A bit of both. I cut down on my carbs last summer and lost about 20lbs (went from 190 -> 170lbs in 2 months), but then went on vacation for a week and decided to take a break. That break lasted until last week!

I'll try to maintain it for good now. I'm not going all out or anything, but cutting out most sugar, potatoes, and bread. The upside is that it forces me to cook a lot more so in a few months hopefully I'll have a nice repertoire of tasty meals. :) Going to start going to the gym as well once I can find a workout buddy on my schedule.

85% dark chocolate fits nicely on a lowish carb diet plan. 2 squares of dark chocolate + a few almonds makes for a tasty afternoon snack. :)

Before I lost weight I tried so hard to cut out carbs and it made me miserable. I was going about it the wrong way, but even just cutting down on them can be really hard. Good luck to you. Cooking more at home is a great upside, though. ^_^ Do post any culinary creations you perfect!

i don't like how you guys have your pictures for your avatars

I remember you having an RP avatar for about 2 seconds... ;)

I will take this into advisement...Thanks!

Who said anything about sweets?

yea, there really isn't a negative to any of the options you posted haha

Both are super sweet... Do you mix them with savory stuff or something?

Yup. Cooking is fun...I enjoy it. I'm still a newbie but I'm getting better! This is what I made tonight (quoting myself):

Made pan-seared pickerel fillet and improvised a lemon/butter/dill sauce for it. Second attempt at making a pan sauce and it went pretty well! Pickerel is probably my favorite fish to eat. It was my first time eating the skin on the pickerel, and certainly won't be the last...I don't know why I ever bothered filleting the pickerel off the skin before...it's delicious.

I dredged the pickerel in flour + salt + pepper. I pan-seared the pickerel about 5 minutes on the skin side, and 2 minutes on the other side. Put it on a plate and got ready to make the pan sauce. Poured some white wine and deglazed the pan, added fresh lemon juice, cream, and dill (sadly, I only had the bottled stuff). Let it thicken and then added a bit of cold butter to it to finish it off.

Had it with roasted red peppers. Was my first time roasting vegetables, and it turned out well...just stuck them in a dish in the oven with some salt and olive oil. Red peppers probably aren't the best fish accompaniment, but I had nothing else, so...

Next time I do the fish, I'll salt it ahead of time so that it can absorb some of the salt prior to cooking. I'll also buy fresh dill...the bottled stuff really doesn't taste like much in the sauce. Pretty disappointing compared to the rosemary sauce I made earlier this week with fresh rosemary.

Well I do add some crunchy peanut butter...

But don't think of them as sweets...think of it as a sandwich. Sandwiches aren't sweet, they're just sandwiches. It's a loophole you can drive a semi-truck through...but it sure makes life more enjoyable...

I liked Freakazoid, Animaniacs, Rocko's Modern Life, Angry Beavers, Beavis and Butthead, The Maxx, Daria, and Invader Zim off the top of my head there.

Oh I watched Pokemon too.

I swear YTV would replay from episode 1 every couple of weeks since there were never enough episodes translated. I've seen Chiaotzu explode so many times now. D:

howdidaya know?

she is, but she's my bro. watch out.

I was directed to the, ah, Confessions thread and saw a bit of said creepiness. :P

Ooooo... pan-seared fish sounds amazing. I always tend to overcook mine. That coupled with usually buying the cheapest option tends to lead to an inedible dinner. :) I can't believe you've never eaten the skin, though! My favorite part when it's crispy and salty.

... Madness. Madness, I say! I just can't even see it as a sandwich, especially not with so much sweetness. I'm just cranky and old now. :(

Not much, just trying to sleep. Work in the morning :<

Can't say I've watched very many animes though...DBZ was fun when I was a kid, Bleach was terrible after a while, and Full Metal Alchemist was pretty good. Besides those and Death Note, I'm not much of an anime watcher.
