Yeah, GE puts in a solid effort, but there's simply no matching Ragetown so far. The fact everyone is older just makes it that much worse.
Glad you liked it. I always forget that I own it, and have been meaning to reread it. I haven't gotten around to reading Black and White, but I've watched Tekkonkinkreet a ton.
Her and another girl (who I forget if she's introduced by that point) are heavily underutilized which is a damn shame.
Really? I think all the characters in GE look the same.

This was a competent and engaging boxing manga. The story is very tightly told without getting distracted by random plot points that go nowhere and I never felt that the manga is dragging on endlessly harming the pacing. I'm very impressed by the art and it really enhanced all the fights. Also there was some nice variety in the techniques and the flow of the fights so it made most of them entertaining.
I felt at times reactions and the way some of the characters acted was something straight from a bad battle shounen manga. Also the plot twist was very lame,
Oh and there was some a lot of unnecessary fanservice, I felt like the author had a quota of boobs to show per volume.
Reading this kinda makes me wonder just what exactly is taking Ippo 100 volumes and still not ending. Not that I'm gonna bother reading Ippo anytime soon since I doubt it's good.
Zero is still the best boxing manga I ever read, but RRR was still a decent read that I will recommend to anyone who wants a good well paced boxing manga.

I just didn't see the point of connecting Ricky with Asahina by having him be the one who killed Ricky's sister. Felt like a cheap way to get Ricky pumped for the fight and have go through an abnormal progress in strength.

Ippo was good once but then he became the Japanese champ. Got really boring from that point onwards and only the Takamura fights and jokes are worthwhile nowadays.

I think this will go on my list of one of my favorite stories. The art was nice for Ikushima-san, and Ariie who both look great, and the plot, was actually enjoyable and fun, and even emotional through the bit of misunderstandings with the protagonist and the essentially his opposite, Ariie. Who knew a random game at a bus stop could lead to quick school life romance suddenly. I really liked their relationship as it progressed.

Being bad and legitimately liking it aren't mutually exclusive!You guys make it seem like I'm a masochist for enjoying A Town Where You Rage and GE.
KNIM
had an NTR arc where the main girl literally feels sorry for another guy whos about to die so she dumps the protagonist to get together with said guy so he can feel better.
As for GE Team Shou is Best Team, though the alternatives aren't all that attractive to begin with.

Shuuya survived and not Kawada, Shuuya sermons were pretty annoying and he almost did nothing. The lighthouse massacre was pretty sad.
My favorite character was Mimura

lol, pretty much my reaction.
So far, I don't think the games in part 2 are as good, but that might be because I've been reading it whenever the hell a new chapter releases and I tend to forget the rules a lot. There's also only been 2 so far, so we might be back to Fukumoto pacing :/ (still nowhere near as bad as Kaiji or Akagi though).

Yeah, I'm going through the golf arc and I'm already getting annoying at the overblown analysis and reactions dragging everything out. Plus I don't like how Zero has changed after the time skip. In Part 1 his character had the confidence and success rate of Akagi, but he was an idealist and genuinely cared about the fates of others, plus he had the even more freakishly intelligent and successful Shirube as a foil. This made him more human and sympathetic. Now he's just a smug bastard with sunglasses. It's disappointing to have the rug pulled out from the building plot line to get this instead.
I thought that arc was hilarious. I wanted the guy to live just so the two of them could realise just how stupid they'd been.
What made me rage was when he left a good relationship with the best girl to chase after the chick how has messed with him ever since they met.

That's true but there are still hundreds of them around so it seems. There was even a time not so long ago when the Organization actively hunted down the awakened ones.
I guess it makes sense when you must assume that every Claymore is bound to awaken sooner or later.
I fully expect it to happen again in GE, in some way or another.

Of course, I barely recall what she did prior to Utsumi getting with Yuki so she might have been an asshole at that point, but my recollection is that she's somewhere closer to normal than Yuki is. I would imagine at this point the entire school he attends would think he's a crazy player.

She kind of was. She ditched on their first date so she to be the rebound girl for an upperclassman she had a crush on, and couldn't even come up with a proper apology when he saw them together.

The cover and the color page right after it sold me on the series, if only they put in one or two more.
I chuckled a bit at the bookstore one, mainly the protagonist and the way his eyes would just sparkle and light up, and his doubt there.
