It's a secret ;)

But if you really want to know..

Huge Spoilers:
It's an item needed to create the Staff of Herding, which is used to unlock the secret Pony level
I absolutely love that
Gibbering Gemstone is the gem that you could click on in the D2 chat channels to no effect. It finally has a use!

Speaking on Legendary pieces, the stats are randomized it seems. I picked up one for my Monk during Act 4 of Nightmare and compared it to the ones found on the AH and mines was like infinitely better. I'll post screenshot in a few but it was an incredible drops, well worth fussing with my gear and keeping my MF at 95% while upgrading my DPS.

Act 3 Hell cleared, dinged 60 and actually got something useful out of the Act boss due to the MF buff you get from killing elites.

Killing bosses has sucked in my 54 levels so far. They should have had the buff kick in from the start (with you being able to switch builds until you hit 60) or they should have made the first time boss kills akin to those in D2. It's really disappointing to kill a huge boss and end up getting shit for it.

So do barbs pretty much need a shield from Nightmare and on? Just wondering if I need to start keeping my eye out for a good one hander.

I'd say you don't if you have somebody backing you up but if you're soloing, you'll want to gear yourself with not just your primary stat but a few others to help your defense otherwise it'll be a lot rougher. Better defense really does help in this so.

Anyway, here's a screenshot of that legendary for my Monk and my current gear build.

Guild channels will be a feature in Diablo 3: The Lord of Hate

Well guild/clan/group support is coming to SC2 with HotS, perhaps with private chat channels for groups like this as well. So I imagine we'll see it in Diablo III eventually. The current chat channel system is utterly useless - even more so than the one in SC2.

Legendaries have some fixed attributes, but the ranges on them can vary. Some of these fixed attributes can be random magic property slots (in addition to other more static stats.)

Very well-rolled rares are intended to be better than legendaries most of the time anyway.

Wait, so Nephalem Valor works in Hell?

It kicks in once you reach level 60, period. You'll probably at least be in Hell by that point, but it should work on all difficulties. Farming with Nephalem Valor on Normal and Nightmare isn't going to do you much good.

How do you get pages of blacksmithing. I need 5 and have none?

They don't start dropping until Nightmare, but you can get them off the Auction House under Pages and Recipes > Artisan Crafting. They drop about as frequently as gems, but can be fairly easy to miss if you're not paying attention as they're in white text.

Wtf, do quests reset if I back out to Auction House mid quest? Had just destroyed three things in Act 3, with one more thing to destroy - now it's reset.

Thanks. Also it there a way to remove gems from a weapon socket?

Also for those who don't know, whenever you salvage a piece of equipment with a gem on it, the gem is automatically given back to you.

Something I learned a couple minutes ago is that you can hover over items on the ground while holding the CTRL key and you'll automatically see their info without having to pick them up.

Annnnnd I died for the first time in Nightmare....agains an "Illisionist desecrator". Other than that Nightmare is still very easy so far.

Decided to wait a bit before diving into the game and not have to deal with any headaches related to the initial rush D3 was obviously gonna get. Playing as a DH and just hit Act II, and it's been pretty fun. I like the CC and just deciding what attack set up I want to go with. Finally got a decent pair of 1-handed crossbows a bit ago, and she's starting to tear stuff up pretty good. Overall I'm having a good time.

This point is, people shouldn't be speculating what needs to be fixed and what's ruining the game less than a week after launch and after playing only a class or two. The knee jerk reactions are puzzling.

While I think the argument has been hyperbolized to some extent here, I feel the core is still valid. I likely won't be able to play this game much, if at all, anymore due to other time commitments I have, and my experience with the game has been less than what I was hoping; specifically due to the AH mechanic.

Personally, I'm compelled to min/max, and I appreciate games that retain their difficulty when I do this. The feeling of trying your best, and it still being difficult is something I enjoy when I play games. This is why the argument that people should just "avoid the AH" doesn't hold weight with me. Now, I freely acknowledge that this min/max neurosis I have is atypical, but for me, I'm not having as much fun as I would expect given Blizzard's track record.

I'm not saying it's a bad game, it just strikes me as odd, and somewhat disappointing, that the balance would be so out of whack while using in-game mechanics, and without "gaming" the system, as it were.

I just discovered how awesome Hex (Witch Doctor) is for boss fights. I didn't know it could turn most bosses (it doesn't work on the gigantic bosses like Belial second form) into chickens. I just finished the Kulle fight in nightmare and his 2 big minions actually got insta-killed when the Hex tried to turn them into chickens, and then Kulle himself was a chicken half the time. Same with Belial first form.

That and with the rune that makes the Hex heal you, it's a recipe for awesomeness.

lol

I never used Hex, gotta rectify that.

I don't think the argument that Auction House gives you overpowered gear holds up when people are in Inferno. Besides, it just facilitates trades on a massive scale. Even if there was no AH, you could certainly still trade with people to get good items that would trivialize lower difficulty playthroughs. Eventually, high level gems will have this effect to a great degree for alts, even if you never traded, as there's no level requirement on them.

The checkpoint system in this game is truly flawed... god damn.

Yea, I obviously can't comment on the ability to trivialize Inferno (having only played up through Act I on nightmare). But as I mentioned earlier, I likely will never get to play on Inferno due to other time commitments, so I'm just a little bummed that the time I do get to spend with the game is marred by this imbalance. I have yet to play a game where you need self-imposed rules to fully enjoy it, but if I'm way off base here, I'm sure someone will point it out.

Would you rather have the Random Number Gods fuck you up the ass and drop nothing good for your class while going through the quests so you'd be stuck farming the same act while leveling?

If I want to unlock Hell difficulty, do I need to finish nightmare in ORDER or can I just drop in and out to kill the bosses or whatever?

Anyone else have this?

I was an avid D2 player back in the day, and had lots of fun. So naturally i looked forward for years for D3 (i also was on the convention were they announced it). Now that it came out i feel kinda meh about it.

I cleared Hell difficulty, and i like my char. does enough dmg etc. but i feel like something is missing. Im not having the same fun as i had in D2....maybe its because im older and stuff but i dont know. feel kinda bummed :( i get the feeling this is not gonna be a game im gonna play the next couple years like D2...

Yeah, as soon as you start buying AH gear, that challenging feel is gone. I spent 10,000 gold on a full set of rares that more than doubled my dps and lol'd my way through the next 10 levels using what became my I WIN button (twin chakrams).

On the flip side, every rare item you loot will be 10 levels below you and packed with INT if you're a melee or full of STR if you're a caster. No exceptions.

Way too late to quote, BUT:

I kept levelling up crafting and can craft some significantly stronger parts then what I have atm as soon as I level up everytime, to make up for bad rare-drops. Also got some sweet DH-specific drops for pants and chest armor with all of Attack speed, DEX and Magic Find on it, pretty much the perfect item for me. What I can't find good gear for I make up for with crafting. WAY better than taking the challenge away by using the AH. I haven't even bought subtle essences from the AH and keep salvaging my blues (as long as they're <70 gold, my cutoff point), despite that being kinda counterproductive :D (since subtle essences sell for like 20 on the AH)
