Nah. I think they'll just buy an iPad, or a Kindle Fire/low-end Android tablet. Then they won't need the keyboard and can get the RT version. Good to have options.

yeah it may not be suitable for sitting in your lap.
I'm not concerned about blind consumers, Apple has excellent usability features to help them out.
The million dollar question for me is, and maybe it's been covered already, will the pro version be powerful enough for legit PC gaming?
15Alright, so between 1 and 10, how mad are the OEMs at Microsoft right now. I give them a solid 8.5
yeah, i was talking about the keyboard being out and in your lap.It still has an on screen keyboard...

No HDMI?
Microsoft is only showing off the Windows RT version of the Surface, which means ARM CPU and a thinner form factor. The design and build of the tablets the company has here feel very polished, with tight, clean lines. The device was also surprisingly light. The 1366 x 768 display also looked crystal clear at a variety of angles.
The only bummer right here. Might be able to look past it because of the stylus, but we'll see...
I don't think anyone expects to put in a xbox dvd in this thing and it expect it to work.
Not everybody likes the Apple universe. I think this could be pretty big.Nah, they won't give a shit and this thing will flop big time.
Zune all over again.
Why not have an Xbox Tablet to compete with iPad and a Windows Tablet for pros?
so wait the stylus and the cover come with the tablet in the pro package? fucking sold.Verge hands-on:
Stylus is part of the Pro package.
Diablo 3 runs fine in 4-player inferno on my HD3000, and the only other intensive game i've run on it is mass effect 3. Both games run rather well for an integrated card, and the 4000 has a lot of improvements.Highly doubt it.
Diablo 3 may be the top end of the spectrum on what it can run.
Never fails.
So everyone who can't see it is blind? You really think everyone who has bought the new iPad, iPhone 4, and iPhone 4S really can tell the difference or cares? That's a pretty bold statement there. It's a nice perk, but I doubt it's a deal breaker for many.

Needs to be quoted, I think this is critical to their strategyWhat some people are missing is the appeal for businesses on the Pro Version. Running a full MS Office suite and having the Digital Ink makes it one hell of a piece of business hardware.
This is also why no Xbox branding. They're not just aiming for casual users, they want the business users as well.
No, resolution is one of the only tech specs that really impresses the average consumer.
No, but why would MS create a piece of hardware perfectly capable of playing all 360 games, and then limit it to XBLA?
Why would a consumer want to buy something that has the hardware of an Xbox 360 inside of it, that is for some reason software limited to only MS's "arcade" games?
I said nothing of Xbox DVDs. If MS was to release some device that was meant for digital distribution, that could run Xbox software, I somehow doubt they'd limit you only to their XBLA store.
In fact, we'd probably start seeing day one Xbox 360 releases on the Xbox Marketplace for DD if they had some DD only device they were trying to sell.

I don't think so.Not everybody likes the Apple universe. I think this could be pretty big.
Comparing it the phone or music devices market doesn't make sense to me. I'd go for the blackberry crowd though.

Whether they care or not isn't relevant, anyone with good eyesight should be able to tell the difference. My recommendation to anyone who can't tell the difference is to see an optometrist.
They're going to care when they look at the two side by side in the store.
the fact that this thing makes note taking so easy, is reason alone to make it worth it to students. Not to mention basic tablet features. Plus XBLA for gamers. Plus windows 8 OS on a highly portable system.
I haven't been this excited for a product in ages.
This tablet could not run 360 games...
There's a sexiness to the MBA. It's like the Mercedes Benz of the ultrabook market. At least that's how I see it.Meh.
This is only shocking because it's coming from Microsoft. The only real worthy hardware here will be the Pro Surface, which if priced similarly to a MacBook Air/Ultrabook is completely uninteresting to me. That keyboard cover is cool in theory but if I'm paying $1k then I want to feel the "click" of my keyboard presses. Ultrabooks and MBA's are already incredibly thin and light, so unless the Pro Surfaces are way cheaper I don't see the appeal here.
I AM ANGRY AT YOU!

the i5 is one that uses integrated 4000 graphics, right?
If so, then yea it can do a lot of games. "legit PC gaming" is a very relative question. It depends on what specific games you're trying to play.

30fps on Street Fighter 4 @ 768p.
24fps on FarCry 3 @ 768p.
"Playable" on Skyrim @ low settings
Their test model was an i7-based system, though. so snatch off a few fps for an idea.
Im glad were in agreement. the 11 Airs battery life drops like a rock when flash is running.

nice.Dota 2 runs quite well even on the HD 3000![]()
I presume they patents or something but do we expect to see Apple, or more likely 3rd parties release a rip off of the keyboard for the iPad?
Man, it looks good.
