's Deep...

Is there any kind of cheap stop motion software I could use from an iPhone or cheap camera? I think it'd be fun to do some stop motion vids with Lego, add my own music and sound fx. Not sure where to start for the software and hardware though.

- lego movie from lego (free)

- istopmotion (not free). Comes with a free iphone companion app that lets you use a spare iphone/ipod touch as a wifi camera to avoid camera shake

- StopMotion

- frameograph

I used an app on my desktop for one vid, but it is limiting. For these two videos I used Frameographer.

It is about $3 I think and well worth it. Stoopid easy to use and edit things. I love that I can alter the interval between frames even in the middle of the project, and can do non linear editing before exporting it. You can also adjust the FPS before exporting it to an MP4 video.

Imperial Shuttle Time Lapse Build

Fire Brigade/Town Hall Time Lapse Build

There is also a stop motion mode in Frameographer, complete with onion skin overlay to help line shots back up.

I'd like to eventually do my own little stop-motion mini-series, just using Lego. Not really anything related to building, but sort-of RvB/webshow on Lego :P

What iPhone tripod mount do you use? Im thinking of getting one.

When I have one I shall attempt a time laps video and just get that app you suggested, considering the amount of money I'm dropping on Lego that app is the least of my worries ;)

I just built a casing out of Lego that my iPhone would fit into and set it on a shelf nearby. The front of the casing had studs so I could adjust the angle up and down by moving two bricks. Low tech, but it worked.

Since then I actually have a Lego iPhone case. (NERD!) So might just click the angled beams on that. But I do need to get a tripod mount for my phone. Would make things a lot easier.

Are you basing that on size or how frequently they are in the background? These builds were hours long. The Fire Brigade one spread out over two or three days if I remember.

The black cat is actually not as fat as she looks. She is half fur. The orange cat is fat though. We do everything the vet says, and she still wont lose weight. We have been using diet food for over a year, cut down on portions, exercise (as much as you can force a cat to), and still nothing. I am cursed to always have fat kitties. But the black kitty just stays at her weight all the time, even after the diet kicked in. She is maybe at the high end of optimal weight, but not fat like the orange cat.

WHOO HOO! Grand Emporium and Hulk shipped! I hope the long trek doesn't make Hulk angry. I dont want him busting out of the box and escaping before he gets here.

Yet my orders from Amazon STILL haven't shipped. I don't care about tax and shipping, I'm never ordering from them again.

The last Lego set I bought was 5988 - Pharoah's Forbidden Ruins. I think I still have it somewhere back at my parent's house. In box and all. I haven't bought a lego set in 13 years but I think I want to get the Hulks Helicarrier, Quinjet, and Captain America Cycle sets.

I wonder If I can flip 5988 on ebay for $100-$120 bucks and get the avengers sets for relatively free.

Picked up the Blue Roadster on lunch today. Really digging these smaller Creator sets. Cheap enough for impulse buying, and multiple instructions inside.

I just finished designing an MOC in LDD and I discovered that one of the brick types that I've used a lot is fairly rare and expensive on Bricklink. I need about 260 pieces and they are almost a dollar per piece! So I figured that I could just buy the 260 pieces in a different color and spray paint the bricks. This would drastically cut the cost by about 60%. Is this advisable? The pieces are surface decorations, so I could just spray paint the front and not the back where it would actually connect to other pieces. Does anybody here have any experience with this? ie- What type of paint works/looks best with LEGO bricks? I'm not sure if this matters, but I'd be applying black paint on light gray bricks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, guys...

It will eventually look like shit. Maybe consider changing th color scheme.

I know it's been said before but it still bugs the hell out of me how much TRU markups Lego. I was in there today and saw the LOTR sets (so pretty) and was so tempted to pick one up until I looked at the prices. Yucky. The Attack on Weathertop set was a good 80 bucks...which I was interested in but not at that price. I'll just buy several of them tomorrow off the Lego store online.

They also have some of the Summer City sets in as well...none of the bigs one yet but ehh.
