Come on, you're taking issue with THE aspect of the Two-Face villain. The death of Rachel destroyed his sense of morality and justice, so he embraced fate (which was explained in one of those monologues you hate).
I remember watching in the theater and literally no one knew who Moriarty was but me. I was sad.
