You go back to Beethoven and shit, but as far as this lifetime though, this is all you got."

In this lifetime, my lifetime, I had witness Michael Jackson. No way in hell you will ever reach his toes.

I'm really not a hip hop guy... So Kanye doesn't appeal to me enough for me to really get how he got this arrogant.

]I don't really like how there's almost always an inherent negative slant to any article regarding him. Like when he showed up to Occupy Wall Street to show support but wasn't speaking in front of cameras because he knew anything he would say would get twisted, and then articles came out blasting him for wearing jewelry, or too nice of a shirt. Give a fucking break, dude doesn't stand a chance because people just want to read about what an asshole he is.
kind of agree with this. most of the articles I read about dude tend to slant this way for hits. I'm not feeling any of his most recent stuff at all though, watch the throne was a 7/10 album for me and the cruel summer tracks have been mediocre bangers over throwaway production.

What in the fuck was that Kanye
I told you to do some shit for the kids
You can give me your muthafucking graduation ticket right now
You will not walk across that stage, you won’t slide across that stage
A muthafucka can’t pull you across that stage Kanye
Who told you see, I told you to do something up lifting
I’m trynna get you out here with these white people and this how you gone do me
You know what you's a nigga
And I don’t mean that in no nice way
Had little kids sing about the shit, the jokes on you
You throw your mutha hands in the air, and wave good-bye to everybody
Cause you getting the fuck out of this campus
Mutha what you gone do now

Kanye being arrogant is like water being wet. Everyone knows it including himself. I do think My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was brilliant and I'm not even a big fan of rap. However, the comparison to Beethoven is undefendable. There are so many better artists out there today although I do think he sets himself apart from a lot of people.

What does he even mean by that?

Also, Beethoven isn't untouchable.

To me this is just ignorant. Beethoven isn't some sort of standard on which all music is judged. Ridiculous.

Yeezy is a lot more palatable (and fun) if you imagine him as a parody of obnoxious rappers who do shit like this.

What is it with people always wanting famous individuals to be humble? Fuck humility. He is a great artist and producer, I have no problems with these statements.

He is sooo right. Keep listening to your death metal gamers. This aint your argument to make. The difference between him and other good ass artists is he is vocal about it.

I'd be fucking yelling this shit to if I was being outsold by these corny ass rappers and that gremlin lilwayne.

Let the music speak for itself.

The entire genre is based off the ego, not the music.

You let the music speak for itself and all you'll hear is nonsense erratic high-school notebook lyrics over really remedial music. Oh, and you'll still get an abundance of ego.

He doesn't mean any of that. His MO is being an asshole, and it works, it makes him millions of dollars. He has to sell himself this way now. He's got a new album coming up shortly doesn't he? What a shock!

and wtf is your preference? When have you ever made your way past a hip-hop single to certain parts of the album where it isnt the bullshit you talk about?

He doesn't mean any of that. Kanye's MO is being an asshole. It works, and it makes him millions of dollars. I would do the same thing.

This is stupid. Nobody buys the guy's music because he acts like an asshole. They buy it DESPITE him acting like an asshole.

Also, if his music was perfect, others would be saying it. He wouldn't have to. I think if he was more humble, he'd do better.

Kanye's music would be worse if he wasn't like this.

He influences every rapper in the game. He even influenced jay a lil bit. What I hate is people that don't even listen to this particular genre sitting here acting like their 2 cents are even worth it.

Man, Kanye is actually one of the few rappers I can stand but knowing what he's like as a person makes me unable to get into his music. An egomaniac that actively speaks out against education is not someone I want to support.

He was at a concert, not doing some kind of serious interview. I think there's some leeway for ego stroking in an environment where literally everyone in the room is there to see you.

By his own statement, I am listening to the flawed claims of a flawed man. But that description itself might also be flawed.

I'll be in my room.

The College Dropout is a perfect album, warts and all. so I'll overlook Graduation and 808s (and even Watch the Throne) to agree with his little statement because once upon a time, Kanye was the most charismatic pop star (not just hip hop, but in all popular music) on the market. that counts for a lot in my book.

Is that what you really hate? Well then buy my album because you're a hater. And haters will make me a millionaire. Right?

In all seriousness though, people have been bragging on rap tracks since the 70's. It isn't new or innovative. He may influence people, but not for the better. Kanye has been lucky enough to work with some good producers and collaborate with great rappers. But the dude doesn't have rapping skills. He recycles lyrics and his vanity causes such abortions as the MTV incident with Taylor Swift.
