Just to add to this, the clapping is actually from that dance game, not piped in clapping from Nintendo.

Pikmin 3
Zombi U
Nintendoland will be a good pack-in game

That's it.

Ubisoft > Sony > Nintendo > EA > Microsoft

I don't even know how this is possible but it happened.

edit: forgot Paper Mario

RETRO'S GAME IS COMING.

MONOLITHSOFT'S GAME IS COMING.

3D MARIO IS COMING.

ZELDA IS COMING.

SMASH IS COMING.

ALL OF NINTENDO'S STUFF IS COMING.

Um... unless the big 3 go out of business, things are ALWAYS COMING. If everyone was as easily satisfied as you, we wouldn't need E3 anymore.

"HEY GUYS EVERYTHING'S COMING! Why are we here??"

I...I don't know what to think.
First impression: utterly disappointed
Second impression: utterly disappointed.

Other than Pikmin 3, nothing made me smile. When Wii Sports was unveiled, I smiled, I instantly loved it. It was never seen before. NintendoLand feels more like Wii Play. There's nothing revolutionary here. First time I don't intend to buy a Nintendo console day one.
I'm 100% sure I'll buy one down the road for EAD Tokyo but I never thought I'll have a wait & see approach to a Nintendo console. Who am I kidding? I'll still probably buy it for Pikmin, Rayman and ACIII. We know Retro new game and Zelda will be coming.
Very disappointed with 3DS also. Luigi's Mansion and Paper Mario only for Fall really? They have been announced 2 years ago!

The conference wasn't great, but there are some good games to come for Wii U, especially in the launch/launch window. No real surprises other than Scribblenauts and NintendoLand but they showed enough to prove that the launch will have more than 3DS.

There are a lot of overreactions here though. People mustn't forget that, while the 3DS took a back seat, it's getting an entire hour dedicated to it tomorrow.

exaggerated backlash here is astounding.

Just astounding.

It was a meh conference. They blew it.

So that means Wii U will never have any games besides Pikmen 3, NSMB U, and Wii Fit U... EVAR.

Pack it up, Nintendo has stopped developing games!

All that really happened here is they chose the wrong things to emphasize in order to win over a hardcore audience that was - judging by these reactions - primed and ready to rip them apart if said audience didn't have pure rainbows injected into their veins.

By the standards of overwrought reactions we are getting, Halo 4 and Xbox 720 are clearly canceled because of how bad the MS press conference was.

consider the difference of nintendo revealing a new console - and sony and MS at the last of its console.

Did they blow it really? If Nintendo Land is their next Wii Sports, I'd say they're laughing all the way to the bank again.

They've "blown it" with gamers here. And myself. It could be big for casuals outside of the internet.

But even Wii Sports was well-received on the net when it was revealed.

Execution of the conf. was the one way I felt they could mess up. Nintendo accomplished that.

Don't kid yourself, the content wasn't there either. They showed like half the games they showed at 2006, just as I expected. I knew you were hyping everyone up for nothing.

These last years, tons of content were revealed AFTER the conference, during the E3, so please don't jump to hastily conclusions and bad comments about Nintendo until E3 finish :)

btw, 2 gamepad support, you heard it first here :p
As explained in my thread, the chances of seeing launch window titles using 2 DRC is small though, even more for third-parties, as it wasn't activated in May.

And Pikmin 3, Mario Wii U, Nintendoland (which looks extremely fun, you have to watch the presentation with Iwata), ZombiU (the Wii U features implementations will be so fun), Project P-100 (i LOVE this kind of games), all the other titles... and the ones not introduced yet ! nothing to be disappointed at seriously guys :)

Not sure how Nintendo is going to win over the core gamers with a bunch of ports and weak exclusives. Good luck Nintendo.

I'm done with them until they show off something worth playing.

Watching Reggie on Spike pisses me off even more.

ALL THESE GAMES IN THE LAUNCH WINDOW!

But when is the launch?

This is just maddening.

I'm not sure what people were expecting. It's not like they were just going to ignore Wii Fit and Just Dance, FFS those are two of the biggest Wii franchises. Mario U looked great, Pikmin looked fun. I'm down if the price is right.

