Great - now I have next Friday off work, but I've already booked a 9pm showing. I'll be sitting on the sofa all day when I could be out, watching Prometheus. Why me, God!?

I had the same problem. I went to the theatre and made them swap my tickets for the earlier session.

You could also just go see the movie twice.

I think that tickets can't be unbooked so to speak, though it's worth a shot.

What if I don't like it? Wait, what am I saying? I'm obviously hysterical.

My theatre has a no refunds policy on booked tickets. But if you go down there and speak one human being to another and just ask if they have free seats in the earlier session, hopefully they'll realise it makes zero difference to them which session you see and they'll do a swap for you.

man i liked star trek the first time i saw it but upon repeat viewings the characters just started to annoy me, particularly spock. i can't stand him in that movie. his scenes with zoe saldana are terrible too.

"what do you need from me" .. "i need you ... to do your duty." ugh .. that is not the spock that i know and i hated the characterization. the guy who plays capt. kirk has pretty good charisma but he also comes across as too much of a petulant kid.

and no matter how many times i watch the movie i will never get the plot. ever.

The young characters in Star Trek 2009 become the craggy super-serious wrinkle faces in Star Trek: TOS. The movie is them in their adolescence, I don't understand the complaints that they're not like their original counterparts. They have plenty of time to grow into those roles. Except Simon Pegg, he was woefully miscast.

The BBFC has posted their extended classification information for Prometheus here. Its not too spoilery -certain acts of violence are described, but most of these are shown partially in the trailers, and none are specific as to whom the action is directed at- but obviously you may not want to know.

Reading it, it sounds like a relatively soft "R", there's apparently only a single use of strong language (traditional sop for PG-13) for example, but as the board's commentary repeatedly mentions elements that are simply too graphic for a 12A, it doesn't seem like its especially tame on the violence front.

Hard to tell really because the UK's 15 rating is pretty broad, you can get away with some pretty extreme gore provided its not specifically sadistic, sexualized (a huge no-no), or imitatable.

I really need a good Hudson (Bill Paxton) avatar to go with the Prometheus hype. Can anyone help out?

I've used this one in the past, but it feels a bit too gritty to celebrate the shinnyness of Prometheus.

Went to the Bradford Imax in England to buy tickets but they're not showing the film. Fuck. Gonna have to go to a regular cinema, I guess.

Exactly where i was gonna go and see it, but i saw that theyre not showing it when i looked at the weekend, not good.

VUE in Leeds City Centre tickets booked instead!
Saw Avengers there last week. Im sure the sound system has been beefed up since last time i was there for a 3D/Digital movie, it was immense. I really cant wait for next week.

Yeah, Vue switched out their projectors for Sony 4k projectors and redid the sound system. They definitely did a good job with it. I saw 'The Raid' there a few nights ago and it was fantastic. I haven't seen any 3d films there, though, so I don't know how good that'll be. Fingers crossed they'll put on a good show for Prometheus!

Goddammit. Missed the Cameron talk, Danny Boyle 3rd act jokes, Abrams/Orci/Kurtzman dissection, and Ridley Scott ranking, aka the main draws of a movie-gaf thread. Now all I can do is discuss the actual movie :(

Other thread is fucked. Peeped in there and saw them link to images capped from screenings. What the fuck is wrong with people?

It's not a gif from a screening but actually one of the regular TV commercials that started airing here in the US. You can't watch TV now without being spoiled and that TV spot is heavy spoiler territory. =/

EDIT: Nevermind I just wondered over there and saw what you was talking about...

Probably similar crazies as those who read scripts before the movie is out, like the people who have already read the Django Unchained script.

Tickets booked.

Heads up Belfast GAF - Odyssey Cinemas are showing 3D at 12.05am and 2D @ 12.15 :)

The Brunswich Cinebowl are showing it here in Derry are doing a 12am showing in 3D, would've went if I was back home but I think I'm roped into going to Box that night now, joy of joys!

Odeon in Victoria Square are doing a midnight showing too iirc from the sign they had up when I was in seeing Avengers.

Might go to the Odeon in Victoria Square, Don't want to trek all the way over to The Odyssey. Still not sure about midnight though.

What's the one in The Odyssey like compared to the Odeon? Was there a long time ago I think but can't remember anything about it. Better or worse?

Last time I was there was years and years ago but I don't remember any big complaints. The only reason I would be out there is for the nightclubs, Its just so out of the way. I hate the amount of ads in Victoria Square though & the price. Might have to be a cheapskate and go to the Movie house!

Yeah Box/Beach Club is the only reason I've been to The Odyssey in a long time, but don't for the love of God go to the Movie House lol full of wee scumbags.

Apparently there's a tie-in ad between Prometheus and some beer now? Makes sense with how pro-corporation the plot of the alien franchise is

I know right. The movie should be good though : )

!!!!

Prometheus finally got rated here in Singapore. It's NC16 here, which indicates to me that it's a soft-R in the US, but probably not completely soft. If there is more graphic violence it would probably be M18, so I think it probably has significantly violent scenes but not a lot of them.

For reference, Alien is rated PG, Aliens is rated M18, Alien 3 is rated NC16, and Alien Resurrection is rated M18. Yes, Alien is rated PG. Don't look at me.

Saw the Prometheus trailer in 3D today. So very good!
Surprised that the valley in the beginning (on earth) even had depth, usually you loose that a bit over such distances. This movie does and will look amazing.

Alien is rated PG
What the fuck.

Anyway I showed the trailer to a friend I was planning on going with and it looks like I need to find someone else.. said it was too weird and scary for her, from the trailer. :lol

I wonder how much an element of horror this'll end up having in contrast to Alien.

Got my midnight showing tickets all ready to go for myself and the Mrs. Trying to recruit some friends to go along with me.

Seeing this baby in an IMAX theater with that glorious sound and screen could easily be my favorite movie going experience of this year...which is awesome to say considering we've already been treated to The Avengers.

Prometheus...TDKR...Skyfall...

Shieeeeet
