Microsoft Surface Tablet announced

If Microsoft gets the Surface to market soon and at an attractive price this will be the most disruptive product since the iPad.

Just so we're clear: by "disruptive", is it as in "disruptive innovation", Like, the Christensen terminology?
Because if that's the way you mean it, you don't understand disruption at all.

If meant in the general sense, then disregard my comment.

So wait... No release date? No pricing?

smh... is this another one of those "it'l come out soon!" and by CES they are just getting around to pricing it out

I'm pretty impressed with what they showed. I still don't understand how that digital ink stylus works. If it acutally has pen pressure, then I'd love to buy this. I really liked the industrial zuneish look.

So iPad pricing for RT versions..

Ultrabook pricing for pro versions..

Not gonna light the market on fire if the "killer feature" people want is full blown Windows.

IMO at least.

Not that I expected anything different.. the point of hardware like this is to profit off of the hardware sales.

The one thing that Apple gets right with (most of) their product announcements is that you can start ordering the item immediately after the announcement. Microsoft shouldn't be announcing this with no price or way to purchase. It makes it seem like the product might not be done yet; it's just a tech demo. At least they're doing hands-on demos.

looks awesome but if its close to ultrabook pricing for the pro one, then fuckouttahere

still, awesome little thing. my gadget lust now is uncontrollable

Seriously no price is lame...

Looks really cool. Like a tablet/netbook hybrid or something. It doesn't really have anything that would make the whole tablet experience better for me though. Lightroom and other full Windows apps? Cool, but not really something I NEED my tablet to have. I have a desktop for that. If the Win8 Pro version is anywhere near $1000 I'd much rather have a MacBook Air. And that's coming from someone who builds PCs and thinks Apple's labtops and desktops are way overpriced.

I think the RT will be the same as the cheapest iPad and the Pro the same as the cheapest Macbook Air. Competitive without being a ridiculous deal.

Awesome device, just announce the price and my iPad3 is going on ebay. This thing comes with a full-fledged OS and runs office, this actually seems like a tablet you can work with instead of just being a toy.

See, if this was Apple they would have announced that you can buy it right now and my credit card would have been charged already. Microsoft fail.

Just hope they'll get it out the door before everyone (me, at least) forgets this fuzzy feeling. Intel later is a letdown.

I don't think competitive ARM pricing is competitive with iPad pricing.

Pro coming in 64GB and 128GB models, will be priced on par with Ultrabook-class PCs.

Surface for Windows RT coming in 32GB and 64GB models. Priced "like comparable tablets based on ARM."

Some ultrabooks are ranging between around £650 - £1200 in the UK, and ARM tablets are a fraction of the lower end of that spectrum - like £200-499. I hope the high end model skews towards the lower end of possible prices, and I really hope that keyboard cover is included or doesn't cost too much extra...

anyway, looks hot as fuck. It needs a Halo 3 level marketing push.

I don't really dig the name. But I don't think that matters, it looks awesome.