You're missing the point man. This was Nintendo's conference to sell us their new hardware. They were the only company bringing hardware, there was no competition, and they still blew it. No release date, no pricing, and some of the "marquee" titles shown have been or will have been out for over a year when this console ships. lulz.

Everyone knows the nintendo franches are going to show up here. and they'll probably be good. Nintendo needed to tell us what else was coming, and they didn't.

Of the three platform holders Nintendo wins by default but that press briefing was underwhelming. I will get one at some point but I am not excited.

E3 2012 = Meh. Bring on the next gen!

Peter Moore coming out on Spike. EA Sports support better be coming.

This deserves to be said again as many did not see it or know about....

from Engaget:

Update: In a follow-up, Nintendo Japan has posted on Twitter that there's a price to pay if two Gamepads are active. Frame rates drop to about 30 fps if two are active; any games that really want that extra controller won't be quite as glass-smooth. On the upside, it's possible to switch one off with a smooth transition; there won't be a need for theatrics just to switch to a solo game.

do we need essentially 3 "New super Mario" games in 1 year? Where is the innovation? Where is Retro? Why not hit the ground running with a innovative new 3d mario game?

I understand holding your AAA internal games back for holiday year 2 in the cycle if your MS or Sony and have the 3rd party support carry the system until then

Pikmin looked fun s always but nothing else in the show looked remotely interesting to me. Year old ports with using the screen for inventory is not going to cut it. Nintendo needed the change the public opinion of the WiiU in order to ensure a successful launch and I really think they fel drastically short.

The only logical conclusion to Nintendo's showing is that they are saving all their big IP's to counter 720 and PS4 launch software. If not, then I do not know what to think.

Nice strawman.

People are upset because this was Nintendo's chance to show people why the Wii U should be bought, and why the hell a tablet controller is actually useful and not just a second screen for maps and inventories...

And yet they did just that.

Tell me, right now, why would I ever consider buying a Wii U when it's primary feature is already done better on the company's own handheld?

That's not the point. All they had to do was cut the filler and just TALK about those upcoming games and do some ANNOUNCEMENTS and maybe show some titles and a few seconds of gameplay footage even if really early instead of complete garbage like Sing, Nintendoland and Wii Fit expansion pack and people would be so much happier right now.

Everybody KNOWS they've got steak and potatoes on the way, all we were asking for were some REAL appetizers and a peak at what's grilling.

Last year it was reasonable they didn't have the software ready to go but even then they highlighted the Zelda demo that looked phenomenal. And somehow they had less to show this year?

And what about the three games they teased? Were they Pikmin, NintendoLand, and Mario Bros U?

Entitled gamers. Don't you see gaming is about more than just you now? Nintendo and the Wii U is the future.

Wii U isn't the future if they're going to start off by mimicking the garbage that made this generation so awful. Singing and dancing games in place of real gaming experiences? Karaoke Revolution was a few generations ago so I fail to see how they are grasping the imagination of the future.

So does that mean games that run at 30fps won't support two wii u pads? Most games released on console are 30fps

Perfect.

To those crying about the anger:

Is Nintendo doomed? Of course not. Have the interested me in any way? Lego looked okay, and Pikmin, but that was it. So not really. And hell the actual presentation itself was laughable, just their delivery and scripting. A joke.

People at Nintendo should lose their jobs over that conference. It can't be said enough.

Meh, just bad organization in my opinion. If they would've swapped NintendoLand with either Pikmin or Mario it would've been fine, they just didn't really end on the strong note everyone expected.

Tech demos and a massive amount of lazy ports. Can't say I'm surprised but still, wow. You'd think this would be the perfect time to introduce an actual reason to buy the system at launch, or at least a sneak peek at something coming in the future.

I'm glad the 3ds situation is looking good at least. I already know which games are coming and which I want. Still that 3ds software showcase better rock. I want to see new games and already announced games given release dates and more info.

Kajima, I like your posts. But there are really no excuses for the product they put out.

We know there will be other games for Wii U. We always know Nintendo's developing something. There'll be a 3D Mario, a Zelda, etc. But E3 is a stage to communicate your vision for your console, its future, and its library. It's the perfect time to give little morsels to whet your appetite. We got nothing of the sort here.

The launch lineup as shown didn't reflect the learned lessons of the 3DS.

Most of the stuff shown here we've seen before. And they didn't really excite a lot of us then either.
